  1. Re I know this is nearly pantomime* season (well it is in the UK) and audiences everywhere (in the UK) will be gleefully shouting out phrases like "He's behind you!" and "Oh no, it's not!" but I didn't know that festival also occurred in the US. I appreciate the announcement and look forward to the update, my 8.16 beta 2 app is still firmly without Dark Mode and insists that "no new updates found". So @Shane D. I have to say, in answer to your post.. "Oh no, it's not!" (for some of us in the UK at least...) - and hey.. (You knew someone was bound to ask) What about Windows? 😏 * https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantomime
  2. Hello, i got a problem with note-notification. There is one Master-Account and some added android-devices. All devices are logged in with the same (master)account. If one device send a new notice, i want a loud notification on the other devices. But there is no notification. Besides i think there is a problem with the synchronization. I set in automatic sync after 15 minutes. It seems that it doesn't work. Does anyone have an idea what i'm doing wrong or what i should try? i think i set the options right..but it doesn't work the way I want it to..:-( Thanks!
  3. Hi there, We’ve seen questions from users asking how to adjust the location services and GPS settings in Evernote for Android. If you’re looking to disable location services and GPS tagging to notes within the Evernote Android application: Tap the options (three dots) button in upper right hand corner Tap Settings> Notes Uncheck the ‘Add location to new notes’ option (This will automatically disable the ‘Auto-title using location’ feature) If you want to keep location services enabled, but don’t want the location to be used in automatically in the title, simply uncheck Auto-title using location Note: If you notice the option, Add location to new notes is greyed out, you’ll need to enable the GPS on your device. To enable the GPS on your device within your Android Settings: (Note: Its possible the steps above may not be the correct steps for your specific Android device. If you are having trouble locating your device's location settings you may need to Google your device's location settings for more accurate steps) 1. Open the Settings application on your Android device 2. From the Location tab, turn on your device's GPS/location services. Once GPS is enabled, you should be able to adjust the Add location to new notes settings. If you have any other questions/issues regarding location services, please feel free to open a discussion thread, open a support ticket, or reach out to Shane D. directly via DM.
  4. Hi there, If you’re experiencing syncing issues with Evernote for Android, please see the following steps you can take to try and troubleshoot the issue, and hopefully fix it yourself: Check Evernote's status blog- Each week, the Evernote servers are updated with new versions of the various software components that power the service. During this time, the service can be slow or even intermittently unavailable. Check status.evernote.com to ensure that there isn't a server-side problem causing your sync error. Evernote Basic - If you have Evernote Basic, verify that you don't have more than two devices associated with your account in your account settings. Make sure you’re on the most current version of Evernote for Android. If you are not, please update (DO NOT reinstall) to the current version via the Play Store and retry syncing. Check your Evernote 'Trash' for any notes/items that you wish to keep. If there aren’t any notes you would like to keep, empty your Evernote Trash and retry syncing. (The Evernote ‘Trash’ is the third to last item listed on the bottom of the left-hand side bar) Try updating, and/or temporarily disabling, any security software or VPN that could cause internet connectivity issues and see if sync then works If this doesn’t work, see if there are any specific notes that are causing the syncing issue: With Evernote open, pull down on the screen to force a sync. It will fail, but this will put fresh data in the activity log. Tap on the ’three dot’ icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen to open the ‘Settings' menu. From the ’Settings’ menu, scroll to to the bottom and tap on Support > Send Activity Log Send the activity log to an email address you own Open the log file using an app like MS Word, Notepad, or Apple Notes and do a word search for Error, Failed, and/or Exception If you see the titles of one of your notes listed next to Error, Failed, and/or Exception, try copying the content of that note to a different location like, and then delete that note and empty it from the trash. (Repeat this process each note title you see) Retry syncing If you’re still experiencing sync issues, execute the following steps to rebuild the database on your Android device by reinstalling it. DISCLAIMER: (Be sure to execute the following steps exactly as they are listed. Improperly following the reinstall steps may cause irreparable damage and the loss of some of your notes/notebooks. If you do not feel comfortable proceeding with reinstalling Evernote on your Android Device, or need more assistance, stop here and open a support ticket or reach out to Shane D. via DM.) To reinstall Evernote for Android follow these steps: Before reinstalling Evernote for Android, make sure to copy the contents of any unsynced notes somewhere outside of the Evernote app. Any unsynced notes (notes marked by red corners) and photos are deleted when you reinstall the app. To save any unsynced photos to your Gallery, tap the options menu (three dots) and select Save to Downloads. If you're an advanced user and have many unsynced notes, let me know and I'll provide more instructions on how to save these. Then follow these steps: 1. Open the Play Store 2. Search for Evernote, choose it, then tap Uninstall 3. Restart your Android device 4. Download Evernote from the Play Store Hopefully, these steps helped you to fix any syncing issues you’ve been encountering. However, If none of these suggestions help, please see these best practices for opening a support ticket, and then contact us. If you'd like to open a ticket immediately, it's helpful to include the following in your ticket submission: A copy of your activity log A description of what is happening What version of Evernote you are using Which device your notes are not showing up on A list of all the steps you took before you contacted Evernote Support
  5. I'd like to request that you consider adding a setting for the reminder notification sound rather than just using the android default in the development roadmap for android. I'd like to create an Evernote specific sound when the reminder fires.
