  1. I noticed that every time I edit a Note, it keeps another instance of that note with the most recent edit I made. It's as if seeing a bunch of versions of edit I made from the first time I created the note to the last edit I made.
  2. The note style formatting bar is gone and I cannot get it back. I'm using Evernote 8.13.2 on an Android 8.0.0 system that I've been using Evernote on for *YEARS*. How do I get it back? Focus is on the note content, text, not the title.
  3. Often when I sync Evernote on my Android phone it pops up a little message to say it failed to "send" a specific note - always the same one, a recipe note I no longer have for more than a year. The sync works fine. The message does not appear in iOS, Windows, Mac or any Web browser. Is there any way to stop it appearing? It's not a major problem but it looks daft.
  4. I am a college student but also a disabled vet and I use Evernote to record my lectures for reference later. There have been many times that I have wanted to take a photo of the board or screen while recording. Sadly, if you need to access any other function on your phone or within Evernote the audio automatically cancels. This is a huge problem from me and I don't understand why it should be this way. I could be using any voice recording ap but I wanted to be able to keep all of my school related work centralized in one place and accessible from both of my computers as well as my phone. I pay for Evernote for this reason and yet such a simple thing is inaccessible.
  5. I'm reporting this post to Evernote myself to make sure they're OK with me sharing the information, and I'll tell you up front that I haven't made this work yet; but I figure that if anyone is interested (and the post is still here in a couple of days) a problem shared is a problem that may get sorted quicker. First, the good news. It seems that it may be possible to increase the amount of internal storage available to unrooted Androids running 6.0+. It's NOT working for me yet, but here's the deal - I saw a reference in a Linux group to a snazzy app called SSHelper being able to access SD cards like internal memory. It depends on your Android version and the device manufacturer, and requires some mid-to higher-level tech skills - possibly ones better than mine, because I didn't achieve this yet! 😕 WARNING If you're not very sure what you are doing with this - beware: the author makes the point very strongly that mistakes can result in your device becoming bricked: an unresponsive doorstop useful only in windy weather. If you decide to read on, it is at your Own Risk. (-And there's a LOT here!!) The alleged method requires SSHelper to be installed and active on your device, which should also be in Developer Mode and USB-linked to a (Windows or Linux) computer with some "Android Debug Bridge" software installed. I also installed WinSCP and ADB software on my Windows laptop. All these apps are free, and the main author and developer here has a solid record of mainstream software development, so mistakes apart this appears to be a useful hack. As a useful side-effect I now have full wifi access to the SD card, which is nice.. Now: the catch(es) SSHelper's original page waxes lyrical about Google / Samsung's attitude to internal vs external storage, but describes a method whereby converting an SD card wholly or partially (not recommended) to dedicated internal storage, the device can be tricked persuaded to 'see' the SD card as valid storage, and winds up with - " Check the amount of available storage space on your device — it should be larger by the size of the private allocation you just made." BUT the update page includes the comment "An unsolved but serious problem in the Android ecosystem is access to external storage, which at the time of writing is somewhere between difficult and impossible (this topic is fully addressed in the main documentation section above). To me this is the single most glaring deficiency in the present Android environment." - which to me sounds like all this is not going to work... The author's instructions are not exactly detailed - he says "Open a terminal session in the directory containing the ADB executable (named "adb.exe" on Windows and "adb" on Linux)." without specifying what terminal to use. I tried starting ADB directly - no. Used WinSCP and tried to get to the ADB folder on my hard drive... nope. Then I started web searching and found https://android.gadgethacks.com/how-to/make-adb-fastboot-work-any-folder-windows-0177198/ which seems not to use a terminal session at all... At which point I decided I'd been distracted too long by shiny new toys and need to do some work. So I documented (and Evernoted) all of this to act as a reminder and reference for my holiday-soaked brain for later when I can spare more time* - and also a potential post in the Forums for all you happy and much smarter folks who might, out of the kindness of your hearts, tell me how to make this darn thing work!!! * the flashback image of a screen door blowing back and forth banging against a small inert bricked tablet has also been in my mind... Thanks (and congratulations) if you made it this far - if anyone gets this to work, please post an "idiot's guide" level instruction sheet for all us humble mortals out here! I am definitely not worthy... 😌 For: SSHelper and WinSCP (Windows & Linux) installation - see https://arachnoid.com/android/SSHelper/ - be sure to read this section: https://arachnoid.com/android/SSHelper/#x_new_version_update and check the heading "External Storage Access" on the main page Device Developer Mode - see your device user guide or do a web search ADB software - beware: the link on SSHelper's page goes to v23 of the software. It's now up to v29 which is available here (I advised SSHelper) - https://dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools-latest-windows.zip
  6. Check out the video recently announced in the forums and posted here: A number of highly requested features are in the process of being implemented--not ready for release yet, as I understand it, but approaching beta. They include to-do lists with strikethrough, styles, text colors, highlight colors--a lot of the things that are already present in the beta Web editor. Plus better tag management and cross-platform consistency.
