  1. Thanks for replying, however, your response is NOT correct. As I started above, in my comments for the problem, the options (App on Android) are:- 1. "Note@location" (auto titling = ON) Or 2. "Untitled Note" (auto titling = OFF). This is NOT the same as on the desktop version whereby the first line becomes the title. That is the same result that I want on the app for the first line to be automatically copied to be the title. This would also give a consistent behaviour for both the desktop and the Android app (and should also apply to the IOS app).
  2. Hello! You can turn off the auto-titling by going to Settings>Notes and unchecking "Auto-title new notes". If you leave your note untitled, then it will pull the title from the first line of the note.
  3. Thanks for your reply. This doesn't do what I want, because every note is then called "Untitled Note". Rowan
  4. You're experiencing a new feature in Evernote 4.1.8, "predictive note titles", which draw from location and calendar information to present a default note title, rather than simply "Untitled Note" These titles immediately disappear the minute you enter your own note title when creating a new note, and help to differentiate between repeat new, untitled notes. iCalendar is likely drawing from your Google Calendars account, which we are then pulling for the default note title information.
  5. I made one minor but important change to the script-- now it changes the output setting from a .mov to "Audio Only" so a .m4a -- this way when you drag it into Evernote you can actually press play. Cheers! tell application "QuickTime Player" activate set x to new audio recording start x delay 1 set lastLength to duration of x delay 1 set newLength to duration of x try repeat while lastLength is not equal to newLength delay 1 set lastLength to newLength set newLength to duration of x end repeat end try -- display alert name of document 1 set v to file of front document set audioNotePat
  6. I'm hoping it will and it's mad this functionality isn't in evernote! Thanks for the suggestion but I'd like the title of the note in write, to be the tile. The suggested notes are not even hit or miss; it's a mess over engineered evernote, I'd just like not to see 'untitled note'!
  7. Hope. Then I am a ridiculous man who is constantly reordering paragraphs, sections, and chapters of work that I am writing. That is my use case, though, and apparently the use case of other writers and researchers. I am glad that you find my workflow amusing. Just to clarify, I don't like changing my note titles, but it is preferable to "Untitled" or some other auto-fill stuff, and titling a note for me with YYYYMMDD + keywords is a one-time thing that I am unlikely to repeat again for that note. Another field to enter data into would not be welcome. As mentioned above, try Scrivener
  8. We're reviewing putting an option in there to toggle on and off predictive note titles, and definitely understand how the new feature can cause some workflow problems, especially for those who relied on "untitled" notes. The feature is also receiving some adjustment as well. I like the idea of "Note on [date]", I could see that making more sense in many cases than location, which is the baseline information the titler draws from.A toggle on/off feature and Date/time stamp would be perfect. I created new notes his morning with names like "call mom". all notes are already date and time stamp
  9. Re Yosemite.. The design is very different, and if you want to share your view on that, there's a thread here. https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/78417-evernote-for-mac-6-design-feedback There were some bugs with 6.0, that are gradually being fixed. To express your feelings on that, use this thread. https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/78421-evernote-for-mac-6-mac-app-store-version-notes-not-loading-untitled-note-or-slowness-issues To fix the initial problems with 6.0 and the later releases, it's important to download the latest verions of Evernote from their website rather than
  10. I'm hoping they will change their customer service and feedback system for the better one day in the future. But then again, this thread isn't about customer service. It's about how may untitled notes I have and making the first line of every note the title
  11. I'm happy (I think) to have found this topic. I too am having some troubles with sharing a notebook. I am a Premium Member and my wife has the free account. I created a notebook and shared with her via the desktop client. She is accessing via the web client through Chrome on a Windows machine. Sharing permissions were setup to by inviting her with the sharing functionality in the app and to her email. Her permissions are set to "Can Edit" She was able to join the notebook and can see the existing notes. She cannot edit existing notes within the notebook. She is able to Create a Note, bu

  15. It amazes me as popular as Evernote is and how many users complain about the notes not starting in the title and how the auto-title sucks on the Android version they don't fix itl I too would like a new note to start in the title bar on ALL notes even the Android ones or at least make it an option or AT LEAST make it like the windows version so that the title becomes the first line of test. I get way too many notes that are "untitled". how useless is that?
  16. Absolutely agree. Not having the option to do this, especially on a portable device where your process needs to be as simple and streamlined as possible, and where most of your input is likely to take place, is really quite amazing for such a polished program. My windows system does it automatically, It took me a while to realize why I was getting all these untitled notes before it clicked it was because of this.
  17. I've been trying to set up two step authentication (Android) and i can get as far as Enter a Backup Code, but when I hit Complete Setup, nothing happens - the Enter Backup Code window continues to display with the Security Summary Page in the background. If i hit Complete Setup again, I get another pop-up saying "the following pages have become unresponsive" (it lists Security Summary and untitled, which I assume is the Enter Backup Code window) and it gives me the option to Wait or Kill the pages. I've waited up to 30 minutes, but still nothing. Tried several times with no luck. 1) Enabl
  18. Similar problem here. I get the error: "Failed to start up Evernote for Mac. Make sure that the selected application is installed correctly." (Even though it does open Evernote if it's closed. And still get this error even if it's already open.) But also the note seems to be sorta half imported into Evernote. I can see the thumbnail of what I scanned (even from other computers/phones), but the actual note itself is blank. It also gets the title "Untitled Note" instead of the usual timestamp of the scanning. Since I can't read the thumbnail (obviously), my scans are useless. I've tried
  19. What he said. This wasn't "broke" before. Default note titles worked perfectly well. Now they're inexplicable. I nearly just had a heart attack because I'd pasted into evernote some very complex text (lots of special characters, etc), saved the note, then did some other things on my iPhone. Then I returned to Evernote and looked for the note I'd just created — thinking the first words of the note would be the title; in fact I'd specifically placed those words at the top for that very purpose -- but it was nowhere to be found. I began to panic, switched to "all notes" (instead of the spec
  20. Shepherd, what if we just want to use the first line of our note as the title? I turned off the "suggested note titles" feature, but now I get "Untitled Note" every time. The Windows Desktop creates a title from the first line of text in my note, can the iPhone app do this as well?? iPhone 5 iOS 7.0.3 Evernote Build 7.1.1.304754
  21. When I simply use evernote to grab a photo, intending to work on it later, the same thing happens to me. Up until a release or two ago, I was getting a location -- usually the location prior to the location where I am. Now Evernote seems to be grabbing random events from the day in question. Sometimes the events appear to be from the calendar on my mobile device, which is using Google's calendar, thank you. However, the birthdays it is grabbing are coming from Facebook, from that list FB pops up of contacts with birthdays today. Where do I turn this off? I'd rather have "snapshot untitt
  22. Yeah, the editor is not really designed for productivity at all! I just had a nightmare trying to take notes during a phone call with a prospective customer. Each time I clicked on New Note and blank note would appear but when I clicked on the body to edit it would revert back to the note at the top of the list!! Did this a few times and then finally got a window I could type into - a bit later when Iooked at it I'd got 6 untitled notes lol.......really need it to be quick and easy....
  23. Yes, PLEASE provide a more efficient auto title feature...I use Evernote with my iPad, iPhone, Mac, Dropbox, etc-- shoeboxed and doc scan regularly with thousands of notes I am stuck with either renaming multiple "untitled note"s or obscure unrelated region auto naming Has this been corrected recently? Or any suggestions of something I'm missing?

  25. i hadn't thought of that, but at least with "untitled note" you have consistency. i suppose the predictive titles could mess that up.
