  1. AI Edit is still a beta test. As such anything can go wrong. The usual dance is log out / log in, maybe with a quit the app / restart the computer and uninstall the app / restart the computer. When this fails, you will only find answers with support.
  2. We all saw this train-wreck coming, except BS, who for some reason chose to ignore the feedback. There are just so, so many problems now that it's laughable that it's called a 'productivity app'. The FORCED migration to this totally inept version from Legacy has cost me dozens, if not hundreds of lost hours & stress only to find out that nothing really works properly in V10....still, after all these years of them using us as beta testers!!!! I'm not a lawyer, but if someone were to start a lawsuit against them for prohibiting access to my Legacy data in a way I had been accustomed to & had paid for, I'd be joining it. Due to app problems I was unable to successfully export an complete ENEX backup of all my data from Legacy before they shut that down. I still can't now from V10 either & they're not even trying to help me via support, so that means I don't know what state my valuable data is in. I just noticed that one of my notes has an 'Untitled Attachment' which I can't access, so that means at least some data is missing, lost or corrupt. So, if BS in not already overwhelmed with the tsunami of anger & disappointment from their existing users, I suggest we LET THEM KNOW LOUD AND CLEARLY by creating lots & lots of noise everywhere we can. Support tickets, forum threads, social media, regular media, etc... Tell everyone you know what you think about Evernote now, just like we all did all those years ago while we helped it grow!
  3. I just reinstall my linux Mint. Clean linux-install with backup exept for aplications in the download folder. Thinkin' I could get the beta from your web ... But no - It's not there - it's been removed. I pay every month for my evernote - and i far mostly used evernote on my main workmachine ( linux ) And then it's syncroniced with my "put of the house laptops" ( mac + windows 11 ) Could you please opload the beta version again - i Know it's a beta, but it was workin, almost flawless - which means great. Please ... kind regards Mads / DK
  4. @agsteele, I think you would know this: Is there still a beta testing program? I would think that that would be the logical venue for "work in the earliest stages of development," not a random group of increasingly mystified users. Hopefully it will have some purpose and function(s) someday, but in the meantime, seriously, isn't this what beta is for??
  5. Back during the beta of the new Evernote, I mentioned in the beta test forums that there were features I used in Evernote that were not in the beta. That was in October of 2020. When the new Evernote was released, many of those functions were not in the new Evernote. Yet features that were useless to me kept on being added! I continued to use Evernote Legacy. Every once in a while, I would look for a replacement. All I tested had issues. 2 weeks after I paid for another year of Evernote, I received an email saying that sync for Evernote Legacy was being removed on March 23! I knew that they had stopped supporting Evernote Legacy a long time ago ... but I never expected the sync to be deprecated! I found several articles on Evernote Alternatives and started testing conversions and syncs to Android. FYI, my Evernote DB has 11 stacks, a couple of hundred notebooks, and nearly 10K notes! The ENEX files of the stacks total just under 2 GB. Many of the note apps I found did not have a conversion function from Evernote... In my tests, I had conversion issues with OneNote, Zoho Notebook, Notion & Obsidian (Obsidian didn't keep the last modified date of my notes!). I had sync issues with OneNote. I ended up deciding to use Joplin (https://joplinapp.org/, https://joplinapp.org/help/). Joplin has versions for Windows, Mac, Mac M1's and Linux. Mobile versions for Android and iOS... Interestingly, one article about converting to Obsidian suggests using Joplin in order to convert to ENEX and then using the MD files with Obsidian! Both Joplin and Obsidian save files locally. Obsidian uses a FolderSync app to send changes to other devices. I had issues with the DropBox and OneDrive syncs for Joplin: the syncs stop when the device locks. As my phone locks after 10 minutes, this was unacceptable! I asked on their forums and Joplin Cloud was recommended by one user. Joplin is free, Joplin Cloud Basic is 28.7 euros/year while Joplin Cloud Pro is 57.5 euros/year. I had to buy Pro due to the size of some of my notes: Basic is limited to 10 MB per note or attachment while Pro has a 200 MB note or attachment limit. Joplin Forums are very responsive by the way, especially compared with Obsidian's forums: after 10 days, I still have had no response to 2 questions about Obsiddian imports! Also, no one from Zoho support responded to my support email about conversion issues. Even those this is late, I hope this helps some of those who are looking for a replacement for Evernote Legacy! John
  6. Might be a good idea to finally update the website. Linux is still listed as a Evernote core feature, and as "beta" indicating it's under active development.
  7. In the new Web Beta, hitting TAB indents the whole paragraph, not just the line. When writing documents I have to hit the spacebar 5 times to indent the line for a new paragraph.