  7. Hi folks, We are now slowly rolling out Evernote for Android 8.12 to our users. If you haven't seen the update in the Google Play Store yet, you will see it coming in the next few days. Fixed: The Create Notebook dialog and keyboard no longer disappear when you rotate your device while using dark theme. When you try to change settings from the 4x2 widget, the passcode lock screen no longer appears twice. Enjoy and please let us know if you have feedback.
  8. After a recent malware scare, the document scanning app CamScanner has been pulled from the Play store. If you have a version installed on your Android device, you might want to uninstall it at least temporarily and look into this a bit further. Other versions of the app are - apparently- safe. See this external post for more details - https://www.androidpolice.com/2019/08/28/camscanner-play-store-malware/
  9. Hello Everyone, We just finished rolling out our 8.11 update to 100% of our Android customers. Improved: - We've spiffed up search to help you find exactly what you’re looking for. Fixed: - The Saved Search shortcut in the home screen was rudely ignoring tag wildcards. We gave it a stern talking-to and it’s behaving itself now. - When you opened a note from search results, text highlighting would sometimes disappear, but that’s a thing of the past. - We made some security updates because, well, it's important. And it feels good.
  10. Don't know when this sneaked out, but I wasn't aware until just now that https://www.cnet.com/how-to/turn-a-photo-of-data-into-a-microsoft-excel-spreadsheet/ Interesting... 🤔
  12. Dictate function ceased working. It always worked well before. When I click the microphone icon it makes a beep and then stops immediately so I cannot dictate. Is this possibly related to latest Android update?
  13. When you open an existing note in Evernote Android, the edit button appears in bottom right corner. Is there a way to turn this feature on/off? I am aware that it will become easier to create mistakes with unwanted editing. Thanks, Chris
  14. Hello, i got a problem with note-notification. There is one Master-Account and some added android-devices. All devices are logged in with the same (master)account. If one device send a new notice, i want a loud notification on the other devices. But there is no notification. Besides i think there is a problem with the synchronization. I set in automatic sync after 15 minutes. It seems that it doesn't work. Does anyone have an idea what i'm doing wrong or what i should try? i think i set the options right..but it doesn't work the way I want it to..:-( Thanks!
  15. Hi there, We’ve seen questions from users asking how to adjust the location services and GPS settings in Evernote for Android. If you’re looking to disable location services and GPS tagging to notes within the Evernote Android application: Tap the options (three dots) button in upper right hand corner Tap Settings> Notes Uncheck the ‘Add location to new notes’ option (This will automatically disable the ‘Auto-title using location’ feature) If you want to keep location services enabled, but don’t want the location to be used in automatically in the title, simply uncheck Auto-title using location Note: If you notice the option, Add location to new notes is greyed out, you’ll need to enable the GPS on your device. To enable the GPS on your device within your Android Settings: (Note: Its possible the steps above may not be the correct steps for your specific Android device. If you are having trouble locating your device's location settings you may need to Google your device's location settings for more accurate steps) 1. Open the Settings application on your Android device 2. From the Location tab, turn on your device's GPS/location services. Once GPS is enabled, you should be able to adjust the Add location to new notes settings. If you have any other questions/issues regarding location services, please feel free to open a discussion thread, open a support ticket, or reach out to Shane D. directly via DM.
