  1. I would like an option to turn off the Evernote camera's shutter sound. There's a few workarounds right now, here's why I prefer an actual feature: Silence the phone: This is my current workaround and it's relatively easy to do. The problem is there is never a situation when I need or want to hear the shutter sound on my camera when using Evernote. Switching back and forth throughout the day is a nuisance, and Evernote goes to great pains to make its user experience fantastic. There's no need for something this small to get in the way of that. Force Evernote to use the phone's stock camera app or another camera app: I cannot find this setting, and even if I could, I wouldn't use it. I really like Evernote's camera. Turn off the stock camera's shutter setting: It's already off, so this is not a solution for me. I use the Galaxy S3 with Evernote, and I've seen users on the Note 2 with this issue as well. So, if an official setting to turn off the Evernote camera's sound could be implemented, that would be much appreciated.
  2. Is there any way to remove the list of recent notebooks when tapping on the Notebooks icon? It just takes up space and I never use it.
  3. Hi guys, Had a couple of negative experiences recently with the Evernote Android app (v7.9.1 on Android 6.0) - basically some of the edits I have made to my notes are not being saved. Nothing too serious, but it is making me reconsider whether I should keep using Evernote or not. Is there some way of making sure the notes have been synced up? I did notice this for the first time yesterday, spent a couple of hours editing another note today, hitting save every 5-10 minutes. Hit the tick to close the notebook and literally none of the edits had been saved. Is there something I'm missing? M
  4. Hi my suggestion is a simple debt tracking feature where you can to capture "total debt, payment in and out" with total. Similar to StellarWave - Debt Tracker. Like a one app for all idea. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stellar.debtsfree Regards Deon
  5. I'm reporting this post to Evernote myself to make sure they're OK with me sharing the information, and I'll tell you up front that I haven't made this work yet; but I figure that if anyone is interested (and the post is still here in a couple of days) a problem shared is a problem that may get sorted quicker. First, the good news. It seems that it may be possible to increase the amount of internal storage available to unrooted Androids running 6.0+. It's NOT working for me yet, but here's the deal - I saw a reference in a Linux group to a snazzy app called SSHelper being able to access SD cards like internal memory. It depends on your Android version and the device manufacturer, and requires some mid-to higher-level tech skills - possibly ones better than mine, because I didn't achieve this yet! 😕 WARNING If you're not very sure what you are doing with this - beware: the author makes the point very strongly that mistakes can result in your device becoming bricked: an unresponsive doorstop useful only in windy weather. If you decide to read on, it is at your Own Risk. (-And there's a LOT here!!) The alleged method requires SSHelper to be installed and active on your device, which should also be in Developer Mode and USB-linked to a (Windows or Linux) computer with some "Android Debug Bridge" software installed. I also installed WinSCP and ADB software on my Windows laptop. All these apps are free, and the main author and developer here has a solid record of mainstream software development, so mistakes apart this appears to be a useful hack. As a useful side-effect I now have full wifi access to the SD card, which is nice.. Now: the catch(es) SSHelper's original page waxes lyrical about Google / Samsung's attitude to internal vs external storage, but describes a method whereby converting an SD card wholly or partially (not recommended) to dedicated internal storage, the device can be tricked persuaded to 'see' the SD card as valid storage, and winds up with - " Check the amount of available storage space on your device — it should be larger by the size of the private allocation you just made." BUT the update page includes the comment "An unsolved but serious problem in the Android ecosystem is access to external storage, which at the time of writing is somewhere between difficult and impossible (this topic is fully addressed in the main documentation section above). To me this is the single most glaring deficiency in the present Android environment." - which to me sounds like all this is not going to work... The author's instructions are not exactly detailed - he says "Open a terminal session in the directory containing the ADB executable (named "adb.exe" on Windows and "adb" on Linux)." without specifying what terminal to use. I tried starting ADB directly - no. Used WinSCP and tried to get to the ADB folder on my hard drive... nope. Then I started web searching and found https://android.gadgethacks.com/how-to/make-adb-fastboot-work-any-folder-windows-0177198/ which seems not to use a terminal session at all... At which point I decided I'd been distracted too long by shiny new toys and need to do some work. So I documented (and Evernoted) all of this to act as a reminder and reference for my holiday-soaked brain for later when I can spare more time* - and also a potential post in the Forums for all you happy and much smarter folks who might, out of the kindness of your hearts, tell me how to make this darn thing work!!! * the flashback image of a screen door blowing back and forth banging against a small inert bricked tablet has also been in my mind... Thanks (and congratulations) if you made it this far - if anyone gets this to work, please post an "idiot's guide" level instruction sheet for all us humble mortals out here! I am definitely not worthy... 😌 For: SSHelper and WinSCP (Windows & Linux) installation - see https://arachnoid.com/android/SSHelper/ - be sure to read this section: https://arachnoid.com/android/SSHelper/#x_new_version_update and check the heading "External Storage Access" on the main page Device Developer Mode - see your device user guide or do a web search ADB software - beware: the link on SSHelper's page goes to v23 of the software. It's now up to v29 which is available here (I advised SSHelper) - https://dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools-latest-windows.zip
  6. Does anyone run Evernote regularly in an e-ink device? There are very few that are true Android devices, and of the few that are, the better ones (meaning not extremely slow) tend to be rather expensive ($800 for the Boox). I am not really sure about the Nook hack, specially after my old Nook stopped working. I am currently considering the inkBOOK and other devices in its price range since it would not be not such an expensive investment, and it would be small enough to carry everywhere, but the reviews are mixed, and the issues of syncing and editing are not very clear. Any thoughts on this?