  6. Hi all, First post here. A few evernoters and I use the audio clip feature to capture conversations or meetings but when the phone locks screen, the clip is automatically stopped. We run note 3's and have have company policy that controls our luck screen timeouts (exchange sync) - any chance there is some work going on to make the audio record feature still work beyond locked screen? Would even be cool if there was the ability to pause/record from the lock screen like something like Spotify allows you to toggle with. Cheers
  7. Can someone teach me how to select multiple tags on the Android based app? I'm in the process of switching to organising by tags instead of notebooks. However, if I can't select by multiple tags in the Android app, wouldnt that absolutely defeat the purpose of having tags vis-a-vis notebooks? Thank you in advance.
  8. Is it possible to change the default font size in the mobile apps? Too small right now.
  9. Is it possible to make the android app function more like the windows desktop app? With dex station and chrombooks coming out , I believe this will be a trend . For example , multiple windows for the notes individually. Thanks
  10. I realize this will be of interest only to a subset of persons here, but it's a fairly large subset, so.... I recently bought a Samsung Note 8 running Android 7.1.1. I was disappointed to find that the ability to start creating an Evernote note on the lockscreen seems to be gone, since a specific item in the phone's Settings > Notification > Evernote is no longer available. (See my post regarding this in relation to Android 6.) However, the Note 8/Android 7 combination does allow you to replace one of the two shortcuts on the lockscreen, so I replaced Phone with Evernote, which does provide quick swipe access to the app. But then you have to start a new note manually. Then I discovered, under Settings > Phone > S Pen, the option "Screen off memo," which lets you create notes directly on the lockscreen, and this is where things got interesting. Interesting, dumb, and frustrating. Because if only these lockscreen notes could be synced to Evernote.... It seems, however, that lockscreen notes are saved to Samsung Notes, and Samsung Notes will sync to the Samsung account, but not to Evernote. Now, the separate app S Notes can sync to Evernote quite handily, but the lockscreen notes cannot be saved to it. S Notes downloaded to my phone automatically when I let Google restore apps, since I had it on my previous phone; apparently it may not appear on new Note 8s as such, but it's available in the Play Store. S Notes are different from Samsung Notes, and are much more highly functional--which would be why Samsung wouldn't supply them on new phones, because Samsung creates great hardware and then goes for dumb and frustrating on software. At any rate, there's good info on Samsung Notes vs. S Notes in a Reddit post here: http://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyNote8/comments/7100l6/difference_between_s_note_and_samsung_notes_and/. (scroll down to zolares' long comment). So S Notes sync nicely to EN; but lockscreen notes save to Samsung Notes, which can't sync to EN. The kludge I've worked out is to take notes on the lockscreen, and then share them manually from within Samsung Notes. This can be done from Samsung Notes' Share function, which will let you share as PDF (or as their proprietary format); then you can attach the PDF to an Evernote note. But I prefer a different option, which is to go to the lockscreen note in Samsung Notes and use the S Pen's Smart Select function to select the note's content and then share the resulting image to Evernote. Did I mention this was a kludge? But it does work, at least for short notes, and looks like it could be useful. Bonus: EN will scan the handwriting in the image (even my sloppy mess handwriting) and extract searchable text from it, making it easier to find the note later. OK, thanks for reading, hope this helps someone!
