  1. Um, all that was is a search for posts that contain the text "untitled", it's not clear that all of them are asking for what you are. That being said, in the latest Evernote for Windows application, if I create a new note and type into it, or paste some text in to it, the new note does indeed take the first line of text as its title, where it will show up in the list view Title column. If there's a scenario where this doesn't work, you should probably specify it. I checked my note database of ~7500 notes, and found <10 that had "Untitled" as note title. Several of those actually h
  2. Thanks for a workaround (still only a workaround though..). It's not just the title text that's different, it's the title behavior. For the "Untitled" ones I can select the title (ctrl+a) and edit the word ("Untitled"). I can also delete it, but it's recreated when I exit the text field. For the "Untitled Note" ones I can't even select the title or edit it. As soon as I start typing it disappears.
  3. Can't agree more. After so many years how is this still a thing? I'm tired of seeing "Untitled note" everywhere. It's very distracting and clutters up the UI incredibly quickly. What's worse is some are named "Untitled note," while others are named just "Untitled," and I suspect that's due to them being created on different clients (e.g. the web vs Android). No consistency whatsoever. How am I supposed to keep things organized when something this basic is overlooked? Like, why should a note have a title to begin with. Why not let us not have a title? The way they do it in Google Keep

  5. It's ridiculous because Mac windows and ios do this. So some of my notes have proper titles but most are just untitled notes
  6. Grrr.. I manually entered a long note, with title on the iPad. No copy/paste - just typing. Opened Evernote Beta on Windows - shows as "Untitled note" with no content. The note on the iPad then gets the contents and title wiped out. Before it disappeared, I tried to preserve it by selecting Duplicate Note. It duplicated the empty note. Now I have to redo the note, but I won't use the beta (on the iPad nor Windows.)
  7. Thanks for the reply. On one desktop, I didn't sync, so I could see for one note that it was stored in another notebook instead of the inbox. Last modif date was Dec 2019. So after the sync on my desktop, this note got moved to the inbox. I also have a lot of empty, "untitled" notes (merged notes?). Strange all this. Now, I have set the Evernote sync as background process on my phone, so it will sync the whole time. This is definitely a sync problem with some old notes from 2019. I use Evernote for years, and syncing has always been a bit of a problem for this software.
  8. I just lost 37 minutes worth of notes. I am using Evernote on Evernote.com with their Beta Editor on my fully updated Windows 10 PC with the most current version of Google Chrome. The notes were not long, but I worked hard on them. They also had about 3 screenshots. I didn't realize losing notes was a possibility so I did not save my screenshots to my PC. I was taking notes on a video tutorial I was watching and clicking back and forth between Evernote.com and the other site on a different monitor. I was connected to the internet the whole time since I was watching a video
  9. Maybe read my comment first before leaving nonsense replies? How is some notes being called "Untitled" and others "Untitled note" with no apparent pattern whatsoever "consistent?" Look up what the word consistency means please. Consistency helps me keep things organized, but that is anything but consistency. Uh, don't tell me what to do? A note is not a novel. It's not supposed to have a title. Or maybe you could suggest a title for a note saying "deep tissue work" or "juicy realm" or any other 2-3 word note that is self-descriptive (for me, the user anyway) and would only become unnec
  10. This does not work anymore. It used to work, like so many other features, but now it doesn't. If I select multiple notes => print => Save as PDF, I get one file called untitled.pdf with one note in it. The others have never been created or overwritten, but are not there.
