  1. Hello, I annotate many images and PDF's in EN. Of these images/pdf's there are items which are actionable. I normally indicate actionable items on an image by annotating it with an "Attention" stamp. My question is, how can I search for any notes that contain the "Attention" stamp as part of the annotation? I know I can add a checkbox to the note, and perform a search for any "To Do" items. I also know that I can use "Tags" in the same fashion. However, I'm trying to avoid having to use either of those two avenues. Can searching for a specific "Stamp" in an annotation be done?
  2. Hey Evernote community, I like to annotate PDF's using Evernote. It's simple and quick to load on a laptop but it is a different experience on an Android tablet/phone. For example, a 44mb PDF through Evernote can't be loaded on my Nexus 9, but it can on my Nexus 5. Although, the latter took about 5 minutes to load and it is quite hard to read on a phone as well, let alone annotate. I was wondering if: I should still consider using Evernote to annotate on Android if there is a way of optimising my experience; or if I should just switch to another method, i.e. Dropbox/Adobe or any other combination Thanks guys - Stephane
  3. Hi guys! Using your desktop app on macOS Sierra 10.12.1 (had some problems to subscribe but finally found a workaround and another problem during annotating a PDF but Ellen from your Support helped me well. She advised me to report here my idea: why there isn't anywhere the page number we are currently annotating and although under each in the right pane ? (check my attach) Regards
  4. Is it correct that you cannot annotate an individual note in EN for the web? I know you can it do in EN for Windows. I don't know about EN for Mac. More generally, is there any "help page" that lists: Which EN features are available only on EN for Windows but not on EN for the web? and which EN features are available only on EN for the web but not on EN for Windows? Knowing all the various platform feature differences would help me as I develop a "workflow" to process about thirty-thousand notes.
  5. Hello, I really love the PDF annotation feature. I would like to know if it is possible to have a complete summary of every annotation I make ? Actually on a document, I have 57 annotations, and only 11 show up on my annotation summary. Is there a function that allows me to make 'em all appears? Thanks a lot
  6. Hi all, We released Evernote for iOS 7.16 earlier today. This release includes a re-write of the note editor, the ability to add attachments with the iOS Document Picker, and annotation improvements. Notable fixes and improvements: New note editor with consistent formatting across clients The iOS note editor has been completely rewritten - everything should work the same, but better This initial release of the new editor was focused on feature parity with the old iOS note editor - this lays the groundwork for many improvements coming in future iOS releases Checkboxes look a little more modern Copy and past work better in edit and view modes Swiping the keyboard down when editing a note now closes the keyboard and returns to view mode New iOS Document Picker When editing a note, you can now tap the paper clip icon in the formatting bar to launch the iOS Document Picker You can then select a source location, i.e. iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc., based on the iOS apps you have installed with document picker extensions Select from the list of locations, and then select the file you would like to attach – a copy of that file will be added to your note Note: the camera icon in the formatting bar will now launch a prompt to take a photo (or scan) or open your photo library to add images Additional improvements Improved PDF annotation, especially when using the Apple Pencil Reduced minimum rectangle size for annotation Fixed issue where selection tool broke highlighting ink in sketches Improved sync performance Fixed several crashes You can download the Evernote for iOS app from the App Store. As always, please let us know what you think. Cheers!
  7. Hi everyone - a few feature requests that I was told to post here... I upgrade to Evernote premium largely to be able to mark up PDFs with my Apple Pencil on my iPad. I've noticed significant limitations. First, it's quite cumbersome to switch between interaction methods (e.g., highlighting vs. handwriting) - it's cumbersome to have to click several buttons and make multiple selections to highlight vs. write. This just takes too long when you have a lot of reading/writing. It would be hugely helpful to have multiple notation style icons that remain on screen so you can just click one button to change interaction style. Second, navigating the PDF while in a highlight mode is cumbersome. I realize you can use a two-finger scroll, but more often than not evernote fails to pick up my intention and simply remains put. Sometimes, if I don't hit the screen with exactly two fingers at the same time, it highlights or writes all over the page. In other notation programs, such as PDF expert, this isn't the case - it's much more effectively optimized. Third, you should consider adding some sort of highlighting tool other than just a marker. In Kindle, for example, highlighting behaves differently, and I can actually look up a list of highlighted text on a separate page. The evernote version simply treats this as me "drawing" over the text - there is no "smart" interaction. Fourth, formatting does not get "saved" when switching between notation modes. For example, if I click on "handwriting" from the highlighting mode, the font color stays yellow rather than reverting to black. Same with adding text - the text color would be yellow, rather than remembering my setting that all text should be black. This means that even after navigating menus to select "text" after "highlight," I have to change formatting every time I switch back and forth (font size, color). This is obnoxiously time consuming and inefficient, and I can't quite figure out why anyone would want it this way. In short, PDF markup is hugely import - for students reading articles, professionals, etc., and is a core feature of evernote premium, yet it behaves very poorly, even after months of the Apple pencil being on market. Can we expect an updated interface and notation feature set coming soon? This is critical to my use of evernote premium. Thanks