  16. Hi there, If you’re experiencing syncing issues with Evernote for Android, please see the following steps you can take to try and troubleshoot the issue, and hopefully fix it yourself: Check Evernote's status blog- Each week, the Evernote servers are updated with new versions of the various software components that power the service. During this time, the service can be slow or even intermittently unavailable. Check status.evernote.com to ensure that there isn't a server-side problem causing your sync error. Evernote Basic - If you have Evernote Basic, verify that you don't have more than two devices associated with your account in your account settings. Make sure you’re on the most current version of Evernote for Android. If you are not, please update (DO NOT reinstall) to the current version via the Play Store and retry syncing. Check your Evernote 'Trash' for any notes/items that you wish to keep. If there aren’t any notes you would like to keep, empty your Evernote Trash and retry syncing. (The Evernote ‘Trash’ is the third to last item listed on the bottom of the left-hand side bar) Try updating, and/or temporarily disabling, any security software or VPN that could cause internet connectivity issues and see if sync then works If this doesn’t work, see if there are any specific notes that are causing the syncing issue: With Evernote open, pull down on the screen to force a sync. It will fail, but this will put fresh data in the activity log. Tap on the ’three dot’ icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen to open the ‘Settings' menu. From the ’Settings’ menu, scroll to to the bottom and tap on Support > Send Activity Log Send the activity log to an email address you own Open the log file using an app like MS Word, Notepad, or Apple Notes and do a word search for Error, Failed, and/or Exception If you see the titles of one of your notes listed next to Error, Failed, and/or Exception, try copying the content of that note to a different location like, and then delete that note and empty it from the trash. (Repeat this process each note title you see) Retry syncing If you’re still experiencing sync issues, execute the following steps to rebuild the database on your Android device by reinstalling it. DISCLAIMER: (Be sure to execute the following steps exactly as they are listed. Improperly following the reinstall steps may cause irreparable damage and the loss of some of your notes/notebooks. If you do not feel comfortable proceeding with reinstalling Evernote on your Android Device, or need more assistance, stop here and open a support ticket or reach out to Shane D. via DM.) To reinstall Evernote for Android follow these steps: Before reinstalling Evernote for Android, make sure to copy the contents of any unsynced notes somewhere outside of the Evernote app. Any unsynced notes (notes marked by red corners) and photos are deleted when you reinstall the app. To save any unsynced photos to your Gallery, tap the options menu (three dots) and select Save to Downloads. If you're an advanced user and have many unsynced notes, let me know and I'll provide more instructions on how to save these. Then follow these steps: 1. Open the Play Store 2. Search for Evernote, choose it, then tap Uninstall 3. Restart your Android device 4. Download Evernote from the Play Store Hopefully, these steps helped you to fix any syncing issues you’ve been encountering. However, If none of these suggestions help, please see these best practices for opening a support ticket, and then contact us. If you'd like to open a ticket immediately, it's helpful to include the following in your ticket submission: A copy of your activity log A description of what is happening What version of Evernote you are using Which device your notes are not showing up on A list of all the steps you took before you contacted Evernote Support
  17. Re I know this is nearly pantomime* season (well it is in the UK) and audiences everywhere (in the UK) will be gleefully shouting out phrases like "He's behind you!" and "Oh no, it's not!" but I didn't know that festival also occurred in the US. I appreciate the announcement and look forward to the update, my 8.16 beta 2 app is still firmly without Dark Mode and insists that "no new updates found". So @Shane D. I have to say, in answer to your post.. "Oh no, it's not!" (for some of us in the UK at least...) - and hey.. (You knew someone was bound to ask) What about Windows? 😏 * https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantomime
  18. Creating notes in NixNote (a native Linux client for Evernote, most recently being developed by https://github.com/robert7) can cause what appear to be empty notes in the Android App. If you create a note in NixNote and sync it, you'll see the note with a preview of your text on the Android app's list of notes. When you open the note, however, the Android app shows you an empty note (with prompts to edit or apply a template). This problem does not exist with Evernote web app. It opens these notes fine. The workaround: Use NixNote's editor to set a specific font. It appears that the way NixNote handles notes that only include a default font is fine for Evernote for Web but not for Evernote for Android. If you select your text and set it to any other font (or set it to any other font then set it back to the default font), the Android app can deal with it. This appears only to be an issue with notes created first in NixNote. How to: Create a note in NixNote Select all the text. Change the of the selected text to any other font.(Optionally, change it back). Sync the note and it will appear well in the Android App. Alternatively, you can create and sync a note in NixNote, open it in Evernote for Web (maybe the desktop apps, too?) and make a small change (add a space at the end, for instance). When Evernote for Web then saves your changes (pretty much instantly), your note will be visible in the Android app. Use this method if you have multiple fonts set in the note you've as the above 'how to' would set them all to be the same.
