  2. Is there a way to specify which way is up when you take a picture? Sometimes the picture is rotated and sometimes not. I cannot find a pattern. Thanks.
  3. While the cloud is great when I'm in the city is there an easy way to save notes offline on my android phone?
  4. What happened to editing notes on the droid ? Or am I just dreaming that previously you could edit, even though there seemed to be a bunch of issues with it? Thanks.
  5. For those in the treads discussing the inconsistencies in EN between the DT app and the Android app, I bit the bullet, uninstalled EN on the droid, deleted the evernote directory on the SD, installed EN and voila !! the out of sync notes on the droid were now correct and matched the content on the DT based on several notes that I tracked. I wish that Dave had suggested this in addition to just re-installing EN. I used Astro but I'm sure other file mgr would work as well. I'd like to be re-assured that droid notes can't get out of sync because there is a regular check code tested on every display. 6. Hello, I recently discovered one big feature that is missing. I am speaking of the ability to simply copy text or images from notes. I know that notes created by the desktop client etc can atm not be edited but i really miss copy & paste...
  7. Hi, Like many on the forum, I am a pro user that is sorta unhappy with the state of the Android client. This is not in comparison with other EN versions, I just think this version could be better. Now I understand EN is closed source and for the most part that means the users are at the mercy of the developers to get added functionality to the respective versions of EN, but because of how much I want to use EN, and want to make it a bigger part of my online organization, I want to do everything I can to make this work for me. So I ask this: Is there anything at all that we, the users, can do to help the developers? I am talking about anything ranging from speeding up development releases with private beta tests with required reporting to narrowing down bug possibilities. I know you all have had much more time developing top notch apps in the Apple realm, but Android has always been about openness, and I feel like if there is anything I can do to help, besides becoming a pro member, I would be willing to try. Thanks, Rich
  8. So today I sucked it up and bought a premium membership as I needed to upload some Word documents. I am already regretting the decision. And before anyone asks I am running the client found at http://s.evernote.com/androidbeta Below are my major concerns / issues: Documents to Go opens docx, xlsx etc, since this is my default word / excel application, why does Evernote for Android display the doc with as gibberish with a no application can open this error. It is a royal pain to have to resave all my docs in 2003 format. My other option is to cut / Paste all data into general notes, and then I really have no need for the premium client in the first place. Uploading documents via the Windows client I cannot open files from within the Android client. I get a "document is a directory" error. It opens fine on an iPhone app. If I use the Web application all 2003 files open correctly (2007 is still a no go), but then what's the point of having a native desktop client if I cannot fully use it? Why are there no notebooks in the android client? The whole premise of Evernote is notebooks, so it seems to me that this is something which is core to the application and yet it is not implemented. I'd like to get an opening screen much more similar to the desktop clients. I usually do not want to add notes, but review them. It seems illogical to have to use the menu button when the layout should be much more like the desktop client. Now that Android phones are outselling iPhone in the US, I hope some effort is being put into the Android client as it needs lots of work. All I want is to be able to use the program and open documents. I am disappointed that the only way I could test Word and Excel documents wass to purchase a premium membership only to see that I cannot use this as I would hope.
  9. On my Moto Droid (Verizon) anytime I click the "Select Tag" function on the note editor screen, EN locks up and I have to force close. I've tried everything I could think of and it keeps happening. Running the current version of EN for Android available in the market as of 28 April 2010. Any thoughts?
  10. Hi. I just started using Evernote on the Android (v 1.3 47), and I had a couple of questions. From reading messages in this forum, I'd understood that from other Android applications I could "Share to Android," but when I click on "Share" in other applications I can't see Evernote in the list of applications that I'm able to use. Is there a setting somewhere that I need to enable? Also -- is there a way to use the default Android camera application or a third-party camera application for Snapshot Notes? As far as I can tell, the built-in Evernote camera doesn't provide access to zoom, flash, and other camera functions. And, when I create notebooks on the desktop, I don't see the available notebooks on the Android phone being updated. Why not? Is there a way to force a refresh? I tried logging out of my account and logging in again, but that didn't seem to work. If it makes a difference -- I'm using a Google Nexus One. Thanks. Vikram
  11. If you are having problems viewing notes on your Android device that were created on other platforms (e.g. Evernote for Mac or Windows), then please download and install this beta test version: http://s.evernote.com/androidbeta This should fix the compatibility issue, and a few other related problems with large notes, large images, and memory usage. This is still a beta test release version, and has a few known issues that we're still working to fix for a "full" release: [*:i2t6rb2m]Editing a note on Android may insert extra blank lines [*:i2t6rb2m]If you search for a note and match words in an image, the words won't be highlighted within the image when you see the note. [*:i2t6rb2m]Note decryption doesn't work. [*:i2t6rb2m]If you "Share" to the Evernote application from another Android application, it may fail in some cases. We're working to clear up the rest of these issues as fast as possible. Thanks
  12. I can't get Evernote for Android to sync with my Mac Desktops. I can't read notes created on my Mac using Evernote for Android. Is there any fix on the horizon? Or, should I just move on?
  13. I would love some quick access widgets on the home screen for creating new notes and maybe even quick look at saved searches. Is something like that in the works?
