  1. I don't often use Evernote and I am unlikely to commit more to it or upgrade because of the text formatting differences between Evernote and other apps, but that aside, here are two smaller improvements that would get me to upgrade if they are premium only. Offer a view annotations only option. If I am reviewing annotations in a 1000 page document, do I want to review all 1000 pages, or just the annotations that were placed on just 1% of 1% of the pages?! 1000 pages or 1 page, the answer I hope is obvious. Secondly, in the Cleary extension, please let me choose the Notebook it goes into when first synced. I now have to manually edit each time which means logging in via the browser instead of getting on with my work.
  2. Annotation mode is quite nice in Evernote, but I can't find out how to search within a PDF while it's open in annotation mode. My request, to summarize, is to provide search capability in annotation mode and the ability for annotation mode to respond to the current focused page in a note. Use Case: Let's say that I've found the text I want to annotate, and it's way down towards the bottom of a long PDF. There doesn't appear to be a way to tell Evernote "open annotation mode and jump to the current page so I can highlight this". Nor can I open annotation mode and search for the text in order to get to the place I want to highlight. This is quite cumbersome. I'd love to hear how folks have gotten around this limitation or any other suggestions.
  3. Annotation is broken on OS X in version 5.6. Evernote support told me that Evernote annoation will not function when Notability is installed, and recommended uninstalling Notability. Is this the actual view of Evernote's development staff? That we should remove the software of another, very reputable developer in order to use Evernote?
  4. EN ver: 5.6.4.4632 While annotating a pdf that is attached to a note, if I make a change to the note (e.g. add a todo checkbox or type a reminder regarding the note) the attached pdf file is removed from the note and the annotation window throws an error saying the pdf was removed. It gives me the option to save the annotated pdf in a new note and none of the annotations are lost. If I move the newly created pdf to the original note everything is fine, but I still cannot modify the note if I start annotating again. There are several workarounds for this but it is annoying.
  5. Hi there, I'm wondering if there's a way to (say) highlight passages in a pdf and then extract/send only the highlighted (or otherwise marked-up) text to Evernote. Ideally I'd like to be able to grab key passages from research papers without having to export the entire annotated pdf. I'm interested in whether this is possible in OSX (using Adobe, Skim, or something else) and also for iPad (using, say, Goodreader). In looking I've only found how to export an entire flattened pdf to Evernote, rather than only the passages of interest. Any ideas? Thanks!
  6. My computer is rapidly creating new files. Evernote is stumped. They are located in my directory: Users / Name / AppData / Local /EvernoteNW / Cache Couple examples: 9fba95c2df9385ba_0 2aa73efe64b33afb_0 Each file is 1 KB in size There are more of them every day. 1,477 files on 5/20 when Support was contacted 1,622 files on 5/23 1,905 files on 5/27 1,917 files on 5/27 after a full restoration 2,143 files on 5/31 Latest communication from Support: "We want to let you know that we are looking into this issue, we will contact you back as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding." Version 5.4.0.3698 (271698) Public Does anyone have an idea what is creating these files in the EvernoteNW directory?
  7. Greetings, Here at our high school we are BYOD and platform agnostic as we have been since 2000. We have some teacher generated anthologies (from public domain work) that we want students to be able to read and annotate on a variety of platforms including iOS, Mac OS, Windows 7, Windows 8, Android, etc. At the moment, the Nook app (not for long I'm sure) permits upload of pdf, commenting and highlighting that synchronizes across devices (provided one has a B/N account). The Kindle app does not appear to import pdf. Adobe Digital Editions will read across platforms, but won's synchronize annotations. Optimal would be a third party Evernote app that functioned as a reader but kept its comments, etc. directly in Evernote and maintained the synchronization. Does it exist out there somewhere?