  7. Hello. I'm a premium Evernote user. One of my main uses of Evernote is to make lists of websites or articles I find useful in a single note as multi level bulleted lists and linking them to their URL so it's easily clickable. This is very easy to do in the Desktop and Web app using the Ctrl+K shortcut or the Add Link button. But the Android app doesn't have an option to add hyperlink to a word or a sentence. This is a very basic function and should have been easy to implement even on Android. I'm posting this forum post from my phone and even this text box has a link option but the Evernote app doesn't! I would request the Android developer team to consider it. A simple button beside the Bold, Italic buttons at the bottom to add a hyperlink would be very useful. Thanks.
  8. I use, exclusively, the Checkbox format for all my notes. We need to be able to sort contents of these notes -- should be options to do this: 1) alphabetical by items in the list 2) By Unchecked Vs Checked (and alphabetical as a secondary sort, within the unchecked/checked caterogries) 3) by date modified All sort criteria should have the option for direction of sort, for both secondary and primary sorts. (By "direction" I mean like A-Z or Z-A) In case you can only implement this in parts, please do the following as highest priority -- Sort Unchecked before Checked. PLEASE. But we really need alphabetical within that also. Thank you. Please understand that this is IMPORTANT for MANY users. We have been troubled and annoyed by this deficiency for many years. Frankly, it's surprising that a product as good as Evernote should be lacking in functionality for something so basic. I tried to post this issue on one of the Evernote Forums some years ago, but was dismayed to see rude responses to this very suggestion from other users. So, I have refrained from posting anything to the forums. Your forums should be monitored by people who treat all users with respect and dignity. Hopefully, someone will finally take this seriously. Thank you.
  9. I've been trying to install Evernote app for hours now from multiple app stores like Google Play, TutuApp. but whenever I am installing it shows "Error downloading 'Evernote'. There is insufficient space on the device. I have 16 GB space left in my device I am not sure what type of space does an app requires to install. Can anyone help me to fix this error?
  10. Check out the video recently announced in the forums and posted here: A number of highly requested features are in the process of being implemented--not ready for release yet, as I understand it, but approaching beta. They include to-do lists with strikethrough, styles, text colors, highlight colors--a lot of the things that are already present in the beta Web editor. Plus better tag management and cross-platform consistency.
  11. Hi, y'all! I've been having issues with some of my bigger notes (it's hard to know how many words/pages we're talking about, but it's a fair amount). I can still read them fine, but when I try to edit them the app grinds to a halt, then tells me it's having problems and that I need to restart the app. I can only imagine that this could be because of low memory- I have a very new Android phone, and there's 38% storage space remaining. What worries me is that, when I upgraded my account to the $35-a-year deal, nothing changed at all. I was of course hoping that my app would run more smoothly after paying for more storage space. Has anybody else had this problem? I've synced my files recently as well, but that didn't seem to help either. Thank you!! : )
  12. Hi, not sure if anyone can help. I use OpenOffice and save my documents into Evernote from my Windows laptop. When I try and open the documents in my Android tablet Evernote opens them using OfficeSuite7. I want to tell Evernote to use AndrOPen Office instead. Does anyone know how I do that?