  19. Using a galaxy s8 plus with the samsung keyboard for reference, I encountered two bugs: 1. Text shortcuts don't work in evernote (they work in every other app) 2. If you have text on a line, and place the cursor at the start of that line and start typing numbers, it starts to insert additional duplicate numbers into the text. This only happens at the start of a new line, with text directly after your cursor (no spaces). This bug is related to smart typing, and I've gone through testing all of smart typing options. It only happens with predictive text turned on. Auto replace, auto spell check, auto capitalize, auto spacing, and auto punctuate all have no effect on this bug, so it's specific to showing predicted text based on what you've entered and not something that the keyboard is trying to modify. Since predictive text is a feature I use extensively, simply turning it off is not an option. Considering no other app has this problem, I shouldn't have to either.
  20. I'm a new users and can't see how to move a photo from my Android (specifically via Google Photos) to a specific Note. If I select a photo to share on my Android (Pixel 2) it gives me the option to send to Evernote, but then it appears as a new note in Evernote. I want to send the photo to a specific note. Is this possible?
  21. hi so i've been using Evernote for like a year or 2 now had almost no problem with it til some time ago a noticed the API for signing in via google account is gone..along with re-login request ... dealt with those and moved along now, yesterday i had to reset my tablet .. so after resetting .. the first thing i do always i update my Googe play store , since the stoke version shows me most applicarions are not compatible.. so while it updates i queue up sevral apps so it starts after all done.. Evernote was queued seccessfully ... after update done..i noticed no app was queued.. so while i was queuing apps .. i found Evernote install button not there..i open the app page ..i listed as incompatible with my device and wont allow me to install it how was compatible a moment ago (if we ignored the 2 years im using it) and after updating the store is grayed out??? my tablet is running kitkat 4.2.2
  22. Example: under "All Notes," it says Add photos You can add photos to your notes from your Gallery. Then "Try It." No matter if I click "Try it" or click the "X" button, it eventually comes back or other tips do
  23. I now have a format bar on Evernote on my Android phone. Don't know if it is new or if I enabled it somehow but it is taking up way too much territory on my screen. I researched how to hide it and found a reference to clicking View in the Evernote menu bar which would permit customization of the tool bars but I can't find an option for "view" anywhere - either on my Android phone or my Windows professional 7 laptop. Can anyone give me some more direction on how to find this or otherwise get the format bar off my screen? Thanks!! Susan
  24. Never had the problem before on my phone with the free version -- a note became corrupted (giberish characters instead of note). I went and logged in on the desktop PC version and saw the note partly readable and changed the title -- however it was very old data (missing all of my new notes). It then showed up on my android as conflicted note copy -- so now I have the corrupted version and the new conflicted version that is actually a note from months ago :-/. It won't let me see the history because it's the free version. Obviously a bug of some sort caused this, but I can't find any way to get to the correct info and no support help to recover it? Any helps? If free version is not reliable, is my only recourse to post a negative rating on the app store? Thanks for any thoughts.
  25. Have the ability to decide the order by which images are added to a note when adding multiple images. E.g. Sort alphabetically Sort by creation date of the images Ideally have the feature whenever inserting but I understand it may be difficult when using the native send to features of a mobile device. So an alternative would be to have a default setting.