  8. Luckily I don't hear voices of screaming monkeys in my head, however I do share they are too lose with changes, impact on end-users, etc. for this professionally used tool on which I rely heavily. They should introduce a more concrete alpha, beta, pilot, final channel division as far as I am concerned. However I do like the balls they have and the flexibility. Not the quality so much.
  9. I was starting to be on my way out due to the v10 UI Revamp from January/February. The 'Press "/" to insert an element', AI Edit Popup, Files Feature, Green to Blue internal links, increased line spacing and probably more (that I can't remember off the top of my head) just confirmed it for me. I loved v10 and I was actually fine paying up to $200 a year because I got so much value out of Evernote up until a couple of months ago. However, I need a stable Evernote to be productive. Probably 90% of my usage is for productivity work and 10% usage is for archive/file storage. I'm sure if those numbers were flipped it might be a different story for me. The constant churn, bugs, and beta and A/B testing on users gives me a feeling of loss of control and unproductiveness and some of the recent changes just aren't for me. I feel like I'm on shaky ground and I keep wondering what is going to change or break next? Maybe it works for their bottom line and they should do what is best for them, but I have to do what is best for me too. Perhaps I'll be back if and when the dust ever settles.
  10. There is no alternative desktop app for Linux. Sorry. Development of the beta for Linux was stopped as announced last year and it used the old sync so now no longer works at all. The only options are the web browser or a VM for the Windows app.
  11. It's not working on Linux anymore. It says "client not supported please upgrade" What is the best alternative for Linux? Please don't say use the web app Even thought it was in beta, it was working so perfectly! Any chance you can ***PLEASE*** bring it back?
  12. It would be a smart thing to make beta things optional and not forced. They have Google Play console for beta testing, they don't use it. Also I REALLY hope they don't settle on this design. It's horrible that I can't see my recent notes anymore and it has so much wasted space. They are currently deciding on these 2 designs: Second one looks good, but I still don't know why they greet me and why do I need the date in a note taking app... Again lot's of wasted space. 🙄 Looking forward to the "much faster" stuff!
  13. Thanks Boot17. I suppose my only reprieve will be to use a different program. I fully agree with your words on the beta testing and buggy releases. What I cannot understand is how an organisation can consider it acceptable to change the default view of something and expect that the change is going to be fine with everybody. If there was a work-around - in this case having a line spacing pulldown item/default - then fine. But to just change something without having the ability to revert is rather arrogant. I do feel that typing the above is an entire waste of time in that it will achieve nothing. I would like to be proven wrong, but I expect that Evernote's ears are closed and that the default line spacing will remain without the ability to change via a dropdown and without a tickbox to allow that setting to be your own default. If anybody from Evernote-staff reads this, I would appreciate your thoughts.
  14. I share similar thoughts. This recent constant change of how my notes look and sometimes function (blue internal links anybody?, press '/' to insert an element?, AI Edit, AI Edit, AI Edit) along with A/B and beta testing on users and sometimes buggy releases has been somewhat of a turn off for me personally. You can't turn off auto updates and so installing a slightly older version will only be a temporary reprieve.
  15. Dear Evernote, Our 15-year anniversary was last month. I remember the day we met like it was yesterday. Google Notebook had told it's users they 'weren't that into us.' I went to a party, and Evernote was there. She gave me a sweet smile from across the room, and it was love at first sight. At first I only used the web app. The more we dated, the more I fell in love. Our relationship was burgeoning, I installed the app on my phone, and we have gone everywhere together. There was no native app for my OS of choice, Linux, but there were workarounds. I accepted that no relationship is perfect, and loved Evernote, blemishes and all. Evernote was integral to planning the wedding. Over the years I've been thrilled to show off the application love of my life, extolling my love for Evernote to anyone that would listen. Some people rolled there eyes, "Here he goes again." I think they were jealous. After a time, I learned that the legacy Evernote client could work on Linux. I was overjoyed, and my Evernote love affair reached new heights. Evernote made me feel like I could do anything and go anywhere! Together, we saw London, we saw France... dare I say, there were times I made notes about buying new underpants. I was happy to share my hard earned money with Evernote yearly. It felt good to support Evernote, and hoped my money would be used to buy something nice. I will admit, my flaws are many, but Evernote's one flaw of ignoring my OS of choice with a a native app was always in the back of my mind. And then one day last year, a month before a big trip and the most important time for planning, the legacy client stopped working properly on my workstation. I thought, is it me? What did I say? Should I buy Evernote some flowers? Dejected, I accepted having to sleep on the couch and used the web app on my workstation. But Evernote was angry at me. I highlighted some text and tried to add bullet points, but Evernote