  13. Hello, I recently upgraded from a Google Pixel to the Samsung Note 8. On the pixel I had no problem unlocking Evernote with my fingerprint. On the Note everytime I try I get a message on the lock screen that says "Fingerprint not available at the moment" and I have to type my pin. Does anyone else have this issue? Does anyone know what might be the cause. I can unlock my device, Samsung Pay, and "LastPass" with my fingerprint. Thanks for the help. Michael
  14. I like to use tables to align my data, which works great with a keyboard. How do I insert a row or column using my android phone or tablet?
  15. With my new Nexus 6P android phone it seems impossible to add a checklist to a note. The instructions say to swipe up from the bar above the keyboard, but this does not bring up the formatting bar. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a new bug now that Evernote has gone to the aggressive upgrade mode?
  16. Please add note creation date time change possibility in android (first of all) and web clients. thx in advance!
  17. Hi All, I know this has been asked before, but is their any way to display a single note on the home screen. Examples of when this would be useful - Task list, Shopping list. Their is an app that offers this feature - http://stickytext.android.informer.com/ but it just crashes on my phone. Thanks David
  18. Would be great to be able to merge notes within the app. I merge notes all the time on desktop, which is good for consolidating related content. Would love to be able to do this on mobile.
  19. Hi - I have captured several notes with images (photos) and one note in particular shows only the last 3 images. All the others just show an image placeholder/icon. How do I recover these pictures? Any help on recovering these pictures would be appreciated. Thanks
  20. Hi i wonder anyone have the same issue like me. I am using samsung tab 10.1 spen. currently i am fan of evernote and i using it everyday to take note. But my experience with handwriting on evernote is too terrible. the speed of ink is too slow, it not appear right after my stylus but delay for a while. But on other app like onenote or squid are not. This is my video when writing: Evernote writing on samsung spen Hopefully evernote team will optimize it more.
  21. Hi, I came up with a simple solution for creating encrypted notes on Android (since the mobile app does not offer this functionality yet). Simply create a note with just a couple characters encrypted in the Evernote desktop version. Copy it a 100 times or so and put all those notes in a dedicated template notebook. Then create a shortcut to that Notebook. When you now want to create an encrypted note in Android, simply find the shortcut to the notebook and open one of the template notes. Then decrypt by entering the password. Now you can edit this note in Android and save it to whatever notebook you want to. Sure, every so often the template folder needs to be stocked up with new templates but it's a temporary solution that works for me. Hope this helps somebody. Cheers
  22. I have just confirmed a successful referral to one of my friends. He had created his own Evernote account and already installed the app in his own android tablet. I am sure that I have already satisfied the criteria as how a successful referral is confirmed. After this, I check on my points and I still had zero, which is I know, should have gotten up to 10 points because of my successful referral. What happened to my supposedly earned points? Am I still missing anything?
  23. After a recent malware scare, the document scanning app CamScanner has been pulled from the Play store. If you have a version installed on your Android device, you might want to uninstall it at least temporarily and look into this a bit further. Other versions of the app are - apparently- safe. See this external post for more details - https://www.androidpolice.com/2019/08/28/camscanner-play-store-malware/
  24. Among the features of Evernote opinions on improving the "Sort notes. As my case to store a variety of information in Evernote, "Note 1" and "Note 2 'will have a totally different uses. I want to use as the "Notes 1 '' Creation Date ',' Note 2 '' title sequence, in some cases, are not supported by Evernote features now. I want to be each 'note sorting criteria "Every notebook. If this function is added, I think many users would be much more useful to Evernote. This sentence by using the Google Translator
  25. I don't use the business card function in Evernote but I DO use the Android camera scanning widget a lot. I find it frustrating when scanning a business card (or something that kind of looks like it might be a business card) and I am prompted to select what kind of document I want to save it as because the app thinks it's a business card. I don't use the business card function so I'd really like to just bypass this prompt altogether. In my mind, if I have the app set to document then it's a document (automatic mode). If I have it set to "mountain" then it's a plain photo (manual mode). I've already told it what the type is. There are far too many clicks and taps as it is to get a note saved. Did I mention that I don't use the business card function in Evernote? Here's a thought, make business card one of the settings in the upper right corner of the app. Instead of "automatic mode" and "manual mode" there can be 3 and you call them "Doc", "Bus" and "Mountain". Then, if you are scanning a business card you can tell it so even before taking the pic. Then it won't have to prompt us about saving it as a business card.