  11. Thanks for your response. It's great to hear that Evernote for Windows is working properly in this regard, but I can confirm that the Evernote web-based client, as well as the current version of Evernote for Mac (v7.9.1) does not do this. If you create a new Note using either client, and insert text only in the body, the title will always display as "Untitled" in list view. If you open the individual Note to edit the title on either the web and Mac clients, both will recognize the title field as blank, which is expected behavior. But if you edit the same note in the iOS client, the title
  12. BLUF: I've "lost" many notes due to attempting to save reminders (through the homescreen widget) who's titles were too long, resulting in "Untitled Notes", and I would like to recover those long titles. For a while I took to using Evernote's android "Reminder" widget as a means to record TODO items and writing my short description(/reminder of what I'll need to do) in the title of these Reminder. At some point I realised that often my titles would be too long and therefore not saved. This (neither then nor now) does not give an error of any sort, in fact the "Saving note in <notebook nam
  13. Yes, on Mac 1. The note title defaults to "Untitled" (actual text) 2. Note title always prints, no option to turn it off On Web, the note title defaults to "Untitled"; the note title doesn't print On IOS, the default title is "Note"; the headers print
  14. Wow - wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. Yesterday I went to start a note on my iOS Evernote. Got interrupted so left it as a blank untitled note. Today I log into Evernote on my Mac, see the untitled note and as I'm drinking my coffee get to work writing out my thoughts. Fast forward an hour later I'm wrapping up the note on my Mac Evernote client. I've changed it from untitled to give it a name. It only has text content. I go to look at something on my iPhone and when I look up my note window is missing (like I had closed it). Evernote is still run
  15. Oh my god, how is this still an issue in 2019? I've seen 3 or 4 threads confronting this, with the first one beginning in 2016. I'm actually a paying user of Evernote, and I am unable to export a PDF or print a document without either a title in bold or 'Untitled' appearing where I want no text at all. Until now I've regarded Evernote as a high quality text platform, but this is kinda a deal breaker? Kinda makes it actually un-usable as a text platform? I can't print a document without unwanted text there... Why? Why must I copy/paste my text into another piece of software to do this
  16. A great light dawns... 😃 (And OK sorry I should have read your initial post better!) But: I agree - paste a bunch of text into a new untitled note and only the first 80 characters get auto-sampled into the title. Vaguely odd - but that flags another question: why do you need that many words? I'd imagine Evernote assumed that the first line of a note would be some sort of heading - typically not as long as 250 words - and therefore only copied that length. Unless there are a lot of people out there looking for longer autotitles, you're in a pretty small group here, and not on
  17. Bug. For synced notebooks, when you close the new window after creating a new note there is an Untitled Note in addition to the new note in the note list. As far as I can tell that entry disappears after a sync most of the time, though sometimes it takes clicking on another note for it to go away. Seems the place keeper Untitled Note should be overwritten by the actual note title as soon as it is entered (as it does in list view when editing a title in the note panel), as opposed to displaying an additional "phantom" note. If you click on Untitled Note when it is visible after the cl
  18. Four use cases for creatives / designers in evernote on mac desktop. user case A - I highlight random system text and use a automated script to save that system text, via right click contextual services menu to en. user case B - I right click event or mail message or drag event or message to evernote in Dock user case C - Take a auto contrasted document photo using the ios app via the homescreen shortcut, add this multiple pages image note to en. Then sync straight to the desktop app. user case D - new note via the big desktop plus button and quickly type one line of t
  19. Does anyone have any good tips for me please? I use two macs (work & home) that are synced by Dropbox. I also use Evernote/Notes as a kind landing strip for projects and like to add 'file://' to the path to create links, e.g,. '/Users/work/Dropbox/untitled.txt' becomes 'file:///Users/work/Dropbox/untitled.txt'. This takes me from Evernote/Notes to the Dropbox file/folder. Great. But if I hit the link from home, the path is wrong (it's needs to be 'file:///Users/home/Dropbox/untitled.txt'). I know that I can replace the root directory with a tilde. So t
  20. Recently, whenever I create a new note, click in the Title field and start typing, the default text "Untitled" shows up in front of whatever title I type, as such: "UntitledShopping list". To work around it, i have to type any letter, then manually delete the word "Untitled". To clarify: "Untitled" is greyed out when the note is created, disappears when I click in the title fielt, but reappears as I start typing. Very annoying. Naturally, I tried to file a support ticket throught the Evernote Web site: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=176617 I selected
  21. I cannot find any solution, any assistance appreciated. Running Chrome Web, Windows 10 on PC. Basic Subscription. Also checked android, same issue. A volume of entries, approx 1-2hrs+ work, disappeared from Evernote. Both partial and new notes. Past 2hrs approx since I noticed, Evernote is not saving anything since. It is creating new "Untitled" Notes but not saving the note name or any of the content.
  22. I'm unsure exactly what's occuring: I pasted a recipe page from epicurious.com. When I hover over the note, I get a magnifying glass with a + sign, but I cannot mark or edit any text. The whole note is surrounded by a blue box. If I click on the note, up pops a full screen view, with a header which on the left is named "Untitled", in the center is " - 100% + ", and on the right an X to close this view. There are also carats (<>) to move the image L or R. One of those will show the image saved with the note. I don't want any of this *****. I want to edit the note. "Remove f

  24. Hi, My notes are all good on my work laptop. But they haven't synced with web evernote or my personal laptop for about a month. They appear as new notes but they're blank/untitled (see attachment). I've made sure I'm using the latest update, I'm connected to the internet, etc etc. Not sure what to do!
