  1. I may have missed how to do this, but I would like to have my pictures in a note as thumbnails, so they don't take up the whole note. Is there way to use thumbnails for pictures? If not, I would like to request this as a new feature. Thanks. Rob.
  2. Hi there, I've started checking out your BETA for fun and have come across a couple things worth mentioning. First, I attempted to open a note and for whatever reason it failed to download over 3g, leaving me with a "empty" note, that only carries the meta-data. Now every subsequent time I open the note it is still empty, because I presume the app believes the note to be cached. Seccond, notes that are rich in formatting don't wrap at all when their zoomed to any level larger than the original formatting. For example, I've clipped a portion of a web page and that page looks accurate at the full "zoomed out" but when I zoom in (double tap to zoom doesn't seem to be functioning) the text overlaps and gets garbled. I have to say that the app looks fantastic though! Great job guys, I'll try to be pretty regular posting issues. Thanks, Adam
  3. I searched and couldn't find anything that I understood anyway about this. If I use Evernote to write something and then email it to somebody that doesn't use Evernote will they be able to open/read the article in word.doc or .docx? I'm using evernote on my EVO and web, the desktop app didn't work out to well for me. I'm looking for a Documents to Go replacement, "word" more than any thing else that DTG offer's. I also use Google docs a lot and Word on my PC. Google Docs more for storage. Thanks.
  4. I use Evernote for song ideas. I like the app -its definitely the best audio recorder at this time however where is the PAUSE button? Right now I have to send a bunch of snippets of the same song idea -it really crimps my flow -whats up EVERNOTE ?!?
  5. A couple of the notes that I've created on 2.0 refuses to upload to the Evernote cloud. They're fairly basic notes with some text and photo attached but they just refuse to show up on the mac client and the web-app. What I notice is that these notes won't get a preview image attached to them (I suspect that you might generate those in the cloud). The notes work well on the device though (A testament to the robust offline capabilities in 2.0 perhaps?). I've tried to capture some logs of it but I couldn't find the relevant lines.
  6. I just installed v2 beta version. First impressions are great, finally a "full" mobile Evernote. Here are first issues are noticed: 1. It would be great if nested tags are supported in tag browse mode. At least child tags should follow parent tag when tags are sorted by title 2. top icons (new note, view, search) could be more finger-friendly, i.e. bigger 3. picking a multi-word tag when searching returns no results. I think it is the same issue v1.5 had and which was addressed by v1.5.1 4. a few of my tags do not show in tags list. Could not see any logic, i.e. tags named scripts, volatility etc. However, search tag:volatility etc. works fine 5. 9 out of 950 notes did not sync. I found 7 of them, could not see any reason why they did not sync because many similar notes synced just fine. I can send you these notes if it can help. Thanks
  7. While adding a tag to a note (in this case the note was previously created on my device), the tagging option doesn't stick if you just choose to tag the note. To make it stick, I have to first choose to edit the note, add the tag(s) then save the note. However... when done this way, a completely new (duplicate) note is saved. The duplicate note now having the tags applied. I'd like to be able to simply add/edit tags to existing notes.
  8. I have an APAD, a tablet with Android 2.2 installed. It has no phone connection, but wifi. How can I install Evernote, because Android market is not allowing access. Like to hear from you. Chi
  9. I have a Samsung Galaxy (Vibrant) unlocked running Android 2.1. When I try to open an office document (.doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx), I get a page of codes and an error message "Sorry, there is no application installed that supports this file type". I have installed several apps (Thinkfree Office, Office Suite, Documents To Go) that purport to open Office documents. The error continues. Help!