  8. As the title says and as the picture shows.
  9. I've just recently started revising my workflow to utilize more of the functionality of Evernote when I noticed there is not a "Save" function for pdf annotation. There is a "Save and Exit", but this requires exiting the annotation completely. Having a "Save" function that pushes an updated annotated version of the PDF to the main desktop client would be incredibly helpful, allowing me to save as I go without fear of my workstation crashing and losing a portion my current annotation (suffice to say, this just happened to me). I do understand that there is an automatic save function, whether that's at a time interval or when changes are flagged I don't know, but I would just prefer the ability to save manually if I notice signs of a potential system crash. Thanks for such a wonderful product! C_olinf
  10. I have been annotating a course workbook for a few weeks off and on. All of the sudden when I click the the "Annotate this PDF . . ." option nothing happens now. How can I troubleshoot this? Here is how I click to start annotation: https://www.evernote.com/l/ASRr5A2NBuNJDag7Y4Ph8zpQOzcaZrzedrQ I am version 6.8 (from appstore so autoupdates) https://www.evernote.com/l/ASSQlPGdDPNAuouBCg8hDVDxRuupwjqvpUU Update 1: I tested "annotate" on another PDF and it is working fine. So there must be something with the current note / pdf causing this. Here is a link to the note / pdf I am working on: https://www.evernote.com/l/ASQPpemepsJHfKvR9sRIZMBbgQNskrN_zmE Update 2: I dowloaded and made a copy of the PDF file. Then I opened in Adobe Acrobat and edited the file (optimized size) then saved the file under a new name. I then created a new Note with the new PDF and Annotate still will not work. It must be something with the PDF file (link in update 1) and the current annotations? Update 3: I exported the PDF to Word format then from Word saved back to PDF format. When I import that new PDF into a Note, Evernote does let me Annotate. However, I lost the ability to edit any previous annotations (there were several) and some of the annotations were garbled during the transitions. The PDF that is linked in Update 1 needs something done to it to make it annotatable. Any ideas?
  11. Is there a way to change the annotation summary display order?
  12. I've just figured out how to highlight PDFs, i.e. specifically to use the drawing tool to highlight academic readings. But now I can't work out why I can't see the highlights I've done on a Mac desktop over on my iPhone or iPad. What am I missing? Any suggestions?
  13. Hi! I love the function "annotations summary" from Evernote. Every important informations from a PDF I mark with the yellow highlighter, and after closing the PDF, Evernote shows me the summary of the sentences I highlighted! Awesome. Now, I want to to the same with webpages (clipped with web clipper on Safari) or a regular note. I can highlight it, but stays only on the document, without a summary of this highlighted information. I know that is possible to convert this annotations into PDFs itself, but I have problems trying to convert a clipped webpage to a PDF in Evernote. Is there a way to see an "annotations summary" of the highlighted information of from non-PDF-documents? Thanks!
  14. So guys, need your help, im going to college again(nutrition) and i want to be more paperless and efficient, beside that i like studying different kind of subjects, but unfortunately i have to keep printing pdfs for annotation and things like that, i also have a notebook with me for frequent annotations on things i find interesting, or read, saw somewhere. My main question is, which could be the right device for that use, handwriting notes, annotate on pdfs, draw, read ebook and make annotations there(points, arrows, handwritten notes, post its), save web articles for studying, ill use the evernote to keep all of them in the same place, but i need the manual thing on a portable device or ill start to get way too much mechanic and not creative, i like mind maping, drawing, highlighting, colors, for my learning. From what i saw, the ipad pro together with the notability app or the good notes 4 would be a good call(i heard those are good together with the evernote), but im new in this world and i want some suggestions, thats it, i currently have a lg g4, and this would be my first apple device maybe, need help. Edit: I already have a dell notebook for when i need a true desktop.
  15. I have 4 PDF files attached to one note. I get an option to annotate two of them, but not the other two. I don't get an "annotate" option via right-click menu either. Is there anything I can do to be able to annotate the third and fourth file too?
  16. If you want to annotate your note, but do not want the summary of your annotations included with your note do this: While you are in annotation mode, look down at the bottom of the annotation window, and uncheck "Include Annotation Summary" I wish you could select for this from Evernote general preferences.
