  1. So, I hate using smartphones to replace computers. I've been using computers since '84, & nothing about a smartphone is easy for me not to mention it's a very lame chopped down version of the real thing & I'm not just talking about Evernote. So I've been unable to copy one link out of let's say 4 links in a note so I can paste it to someone in a text or WhatsApp, etc. Also, whenever I want to open that link in a browser, clicking on it, or even holding it down doesn't do it. What am I doing wrong? Thanks
  2. Hi folks, We are now slowly rolling out Evernote for Android 8.12 to our users. If you haven't seen the update in the Google Play Store yet, you will see it coming in the next few days. Fixed: The Create Notebook dialog and keyboard no longer disappear when you rotate your device while using dark theme. When you try to change settings from the 4x2 widget, the passcode lock screen no longer appears twice. Enjoy and please let us know if you have feedback.
  3. The note style formatting bar is gone and I cannot get it back. I'm using Evernote 8.13.2 on an Android 8.0.0 system that I've been using Evernote on for *YEARS*. How do I get it back? Focus is on the note content, text, not the title.
  4. Just like on the iPhone with Touch ID, the ability to unlock the app with fingerprint on Android. Since many Android handsets are coming with fingerprint scanner (I have a Nexus 5X), this would be very convenient.
  5. I'm on Basic. When I launch Evernote, it opens to the All Notes page. I'd like to open to Notebooks. Is this possible?
  6. Often when I sync Evernote on my Android phone it pops up a little message to say it failed to "send" a specific note - always the same one, a recipe note I no longer have for more than a year. The sync works fine. The message does not appear in iOS, Windows, Mac or any Web browser. Is there any way to stop it appearing? It's not a major problem but it looks daft.
  7. Hi, When I annotate a pdf document I'd Like to highlight somme sentences whit a straight line (not a freehand quite straight) It's possible on the Android app? Thanks
  8. Every time I enter a numeral in an Evernote note on my Android phone it appears to be treated as a telephone number, though when synced to my PC version it is not. I find this extremely annoying, being in at my grumpy time of life. I am sure there must be a way to solve this but so far it has alluded me. Can anyone suggest a method please? Gerry
  9. Hi, I am a user of Evernote Premium and I love the core Evernote ideology of having the best search around. However, I am very interested in using evernote for digital note taking via handwriting on a Samsung tablet with s-pen. The following are a few features that would make this functionality much more useful to me: 1. More stroke width options - The smallest stroke width is still way too big for me. I want to be able to write small. 2. Ability to set background to lined paper 3. Support for pressure sensitive input from s-pen, asus pen, etc. 4. Ability to zoom in/out and pan - Currently it just lets me add pages. I do not like writing close to the edges of the tablet because it is not comfortable when I am writing on the couch. 5. More pen colors and highlighting. Upvote if you also want one or more of these features. Thank you for making my experience the best it can be. Please let me know if any of this functionality is in the works or when I could expect to see these.
  10. Hello! Have an issue - can't open any notes via the widget on my Samsung S8 after updating Android to 8.0. Rest of widget functions (widget scrolling, new note button, etc.) are working fine. On the previous android version, everything was working properly. Help to solve this, please.
  11. Lately I've noticed that whenever I have a note displaying, my android screen will not sleep. Is this new behavior or is this something that has always happened? It only happens only on a displayed note -- it will sleep on the all notes screen. Anyone else see this behavior? I use my phone to take notes and will tend to forget about it and it burns out my battery. I'm on a Samsung Note 5 if it matters.
  12. I am a college student but also a disabled vet and I use Evernote to record my lectures for reference later. There have been many times that I have wanted to take a photo of the board or screen while recording. Sadly, if you need to access any other function on your phone or within Evernote the audio automatically cancels. This is a huge problem from me and I don't understand why it should be this way. I could be using any voice recording ap but I wanted to be able to keep all of my school related work centralized in one place and accessible from both of my computers as well as my phone. I pay for Evernote for this reason and yet such a simple thing is inaccessible.