  10. We appreciate your help in testing our upcoming version for Evernote 2.0 for Android. Our goal is to find and address as many issues as possible during the beta period. This is BETA software. By installing this application you are acknowledging the potential for data loss and/or corruption of your notes. Only individuals that understand the inherent risks associated with Beta software should install the Evernote 2 Beta. For these reasons, we request that users refrain from promoting the Beta outside of the Evernote Forum prior to its official release. What's new in Evernote 2 Beta The Evernote 2 Beta is an almost total rewrite of Evernote for Android, here's an overview: Great new user interface You'll immediately notice our new, more intuitive home screen, which allows you to make notes, gives you a great snapshot of the things you have in your account and shows synchronization status. Easier sorting and browsing We made browsing notes, tags and notebooks much easier. You can group your notes by notebook, location, or month and use the scroller to switch between sections. Note sorting happens lickity-split and even works offline. You can also press and hold on any of the notes in a note list to quickly access options like edit, delete, note info, email or tagging. You'll noticed that we've changed the interface, adding a convenient header bar to make it easy to switch among searches, notes, tags, and notebooks. Dramatically faster Evernote 2 Beta dramatically improves browsing, viewing and searching through notes by downloading all data about your notes, such as tags, notebook names, saved searches, note titles, and thumbnails when you first launch the app. It will also do this periodically in the background to make sure you're always up-to-date (only available on Android). In addition, whenever a note is viewed or created on the device, it will be stored offline for easy access even when there is no network connectivity. This feature is available for both free and premium users. The initial sync may take some time, so we recommend connecting your phone to a power source and turning on WIFI. Offline notebooks for Premium users Premium users get even more. If you have an Evernote Premium account, then you will be able to specify the notebooks that you want to be saved for offline viewing. Evernote will then download all the notes contained in those notebooks, including any attached images and files, and saves them all onto your device's SD card. Simpler note creation and multiple attachments Creating new notes is now much more powerful, allowing you to attach as many images, PDFs or audio files as you'd like. In the new note and note editing screens, use the buttons in the header to add a picture, assign tags, switch notebooks, or pull in data from other application or your local files. We still have the quick snapshot note. Sharing from other apps You can capture information in other apps on your Android and send them to Evernote using the sharing option. We'll grab the info and turn it into a note. When viewing a note, you'll see a little tab at the bottom of the screen. Flip this open and you can see all the notes in your current search. Scroll back and forth through the thumbnails to quickly switch between the notes. Also, you can tap the note title to see more note details. Work in progress There's a few things we haven't finished yet or aren't working perfectly. We're still working out the kinks with sync, it's a little early to rely on it offline for critical information. The initial sync takes a while. [*:3acidw69]Highlighting search results isn't fully implemented [*:3acidw69]Editing notes is still in the early stage of implementation [*:3acidw69]Play back and recording of audio now requires a 3rd party application [*:3acidw69]Note tag dialog does not yet auto-complete tag names [*:3acidw69]Upgrading from 1.5 to 2.0 Beta a little rough so you may need to uninstall Evernote 1.5 before installing 2.0 Beta [*:3acidw69]We still have some polish to add to the UI Download the latest version at: http://s.evernote.com/android2preview NOTE: This version will not auto-update. Please check back weekly for updates. Submit bugs at: http://s.evernote.com/android2bug If you encounter problems often the most useful diagnostic information is the current log file. The Android application "SendLog" is an easy way to get the current logs off the device.
  11. Where can I find"Noddy uses evernote"?I can't get past the home screen
  12. My phone is a T-mobile My Touch. I have been using the camera for several days with no problem but for the last two days I keep getting an error message of: The application Evernote (process com.evernote) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. I have to force close the app and it just does the same thing over and over. I have rebooted several times but it does not help and there is plenty of room on my sd card. Thanks in advance for any help. Bill
13. Hi All, Hope this kind of post isn't out of line. I've recently switched to using an Android phone, and so the Android version of Evernote. Its pretty similiar to (if not functionally exactly the same as) the WinMo version. However, with my new phone I find myself using Evernote more and more (especially since I recently also went premium on Evernote; its a fantastic tool). And the more I use it, the more some features scream out for updates, and others are obvious by their absence. 1. Offline Storage of Notes. Alot of people have already mentioned it, and there are countless threads about it already so.. (See http://forum.evernote.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=13804 2. Notebooks. In the absence of offline storage, I had hoped the Android version of Evernote would at least display a list of notebooks before displaying notes so at least I can quickly find what I'm looking for. I can understand the logic of displaying the most recent notes; but I find I don't always need to reference my most recent notes and the current system is a nightmare unless I'm near my laptop. 