  2. Hi all, We released Evernote for iOS 7.7.9 this morning, and it should be available to everyone in the App Store shortly. This release contains even more updates for camera stability including an updated camera SDK. You should see less crashes, better recovery from crashes (just restart the app and continue), better performance in document recognition, and faster start to capture processing. In addition, Moleskine notebooks should be recognized more easily. Other notable bug fixes and improvements: Updated note list Title sort order to a more intuitive sort method (now using localizedStandardCompare for those that might be interested)Fixed some bugs with opening up web views (i.e. privacy policy, knowledge base, etc.)Fixed an iOS 7 bug when dismissing the "Great things start here" screenYou can download the Evernote for iOS app from the App Store. As always, please let us know what you think. Cheers! PS: If you are running iOS 9 Beta and encounter issues, please leave feedback on this thread: iOS 9 - Main thread.

    Camera Automatic Settings

Hi Everyone! I really love the Camera Function of Evernote in iOS, especially when it automatically identifies what I want to take a picture of: After the identification of the picture area, it takes the perfect photo! But then the automatic settings converts it to something like this: If I choose Photo in the choices. It will revert to something like this: Is there a way to choose Photo and have picture number 2 as the result? Also, What is the purpose of Evernote for adjusting the colors of pictures when they are converted into documents? Thanks in advanced!

    Version 7.7.7 crashes?

Since downloading the new version on my iPhone (iOS not upgraded), the program closes whenever I try to take a photo of a business card. It takes the photo, shows the photo and then immediately crashes rather than saving the image or translating the text. Suggestions/ideas?

    Camera not working

Whenever I touch the camera icon in a note it shuts the app and returns me to my Iphones home screen. Any ideas here? I reloaded the app but no luck. I can import from the camera roll but I cannot take a picture from within Evernote.

  7. Since the 7.7 version of Evernote for iPhone came out, I've been unable to consistently capture text from my Moleskine Evernote Business Notebook. Am I the only one? Firstly, automatic mode just doesn't work. I can wait minutes for it to recognise the boundaries of the page, even when the notebook is open on a flat black piece of card. Notes - once captured - are inconsistently captured as either documents or photos. They're nearly never properly cropped, so I also can't successfully use the "To Do" tick box as it's either cropped out, or simply unrecognised. If I switch to manual mode, then the problems are similar. It becomes a cumbersome process as I need to select the type "document" for each page. Cropping is still poor, making the "To Do" tick box useless. Also, the OCR of captured pages has gone all to hell, possibly because of the problems in the capture process. I reiterate: all this worked just fine before 7.7. Before then, it was point, snap, title, file, find. Is there anyone else having these sort of issues? It's driving me insane as capturing these pages had become a valued part of my workflow.

  9. Hello! It would be fantastic if the camera in Evernote remembered the last used flash setting. It makes it difficult to take a quick snapshot if you have to turn the flash off every time you take or retake a photo (and it messes your eyes up having the flash go off in your face all the time...). If 'Auto' works fine for most people the 'remember last setting' function would still work in the majority of cases, as they wouldn't change it from Auto anyway. Hope you're all having a lovely day!

    Camera Issues - Status?

Installed 7.7.5 today; iPhone 6+ with latest iOS. Using the camera to "scan" anything (documents, biz cards, post-its) causes the app to crash as soon as the image is captured. Same story as the last several versions, many of which claimed to fix these issues Is this issue being addressed properly? I'm starting to become rather frustrated, especially since I rely heavily on Evernote (Premium user). Scannable sort of works (it is not 100% reliable either), but I loathe the idea of opening a separate app to capture a document and then have to waste a bunch of time sorting multiple notes out later. EN added Scannable's functionality to the app, and it needs to "just work." I've seen lots of threads, but most describe more specific glitches - in my case the camera features don't work at all. Anyone else seeing a total lack of camera "scanning" functionality? Perhaps if we gather enough useful data, we could get something fixed.