  8. Hello everyone. I did my best to search the forums for anyone having my exact problem, but was unfortunately unable to find a solution to my issue. Essentially, I have a paper form that I scanned to pdf. This is a non-editable pdf, so I am using the Foxit typewriter tool to add text into the form boxes by hand. I save the pdf, upload to Evernote. Everything is fine. Foxit Typerwriter text is appearing just fine in Evernote on my PC, regardless of the tool I use to view the pdf. However, when I open the same pdf through my iOS mobile Evernote app, all I am seeing is the blank form. The typewriter text I added does not seem to be there. I can print the document, text is there. I simply cannot view the typerwriter text when viewing the pdf in the mobile app. I can workaround this by printing the form, scanning it again and reuploading it to Evernote, but obviously thats not ideal. Has anyone else had this problem? Feel free to move this topic if I posted in the wrong forum. Thank you in advance. ~MichaelWearden
  9. I'm a little disappointed in the ability to draw on a PDF in Skitch. I review a lot of papers and in all of the other tools I've used, one of the best way to make notes is to "draw" on the PDF (essentially just handwriting). However, in Skitch, this isn't really possible because when you zoom in to do the writing, picking up your pen at all ends the annotation you're currently working on. This means if you want to write a letter like a 'T' or 'H', it's pretty much impossible. As soon as you pick up the stylus, the previous line gets locked and now instead of drawing the crossbar, you're selecting the previous line again. I realize that one of the major design decisions for the Skitch editing style is to allow all of the annotations to be selectable, but not being able to write on the PDF is a big pain. I know that there is also a text box option, but this option doesn't seem to work well across devices. If I set the text to flow a certain way by resizing the box on my iPad, when I open up the PDF on my Mac, the text box doesn't reflow and flows all the way out of the page which makes it unreadable. I also can't make the text small enough to fit in many of the margins for the kinds of papers that I'm reviewing.
  10. Hello! I have just recently started using Evernote to gather articles I am interested in, especially from the Web with the Web Clipper. I really like the fact that I can highlight sentences, and I was wondering if there is any way (third-party included) for me to add a note to a particular highlight or to the side of the note, as I would do if I had pen and paper.
  11. Sorry if this topic's been discussed in other thread, I just want to know if it's feasible. I'm using the Mac version, and I'm currently using Notational Velocity while annotating a pdf. It'd be nice if I could keep all my notes together.
  12. Hi everybody, I understood that with the new iOS Version of EN it´s possible to annotate pdf attachments. Opening the pdf and annotating is working - but after saving and closing the pdf the annotations are gone..... any ideas ? TIA Walter HW: iPAD latest generation iOS Version 7.0.2 EN Version 7.0.2.304424 Update 2013/10 It seems that the annotation function depends on the PDF file. After I opened the file in another app (e.g. Note plus) saved it and pushed it back to Evernote, the annotation in EV works.
  13. Hello - So I've been trying to figure this out on my own and figured that I would like to ask the experts their thoughts! Situation: Real Estate agent has too many buyers and is leveraging her team to help them show client's housesProperties that they see are in a PDFNeed to use app that will allow clients to take notes etc. on PDF Sync the app with Evernote for team leader to review likes, dislikes, etc. I've looked at a couple of the apps out there that work well, but they all seem to have 1 shortcoming or another. In addition to the situation outlined above it would be excellent to be able to do the following: Select which notebook the PDF will sync to when exported from App (i.e. sync to a particular client's name) - could be done with tags too.Would allow other people to add notes to the files in evernoteThanks in advance for all the help! (attached is the PDF that we would be annotating) Cloud Buyer Tour w. Notes (short).pdf
  14. I just signed up to Evernote Premium and am disappointed to find that it does not seem to index (or even allow me to read) the many Annotations I have in my PDFs. While the OCR seems fine (although that the file cap is 50Mb, and the OCR cap is 25Mb is a source of annoyance), all of the things I'm really interested in searching are in the Annotations, which just appear as "flat" inaccessible speech bubbles. Am I doing it wrong? I'd have thought this was a fairly important feature. Thanks for your help