3. Sharing. Android has some pretty amazing sharing capabilities built in. Evernote seems to work with some but not all of the sharing options; and it would be nice it if did (Mainly seem to missing Share To options) 4. Location based notes. This is a very cool feature, but is annoying to use. Perhaps its just my handset (HTC Desire), but it often takes 10 seconds or more for Evernote to find my location and attach it to a note; its not much of delay but its enough to throw off conversations or make taking quick notes difficult. 5. Viewing Encrypted Notes. Its very annoying not being able to view the contents of encrypted sections within Notes. In addition, I'm never clear if editing "encrypted" notes deletes the original content with my changes, or if the encrypted section is kept. 6. Checkboxes note appearing. Its also annoying that we can't manage todo lists on android. It makes it pointless trying to use this feature if you rely upon Evernote mobile for any reason. Cheers All
  14. Hi, Is there a way to synchronise your available tags between desktop and android clients? i.e. Add a new tag in desktop and it automatically becomes a selectable tag on android. If not, I think this would be a cool feature. Cheers, Ben
  15. So are you - or aren't you? http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/30/stud ... tificatio/
  16. Hi there, on my x10 mini pro: fortunately, I did not have problems downloading the evernote app from androidmarket. As I read on these forums other people seem to have had this problem. My problem is: after I downloaded the file, that was all. The installation process wasn't started automatically. I read you would have to download an app to have apps install automatically once downloaded? That kinda confuses me, because wouldn't I have the same problem with that download as with all the others, i.e. how to start the installation? So, I am not an Android Nerd, nor especially tech savvy with mobile networking. - Which App would make my x10 mini pro install downloaded apps automatically? - How would I install that app? - As I already downloaded the evernote app. How would I make this download start its installation process? thanks for reading Mu
  17. Hello, I have a HTC Desire with Froyo and recently i installed ENShortcuts. And I think that the EN developers should really take a close look at things ENShortcuts does better: - Better caching of Notes list In the native EN list it really takes a bunch of time when loading the all notes list. In ENShortcuts the list is cached and notes can be selected while the list checks for updates in the background - Better viewer for notes when on slow network: The native EN app first loads the whole note. If the note contains text and a big pdf, EN first loads text AND pdf before displaying ENShortcuts loads the text, displays it and loads the pdf in the background. Why cant we have these features in the native app? Maybe you guys should team up with this developer... Besides the features above i think it would be great to integrate the shortcut option into evernote, just like ENShortcuts does. I dont want to complain too much but we android users suffer under a really big lack of updates, improvements etc. I know u guys are working on it so take this as a good advise from a Evernote lover! If u want to get ENShortcuts: Market:market://search?q=pname:jp.g1985karaoke.enShortcut
  18. Is there a way to simply copy the database from computer to sd-card, and make Evernote sync with that? So I have everything available offline? best regards Mads
  19. I have two different pdf readers installed on my phone, and neither one can open a multi-page pdf from Evernote (single page ones open fine). I tested one of the exact same pdf files with my dropbox app, and it opened fine on the phone that way. Is this a problem with Evernote for Android, or just my phone?
  20. When I email a note from the Android app, there is an option to pull up my address book. However, when I do that, all I see are numbers instead of names. It is like the app is showing a contact ID instead of a contact name. Anyone else seeing this?
  21. Is there a way to download a PDF file from a note via the Android app? When I find a note that contains a PDF and click on it, the stock PDF viewer displays the file. But it does not have a "save as" option, so I can't save the file to my SD card. I was hoping in the Android app I could long press on the PDF icon and have an option to download the file, but no dice. My only work around is to select email from the note and email it to myself so I can then save the attachment.
  22. I just started using Evernote on my Android phone on Friday. I don't keep my phone constantly connected to the internet. When I checked the resource usage on my phone yesterday afternoon, Evernote had been using 50% of the CPU for about 9 hours straight (lucky for me it was charging at the time). I force closed the app, but even today Evernote is still listed as the top app in my usage list for the past week even though it's only been installed for 2 days. Is this normal? K.
  23. Evernote is probably great at gathering data with your phone while on the go. I just don't use it that way very often. Mostly I enter data from my desktop and reference it from my phone. Given that a number of the requests on the forum revolve around viewing or modifying notes, I don't think I'm alone in this behavior. Could we please have the button to access notes on the start-up screen. There's room, and there seems to be a serious bias toward info collection.
  24. I took a picture with an 8 megapixel camera of a business card and viewed it in Evernote. The software doesn't really zoom out as much as one would like for this purpose. You have to scroll a great deal to read the text of the card at maximum zoom out. 8 Megapixel smart phone cameras are getting more and more common, so you might want to consider tweaking this.
  25. When I try to use the Select Tags option to add tags to my new notes, Evernote locks up and I have to force close the app. I deleted a bunch of old tags yesterday, but would that cause this issue? Thanks!