  14. I don't know which version of android evernote I should use. There are at least 3 versions in the ether now. The one from the Market seems to be the least feature rich. The 1.4b2 version with saved search capability. And now the new improved beta. The 1.4b2 beta with the saved search capability is the one that most meets my needs (I think). I use the mobile version to look things up, and manage my GTD protocol. Does the new beta maintain that capability, or if I moved to that version would the app revert to the search capabilities of the Market version? I wish the notes could be stored on the device, and now with Froyo (on some devices) local storage is a possibility. This development highlights the problems with using an android device. I imagine supporting an application on the fragmented android code base is going to be like supporting the various versions on the Blackberry. Although I left the iphone because of the politburo mentality of Apple and Jobs, there are benefits to developers of having a monolithic platform. I think a comparison chart of features, functions and capabilities of each android version, including platforms supported would make our lives easier. Thanks and good luck.
  15. When mailing....pasting...or sharing items to EvN any hyperlinks remain disabled. Notes worthless. Checking Springpad.
  16. Look, I understand that the prefix bug has given you more problems than you were hoping. (see here: http://forum.evernote.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=16595 here: http://forum.evernote.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=16140 and here: http://forum.evernote.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=16518) However, it is absolutely killing you that you are still pumping this software on the android market, even though anyone who downloads it is going to give it a terrible rating (because it doesn't work). You have known about this bug for over a month, and it renders the app completely useless. It's time to either release a bug fix or remove the app from the market. Your rating has dropped an entire star since I downloaded the software (from 4.5 to 3.5 and plummeting). With the number of ratings you have, it will be very difficult to bring that back up. I'm honestly just trying to help -- it's very apparent that this is not a high priority (over a MONTH??) so please stop pretending it's going to be alright, while hemorrhaging Android customers and burning through what little good-will your long-time or (gasp) paying Android customers' still have.
  17. I had some audio note on my android G1. After uploading, the audio file will be truncated to 1mb. Does evernote limit the file size or is it my phone's problem? Thanks.
  18. Hello, need some help. On a Palm Pre with Windows Mobile and the Droid application as well, I can't open an MSExcel file I have uploaded as a note to Evernote via my desktop. I can update and make changes to the file on my desktop at work and home, but not on either of my cell phones. Is there a fix? Am I missing something? Thanks!
  19. I was out for a walk today, "brainstorming" a project. Each time I had an idea I made a recording and uploaded it to Evernote. But there are two problems that make this difficult to do. 1: The screen on most of these Androids is pretty bad outdoors; really bad contrast. But to make the problem worse, whoever designed the Record screen obviously thought to himself, "let's see if we can make this screen completely invisible outdoors" ... the contrast is really dreadful. Light gray buttons on a light gray background?! Are you kidding! Oh, and is that as small as you can get the time display? Surely you could make the text totally illegible, couldn't you? 2: In order to upload a recording I need to press Stop - Menu - Save - scroll down to the to get to the Save button - Save. How about putting a Save button right there on the Record screen. Better still, give us a Stop button, and a Stop and Save button? 3: One more thing; how about a Pause button? Why can't I stop and restart a recording? Peter
  20. There's some sort of third party Evernote android apps on the app store. They come up if you search for Evernote I tried one briefly, it lets you go through specific notebooks via a note list. I didn't see a way to search, though. I guess the developer is Japanese, this is the web site linked to from the app store: http://divnil.com/final/ This sort of thing makes me a bit nervous about the android marketplace in general. How do you know the app isn't sending the developer your account name and password?
  21. Is there a place to enable this. Using nexus one. MUST have live hyperlinks. Thanks
  22. I am using the beta version of the app on my Motorola Droid and I often will use the Evernote to capture data while it's available...for instance, specs or instructions on the back of a box at the store so that i can further research or or refer to when I have free time or access to a full browser and internet connection. The problem I keep running into is that if what I am capturing is a picture and I don't have a strong 3G or wifi signal, the upload can be pretty slow and if I need the info in the meantime, it appears in the drop-down "find as you type" results and the "Pending Notes" list but you can't open it, and then it seems to disappear for a little while and not show up at all (waiting to be indexed?) and your out of luck. Since I assume the file isn't actually uploaded and erased byte by byte, it would be nice if the note was still viewable in the interim. Furthermore, it might be useful to have an option in the online account to send a notification to your phone when the note is ready.
  23. I just installed Evernote for Android 1.3.1 (80774) on my Droid, which is running Android 2.1-update1. When I log into the app, I click notes and find the 'Welcome to Evernote' note. When I click on this note, I get the following error: "java.lang.IllegalStateException: can't declare any more prefixes in this context" Also, I was referred to using your program by a friend, and this friend shared 2 docs with me. I can view these via the browser, but I cannot view them on my phone. I have tried checking "Use Network" in the settings, and alternatively I have tried using a wifi connection, but still the shared notes do not appear. Someone suggested in another post to uninstall, reboot the phone, and reinstall the app while connected to wifi. I tried this but it is unchanged. I would appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks in advance.
  24. As I understand the capabilities of Evernote, the latitude and longitude are captured when you make a note with a picture, text, or audio on a device that has gps capabilities. I have been told by friends with i phones that this feature works with the i phone, specifically i phone pictures. I have not been able to capture the gps info with Evernote on my Android. I have the Motorola Droid and it has gps skills. I know it works because I can see it with Google Maps. What do I need to do to capture the gps info with Evernote on my Android? Or is that feature not operational on the Evernote on the Android? Thank you, John Brown