  11. Creating notes in NixNote (a native Linux client for Evernote, most recently being developed by https://github.com/robert7) can cause what appear to be empty notes in the Android App. If you create a note in NixNote and sync it, you'll see the note with a preview of your text on the Android app's list of notes. When you open the note, however, the Android app shows you an empty note (with prompts to edit or apply a template). This problem does not exist with Evernote web app. It opens these notes fine. The workaround: Use NixNote's editor to set a specific font. It appears that the way NixNote handles notes that only include a default font is fine for Evernote for Web but not for Evernote for Android. If you select your text and set it to any other font (or set it to any other font then set it back to the default font), the Android app can deal with it. This appears only to be an issue with notes created first in NixNote. How to: Create a note in NixNote Select all the text. Change the of the selected text to any other font.(Optionally, change it back). Sync the note and it will appear well in the Android App. Alternatively, you can create and sync a note in NixNote, open it in Evernote for Web (maybe the desktop apps, too?) and make a small change (add a space at the end, for instance). When Evernote for Web then saves your changes (pretty much instantly), your note will be visible in the Android app. Use this method if you have multiple fonts set in the note you've as the above 'how to' would set them all to be the same.
  12. Hi, Please add back the native Evernote function, to scan directly to PDF docs. Why was this removed at all?
  13. Version: 8.1_beta5_4391 On the new note editor for Android, there's yet another bug that causes random scrolling behavior when editing. This has been "fixed" a few times before, on both Windows and Android. This latest instance seems to be related to the new feature where you can tap anywhere on the note, and the editor switches to edit mode and places the caret at that location. This was enabled in a recent release, b ut it causes issues such as this, so it was removed, then more recently it was added back (and seemed to work ok). But now, if you edit a note multiple times with this method, it's impossible to edit the note in more t han one location: 1. Tap the note to go into edit mode 2. Insert text 3. Tap the checkmark 4. Scroll down and tap another spot on the note 5. Start typing, and the caret moves back to the location of the first edit. 6. While in edit mode, scroll back down and tap the second location. 7. Start typing, and the caret moves back to the location of the first edit. 8. Repeat ad infinitum
  14. Evernote for android will not let me markup a pdf, but I can on OS or Windows just fine. Does anyone know why? I am a premium subscriber.
  15. While I'm here I might as well report this one: Whenever you either continue a tickbox list (i.e. hit enter at the end of an existing tickbox line) or start a new tickbox line through the text options bar, an extra space gets added right after the tickbox that you'll have to remove manually. I've made the screenshot below in evernote for windows because it's a bit easier to upload to the forum, but this is essentially what happens. This bug got introduced a while ago and I've gotten into the habit of hitting backspace after adding a tickbox, but it's not consistent anymore with recent updates, so I sometimes end up removing the new tickbox instead. It seems to be exclusive to the Android client, Evernote for Windows does not display this behaviour.
  16. Greetings, I've been battling with trying to share notebooks with my wife for over a week now. I have shared the notebooks and my android simply says pending. ex. I've shared to xxxxx@gmail.com and under shared notebook I see "Who can access" shows xxxx@gmail.com pending. On my wife's phone I see no sign of my sharing. I checked her gmail account and I see nothing. I checked spam and every other folder she has on her gmail but nothing indicating my share. I've repeated this process many time with different notebooks and nothing works. What am I missing? Or is this function simply no working anymore?