  14. This will be the 3rd time I feedback this. I've submitted a support ticket and commented on a blog post on Evernote without a response. The new camera function on the new Evernote app is not really smart as you might claim. In real life use, at least for me, it doesn't do anything that helps scan documents faster. It almost always capture the image before my camera focuses The camera flash is sometimes on and sometimes off even though I set it to "ON" It doesn't detect my Post-it® notes. It always recognize them as a black and white document or color document Yes, I can switch it to process as Post-it but the processing does make them look like the captured Post-its but merely a color document tagged as Post-it. It means, they are just like color documents, not Post-it images. I cannot save a photo unless I switch to manual because you guys at Evernote presumes everybody wants to take a picture of a document in auto mode What's wrong with the older camera function when I can mix and match the different kinds of images I want to capture, because I don't need the phone to help me recognize the document or card by analyzing the size or color or what. I've always appreciated how simple Evernote is and it helps me organize and process my information. I stuck to it despite some minor issues over the years, but now I'm getting the sense that the service and app quality in Evernote is slipping. When as you guys try to do more new things, the basic things really don't really need to change, it just needs to work well and fast for some of us.
  15. Hi all, Earlier today we released Evernote for iOS 7.7, and it should be available to everyone in the App Store shortly. This release contains a major overhaul of our camera functionality. We've learned a lot from Evernote Scannable, and wanted to make the Evernote camera even more powerful for all users and more familiar to our new users coming from Scannable. New Features in 7.7: New Camera functionality:No more swiping between camera modes! We are striving to make our camera as easy to use as possible. The camera will now open in “auto mode” (iPhone 4S and iPod Touch will open in manual mode).Point your camera at a document, Post-it® Note, business card, Moleskin, or receipt, and voila! We capture the image automagically. You’ll see your images in a tray instead of the little 4x4 quad at the bottom. Tap an image and you can modify it directly before saving the note:Change the image type (Not a business card? Change it to a document or just a photo with a couple taps.)Crop (crop documents by dragging corners independently, crop photos by dragging sides or corners)RotateCaptures recognized as business cards will be OCR’ed and pre-populated. We’ll even pull-in data from LinkedIn (if you’re connected). This remains a Premium feature, but there is a free 5 card trial or one year of business card scanning when you connect to LinkedIn.Don’t like “auto mode”? Tap the camera mode icon in the top right corner to switch to manual mode.Want to control the flash? Toggle through flash modes (On, Auto, Off) by tapping the lightning bolt icon. While in Auto Camera mode, the flash will operate in torch mode in low-light conditions (with flash in auto mode) or in all light conditions (with flash turned on). This means that the flash will turn on at 20% brightness to help pinpoint document edges and corners for the best possible capture.Want to take a selfie? Go for it! Tap the two-arrow icon in the top left, and you’ll suddenly be staring at yourself. (Note: you’re in control here - we won’t auto-capture when you’re in this mode.)Toggle to your camera roll. We decided that every other camera app out there is on to something when they let you toggle to your camera roll to select images. You’ll also notice we cleaned up this view a touch on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.Read more about the new camera in the Evernote Blog: Picture Great Things With Evernote’s New iOS Camera FunctionalityStart a Work Chat from the home screenBy combining quick note buttons for camera and photos, you now have the ability to start a new Work Chat using the Work Chat quick button on the far right of the home screen.Evernote for Apple Watch (included in 7.6.6 plus a few bug fixes in this release)Dictate notes into Apple Watch and they'll be transcribed and synced to EvernoteSee recently created, updated, and viewed notesDictate searches and see results on your Apple WatchCreate reminders and get notified about items due todayAvailable to Apple Watch users on 4/24/15Lots of bug fixes through the app and Today widgetYou can download the Evernote for iOS app from the App Store. We think the new camera is magical and hope you do too. Please let us know what you think. Cheers!
  16. I use the camera on my phone extensively for taking pictures within my notes. The quality of the photos and the ease of use made it possible for me to stop carrying my digital camera all the time. This has enabled me to use Evernote exclusively for organization both at work and at home. However, the most recent update has changed this. The camera features have changed, the zoom bar is gone, and the camera struggles to focus as quickly as I need it to. Is there a way to change the camera features back? If not, I cannot see myself continuing to use Evernote, as I would also have to carry a camera, and then try to incorporate the pictures from that into my notes.
  17. Using Android version 5.0.2 on an HTC One X. Tried to take a photo of some text on a sheet of paper using the updated evernote camera. It wouldn't focus at all on the text which remained blurred in the image. Switching to the stock camera app in the one x, the same image focused fine. Is there some manual way of focusing? The old version was fine in this regard Thanks
  18. I missed and clicked the wrong app for the default camera, I have 4 camera apps installed, and I want to edit the currently set default camera. I am running Evernote on a Galaxy S II running 4.0.3. I just got upgraded to that OS so I know it's likely easy, I just haven't found it yet. Can someone give me a clue? Thanks Carolyn
  19. Hey all, While in evernote on my android phone (galaxy S3), a pop up question appeared when i went to use the 'document camera'. I have used it successfully many times before. With out reading the message, I pushed the button to get rid of the pop up. Too late I realized that I had just made the regular camera the default for evernote. Now when I tap the 'document camera' button on my evernote widget the regular camera comes up rather than the evernote camera or document camera. If I push the back button I go back to a blank note, and can get to the document camera from there. I can't find where/how to reset the evernote camera app back to evernote. Can't find a setting in evernote. When I look in my phone settings under 'default applications', there is no entry for evernote or the camera. Any help would be appreciated. Mike
  20. Camera light is always on while taking pictures through the app. Any way to turn it off? Thanks
  21. Hi, When I create a new note using the camera on my Ipad2, the pictures are kept on the IPAD and on Evernote. So I end up with a bunch of pictures in the photo gallery, mixed with regular pictures taken from outside evernote. And there does not seem to be a way to quickly identify the pictures coming from Evernote and delete them. Is there a way to prevent this? It's really annoying! Thanks!
  22. Is it possible to capture text highlighted on a page of a printed document to a new note. use case: read document and highlight important text use mobile phone Evernote to open camera an capture page only highlighted text is captured to a new note

Images that i click on Evernote are inverted( i.e upside down)... am using galaxy S3... i tried switching off the screen-rotation mode.. i had aslo cheked takin pictures with ma mobile inverted, thereby resulting in an image that is exactly same as the one dat i take upright... what is the issue??? please help.. by the way, the camera worked absolutely fine for the first week of my usage.. but since 3 days back suddenly it has started takin pictures upside down.. i had also tried switchin off the multi shot mode... pls help... letting the users rotate the images within their notes is an important feature which is missing in this app..
  25. I've been taking photos through evernote using the page camera of slides. Sometimes it randomly cuts off portions of the slides, sometimes it works perfectly. As far as I can tell, I'm not doing anything differently between when it works and when it doesn't. Is this a bug or am I missing something about how to take the photos sometimes without realizing it? Also, I turn the flash off but when it is not in the process of photographing, the flash's light stays on constantly...like a flashlight. I'm using an iphone 4s with iOS 6.1.3. Thanks!