  17. I am using an ipad and not a premium user. Earlier this week and even last night, I was able to highlight, note and add text notes to my pdf in Evernote. Then those slides would show up as annotated if you went to the view that shows..all, annotated and bookmark I had not signed up for the trial premium. But thought maybe I accidentally had signed up. This morning, my notes were gone and I could not get the little tool bar (that said: highlight, etc) to come up over the word or words if i select it. I signed up for trial annotation.. And it is definitely not what I was using because it opens another window and the pages only run vertically as well as the skitch tools appear on the right. The way that had come up before was a tool bar over the selected word where you could highlight, place a note or text Please let me know how I can get that tool bar back??? Thanks
  18. Hi, I use Penultimate and Evernote on a daily basis - both at work and in my personal life. I am convinced that together, these 2 products provide the best possible tool for organisation and efficiency. I use these apps on my iPad at work to take meeting notes. Typically, these meetings are centered around a pdf or ppt attachment that has been emailed earlier. Currently, I do one of 2 things: 1. I forward the email to my Evernote email address and open the attachments for annotation on my iPad. This lets me write, draw and type on the attachments using the paid annotation feature. OR 2. I print the attachment and take photos of each page separately to import into a Penultimate notebook (I sometimes use Scannable for this). Then, I can write and draw over the attachment any way I like. I prefer Option 2 because Penultimate allows me much greater flexibility and usability to freely make diagrams and write in a more responsive environment. However, the process of taking photos of each page is very cumbersome. Can the development team please consider adding a feature in Penultimate that allows us to email files directly to the app such that a new note is created with each page of the attachment on one page of the notebook? Alternately, can the annotation feature of Evernote be made as responsive to Stylus and as friendly as Penultimate? Thanks, SidJ
  19. Hello! Evernote is quickly becoming essential for my research as I'm able to quickly take screen shots/pictures right from the quick note pop-down tab. I love how you can just click the tab and have your note right at hand without having to quit an application or go anywhere. The trouble starts when you click "save to evernote." The note gets dumped into the unsorted notes, often without a meaningful title making it difficult to locate and tedious to recompile back into one note. I've tried just working with the actual note open through the evernote app, but there is no easy way to toggle between programs/windows, no easy way to capture screen shots of work done in another program (The note window must be open and in front, blocking any screen capture attempt). So my questions are these: Is there a way to specify where to save the quick note? Is there a way to have the content of your quick note join an existing note? Is there a way to annotate images directly from the quick note task bar? Lastly, I've never been able to get the shortcut keys for screen capture to work on my mac, any advice? Thanks everyone!!
  20. Greetings, Here at our high school we are BYOD and platform agnostic as we have been since 2000. We have some teacher generated anthologies (from public domain work) that we want students to be able to read and annotate on a variety of platforms including iOS, Mac OS, Windows 7, Windows 8, Android, etc. At the moment, the Nook app (not for long I'm sure) permits upload of pdf, commenting and highlighting that synchronizes across devices (provided one has a B/N account). The Kindle app does not appear to import pdf. Adobe Digital Editions will read across platforms, but won's synchronize annotations. Optimal would be a third party Evernote app that functioned as a reader but kept its comments, etc. directly in Evernote and maintained the synchronization. Does it exist out there somewhere?
  21. Hello everyone. I did my best to search the forums for anyone having my exact problem, but was unfortunately unable to find a solution to my issue. Essentially, I have a paper form that I scanned to pdf. This is a non-editable pdf, so I am using the Foxit typewriter tool to add text into the form boxes by hand. I save the pdf, upload to Evernote. Everything is fine. Foxit Typerwriter text is appearing just fine in Evernote on my PC, regardless of the tool I use to view the pdf. However, when I open the same pdf through my iOS mobile Evernote app, all I am seeing is the blank form. The typewriter text I added does not seem to be there. I can print the document, text is there. I simply cannot view the typerwriter text when viewing the pdf in the mobile app. I can workaround this by printing the form, scanning it again and reuploading it to Evernote, but obviously thats not ideal. Has anyone else had this problem? Feel free to move this topic if I posted in the wrong forum. Thank you in advance. ~MichaelWearden
  22. I'm a little disappointed in the ability to draw on a PDF in Skitch. I review a lot of papers and in all of the other tools I've used, one of the best way to make notes is to "draw" on the PDF (essentially just handwriting). However, in Skitch, this isn't really possible because when you zoom in to do the writing, picking up your pen at all ends the annotation you're currently working on. This means if you want to write a letter like a 'T' or 'H', it's pretty much impossible. As soon as you pick up the stylus, the previous line gets locked and now instead of drawing the crossbar, you're selecting the previous line again. I realize that one of the major design decisions for the Skitch editing style is to allow all of the annotations to be selectable, but not being able to write on the PDF is a big pain. I know that there is also a text box option, but this option doesn't seem to work well across devices. If I set the text to flow a certain way by resizing the box on my iPad, when I open up the PDF on my Mac, the text box doesn't reflow and flows all the way out of the page which makes it unreadable. I also can't make the text small enough to fit in many of the margins for the kinds of papers that I'm reviewing.
  23. Hello - So I've been trying to figure this out on my own and figured that I would like to ask the experts their thoughts! Situation: Real Estate agent has too many buyers and is leveraging her team to help them show client's housesProperties that they see are in a PDFNeed to use app that will allow clients to take notes etc. on PDF Sync the app with Evernote for team leader to review likes, dislikes, etc. I've looked at a couple of the apps out there that work well, but they all seem to have 1 shortcoming or another. In addition to the situation outlined above it would be excellent to be able to do the following: Select which notebook the PDF will sync to when exported from App (i.e. sync to a particular client's name) - could be done with tags too.Would allow other people to add notes to the files in evernoteThanks in advance for all the help! (attached is the PDF that we would be annotating) Cloud Buyer Tour w. Notes (short).pdf