  17. I love to share notebooks, but without a notification that the shared notebook has been updated (either by a new note created in the notebook OR an edit to an existing note), the shared notebooks lose a significant amount of their usefulness and utility. I've seen this suggestion posted a couple of times in this forum, and I hope that maybe this post will gain some traction unlike the others. I've seen at least one suggestion for a 3rd party workaround, but this really should be a native feature of the software, especially for paid users such as myself. Strangely, one of the features that I like about Evernote is how streamlined it is, and the lack of superfluous notifications like many apps bombard you with. However, in this one instance, notifications would be very welcome! If my teammate makes an edit to a notebook, a popup in Windows or my phone would let me know to review their edits. I was an early adopter of Evernote, and this is really my biggest complaint about the software. Please correct this glaring omission! Thanks!
  18. I cannot login the Evernote app by Google account after my phone was changed. It mentioned relating to Internet problem but I still cannot login no matter using WiFi or data and even reinstalled several times. Thanks for helping.
  19. Hi, I heavily rely on the "Direct pen input" feature on my Note 4. It's basically let's the users write on screen and converts the handwriting to text in real time. Like this: http://static1.squarespace.com/static/5188700fe4b091a1ff87c3d3/t/54e39843e4b0b87a7419d3cc/1424201798399/ Together with Evernote it makes a wonderful note taking combo, esp. for lecture notes. 7.8.2 update broke this. When I hover the S-Pen on the note area, I can't see the "blue T", starting the direct pen input feature. I can still use it on the note title though. Any ideas how to get it back? Or, could you, please, fix it in a next version? Thanks, Tadeas
  20. I'm a new users and can't see how to move a photo from my Android (specifically via Google Photos) to a specific Note. If I select a photo to share on my Android (Pixel 2) it gives me the option to send to Evernote, but then it appears as a new note in Evernote. I want to send the photo to a specific note. Is this possible?
  21. I've had this issue for years now on multiple phones. If I have a notification due today, then I edit the note on another platform to change the notification to say tomorrow, when my android syncs the notification comes up at that point. So I end up with all these dodgy notifications when they shouldn't be coming up. My work around is to disable all Evernote notifications on my Android, and just use my google calendar to create a notification by default for evernote notes synced via cronofy. Maybe these issues are somehow related to Cronofy sync, since others aren't reporting this fault, is it just me? Can we please fix the notifications, it would be far more useful to have these working for direct access to the note rather than the workaround.
  22. Using a galaxy s8 plus with the samsung keyboard for reference, I encountered two bugs: 1. Text shortcuts don't work in evernote (they work in every other app) 2. If you have text on a line, and place the cursor at the start of that line and start typing numbers, it starts to insert additional duplicate numbers into the text. This only happens at the start of a new line, with text directly after your cursor (no spaces). This bug is related to smart typing, and I've gone through testing all of smart typing options. It only happens with predictive text turned on. Auto replace, auto spell check, auto capitalize, auto spacing, and auto punctuate all have no effect on this bug, so it's specific to showing predicted text based on what you've entered and not something that the keyboard is trying to modify. Since predictive text is a feature I use extensively, simply turning it off is not an option. Considering no other app has this problem, I shouldn't have to either.
  23. Using EN on a Chromebook, I need to use my fingers to scroll. Would be nice to have scrolling support on the track pad or mouse. Better mouse support in general would be great, too. (it's a little flakey)
  24. hi so i've been using Evernote for like a year or 2 now had almost no problem with it til some time ago a noticed the API for signing in via google account is gone..along with re-login request ... dealt with those and moved along now, yesterday i had to reset my tablet .. so after resetting .. the first thing i do always i update my Googe play store , since the stoke version shows me most applicarions are not compatible.. so while it updates i queue up sevral apps so it starts after all done.. Evernote was queued seccessfully ... after update done..i noticed no app was queued.. so while i was queuing apps .. i found Evernote install button not there..i open the app page ..i listed as incompatible with my device and wont allow me to install it how was compatible a moment ago (if we ignored the 2 years im using it) and after updating the store is grayed out??? my tablet is running kitkat 4.2.2
  25. Using the Android version of Evernote, I can't click and open attached PDFs. The PDF shows as an attachment in the note, but does not interact to clicks with the mouse or touches with the touch screen. This is on a Samsung Chromebook Pro I know I can use the Web version, but I really don't want to because I would like offline support and really need ink annotation of PDFs, which isn't well supported in the Web version.