  13. Is it possible to make the android app function more like the windows desktop app? With dex station and chrombooks coming out , I believe this will be a trend . For example , multiple windows for the notes individually. Thanks
  14. I've been using evernote for years without issues but recently I periodically receive an error when editing a note "note currently unavailable". This prevents me from editing (like adding an item to my grocery list). Defeats the purpose of keeping notes if I can't add to my list whenever I need to. I only use evernote on 2 devices and occasionally but not always a manual sync will resolve. Any suggestions? Is this anything to do with the big G getting into E's pants? : - )
  15. Hello, I am finding it difficult in using Evernote App on Android (Samsung S8) I doubt this is happening after I installed this weird app Mobdro App, so friends, stay away from this application, I don't know even big websites published about this Adware. Any solution? How can I start using my Evernote App again? Please help, I hope my data is safe. Mobdro Mobdro APK
  16. I would like an option to turn off the Evernote camera's shutter sound. There's a few workarounds right now, here's why I prefer an actual feature: Silence the phone: This is my current workaround and it's relatively easy to do. The problem is there is never a situation when I need or want to hear the shutter sound on my camera when using Evernote. Switching back and forth throughout the day is a nuisance, and Evernote goes to great pains to make its user experience fantastic. There's no need for something this small to get in the way of that. Force Evernote to use the phone's stock camera app or another camera app: I cannot find this setting, and even if I could, I wouldn't use it. I really like Evernote's camera. Turn off the stock camera's shutter setting: It's already off, so this is not a solution for me. I use the Galaxy S3 with Evernote, and I've seen users on the Note 2 with this issue as well. So, if an official setting to turn off the Evernote camera's sound could be implemented, that would be much appreciated.
  17. Is there any way to remove the list of recent notebooks when tapping on the Notebooks icon? It just takes up space and I never use it.
  18. Hi guys, Had a couple of negative experiences recently with the Evernote Android app (v7.9.1 on Android 6.0) - basically some of the edits I have made to my notes are not being saved. Nothing too serious, but it is making me reconsider whether I should keep using Evernote or not. Is there some way of making sure the notes have been synced up? I did notice this for the first time yesterday, spent a couple of hours editing another note today, hitting save every 5-10 minutes. Hit the tick to close the notebook and literally none of the edits had been saved. Is there something I'm missing? M
  19. Hi my suggestion is a simple debt tracking feature where you can to capture "total debt, payment in and out" with total. Similar to StellarWave - Debt Tracker. Like a one app for all idea. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stellar.debtsfree Regards Deon
  20. I'm reporting this post to Evernote myself to make sure they're OK with me sharing the information, and I'll tell you up front that I haven't made this work yet; but I figure that if anyone is interested (and the post is still here in a couple of days) a problem shared is a problem that may get sorted quicker. First, the good news. It seems that it may be possible to increase the amount of internal storage available to unrooted Androids running 6.0+. It's NOT working for me yet, but here's the deal - I saw a reference in a Linux group to a snazzy app called SSHelper being able to access SD cards like internal memory. It depends on your Android version and the device manufacturer, and requires some mid-to higher-level tech skills - possibly ones better than mine, because I didn't achieve this yet! 😕 WARNING If you're not very sure what you are doing with this - beware: the author makes the point very strongly that mistakes can result in your device becoming bricked: an unresponsive doorstop useful only in windy weather. If you decide to read on, it is at your Own Risk. (-And there's a LOT here!!) The alleged method requires SSHelper to be installed and active on your device, which should also be in Developer Mode and USB-linked to a (Windows or Linux) computer with some "Android Debug Bridge" software installed. I also installed WinSCP and ADB software on my Windows laptop. All these apps are free, and the main author and developer here has a solid record of mainstream software development, so mistakes apart this appears to be a useful hack. As a useful side-effect I now have full wifi access to the SD card, which is nice.. Now: the catch(es) SSHelper's original page waxes lyrical about Google / Samsung's attitude to internal vs external storage, but describes a method whereby converting an SD card wholly or partially (not recommended) to dedicated internal storage, the device can be tricked persuaded to 'see' the SD card as valid storage, and winds up with - " Check the amount of available storage space on your device — it should be larger by the size of the private allocation you just made." BUT the update page includes the comment "An unsolved but serious problem in the Android ecosystem is access to external storage, which at the time of writing is somewhere between difficult and impossible (this topic is fully addressed in the main documentation section above). To me this is the single most glaring deficiency in the present Android environment." - which to me sounds like all this is not going to work... The author's instructions are not exactly detailed - he says "Open a terminal session in the directory containing the ADB executable (named "adb.exe" on Windows and "adb" on Linux)." without specifying what terminal to use. I tried starting ADB directly - no. Used WinSCP and tried to get to the ADB folder on my hard drive... nope. Then I started web searching and found https://android.gadgethacks.com/how-to/make-adb-fastboot-work-any-folder-windows-0177198/ which seems not to use a terminal session at all... At which point I decided I'd been distracted too long by shiny new toys and need to do some work. So I documented (and Evernoted) all of this to act as a reminder and reference for my holiday-soaked brain for later when I can spare more time* - and also a potential post in the Forums for all you happy and much smarter folks who might, out of the kindness of your hearts, tell me how to make this darn thing work!!! * the flashback image of a screen door blowing back and forth banging against a small inert bricked tablet has also been in my mind... Thanks (and congratulations) if you made it this far - if anyone gets this to work, please post an "idiot's guide" level instruction sheet for all us humble mortals out here! I am definitely not worthy... 😌 For: SSHelper and WinSCP (Windows & Linux) installation - see https://arachnoid.com/android/SSHelper/ - be sure to read this section: https://arachnoid.com/android/SSHelper/#x_new_version_update and check the heading "External Storage Access" on the main page Device Developer Mode - see your device user guide or do a web search ADB software - beware: the link on SSHelper's page goes to v23 of the software. It's now up to v29 which is available here (I advised SSHelper) - https://dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools-latest-windows.zip
  21. Does anyone run Evernote regularly in an e-ink device? There are very few that are true Android devices, and of the few that are, the better ones (meaning not extremely slow) tend to be rather expensive ($800 for the Boox). I am not really sure about the Nook hack, specially after my old Nook stopped working. I am currently considering the inkBOOK and other devices in its price range since it would not be not such an expensive investment, and it would be small enough to carry everywhere, but the reviews are mixed, and the issues of syncing and editing are not very clear. Any thoughts on this?
  22. I've been trying to install Evernote app for hours now from multiple app stores like Google Play, TutuApp. but whenever I am installing it shows "Error downloading 'Evernote'. There is insufficient space on the device. I have 16 GB space left in my device I am not sure what type of space does an app requires to install. Can anyone help me to fix this error?
  23. Check out the video recently announced in the forums and posted here: A number of highly requested features are in the process of being implemented--not ready for release yet, as I understand it, but approaching beta. They include to-do lists with strikethrough, styles, text colors, highlight colors--a lot of the things that are already present in the beta Web editor. Plus better tag management and cross-platform consistency.
  24. Hi, y'all! I've been having issues with some of my bigger notes (it's hard to know how many words/pages we're talking about, but it's a fair amount). I can still read them fine, but when I try to edit them the app grinds to a halt, then tells me it's having problems and that I need to restart the app. I can only imagine that this could be because of low memory- I have a very new Android phone, and there's 38% storage space remaining. What worries me is that, when I upgraded my account to the $35-a-year deal, nothing changed at all. I was of course hoping that my app would run more smoothly after paying for more storage space. Has anybody else had this problem? I've synced my files recently as well, but that didn't seem to help either. Thank you!! : )
  25. Hi, not sure if anyone can help. I use OpenOffice and save my documents into Evernote from my Windows laptop. When I try and open the documents in my Android tablet Evernote opens them using OfficeSuite7. I want to tell Evernote to use AndrOPen Office instead. Does anyone know how I do that?