deleted all the text and left a single bullet point in its place. I was getting the silent treatment. It hurt. Why, after all these years, would Evernote treat me so? Then, another day, I checked my wallet, and Evernote had taken more than the previous year. Way more. How was I to have lunch that day? I could no longer go to the nice restaurant, and instead was ordering from the $.99 menu at McDonald's. I should have appreciated the clown at the restaurant in the yellow outfit smiling and trying to cheer me up, but somehow his red nose and shoes were mocking, as if I was looking in mirror. Alas, I couldn't help but feel betrayed. Evernote had sent me to the couch, and charged me 30% more for the experience. So I gave her another chance, hoping Evernote would see me for who I am, and rekindle our love. When, to my delight, Evernote talked about beta testing a client for Linux. Evernote was telling me there's still a chance! My heart soared! Though I was late in hearing the news, I signed up to be a tester anyway. I missed the cut, but was thrilled that Evernote still had feelings for me. In time, I could stop sleeping on the couch! While waiting, I continued to sleep on that couch, but it's lumpy. The lack of sleep meant my use of notes declined, and life was more frustrating without the support of my trusted partner. Evernote and I hardly talked now, except when absolutely necessary. But I would check in every now and then, trying to find news of the Beta test. And to my dismay, I found that Evernote for Linux had only been a tease. She would giggle with Windows, she would bat her eyes at Mac, but she would not even make eye contact with Linux. All the more saddening since Mac is derived from Linux, and still had so much in common. It was hard to ignore, Evernote didn't love me anymore. She was still happy to take my money but did not outright leave me. I felt used. I already admitted to being flawed, and though my relationship with Evernote wasn't completely over, I began to look at other apps. At first it was just passing glances. But some of them looked really sweet and kind, and while not having all the supermodel curves that Evernote has, they had their own girl nextdoor appeal and down-home kindness that made me believe I wouldn't have to sleep on the couch ever again. I thought, maybe I would go out on one date. Just one. Could I fall for another app? So I turned on my laptop, always my last choice in Evernote interaction, with a still functioning Evernote legacy client, and discovered it could no longer login/sync. Evernote had barred me from accessing our shared bank account. I couldn't even take out a measly 50 notes that I made. With my tail between my legs, I went to stay on Bill Gates' couch, dug up a Windows box, and installed the latest Evernote client. I eyed her up and down, seeing what a client 4 full versions more recent looked like, and I wasn't impressed. It felt too much like the lumpy couch. Maybe I was bitter, maybe I was no longer looking through love goggles. Maybe I was seeing Evernote for who she had become. I took some of my hard earned notes, and went on my date. And you know what, we hit it off! She may not be flashy, and she may not turn everyone's head when she walks by, but she has a good heart and she turns my head. There's more good news, I'm saving money, and no longer have to visit that red-haired clown. I'm taking my new date to the nice restaurant, too. Evernote, I'm sorry to say, we're breaking up. It's over. It's not me, it's you. I hope one day you'll look back at the good times and find your true self again. So long, EverGator PS - You can keep the lumpy couch. PPS - No, we cannot be friends.
  16. most of recent"improvments" are not avialable to me even as a beta tester including files and tasks changes.
  17. I actually agree with this pretty completely. I don't know if this is the BenSpoo corporate culture, if they take this lab-rat approach to the users of all their apps, or it's something they're trying out with Evernote. Want to change the UI of the desktop/Web and then mobile apps? Try this: announce a beta group and experiment on them! But then you want to know how a group of non-self-selected-volunteers would react? Too bad--you can't do that. After the beta test, then announce the change so people can look at it, and then make it, and if it draws a lot of fire tweak it or roll it back. Takes too long? No, it doesn't. It takes the amount of time necessary to do something right. It may take the sum total amount of time for BenSpoo equivalent to all the time taken by unsuspecting users trying to figure out what the 🤬 is going on under the current system. Oh, we could have found out about it on X or the blog? I waste too much time in these forums doing meta-Evernote stuff, and have too much concern for my mental health to ever go on X. And yes, I will be sending this to feedback@evernote.com.
  18. I would totally agree, - if there were only a couple of issues - if there was a chance to get support within a reasonable amount of time - if I had enough trust in V10 being at least a reliable base even for important stuff like Legacy definitely was - if you would spare the rant against users with different experience from your own ('pity party') As it is I would have to write tickets and answer unrelated support questions all day which I don't have time for. Luckily I made a complete export to ENEX files right before Legacy stopped syncing, imported everything into EagleFiler and Keep It and will use Evernote only as a static data dump until my subscription expires in November. Especially Keep It is like a clone to Legacy with added benefits, so I couldn't be more happy and encourage everyone who misses Legacy to give it a spin. And if something goes wrong I get support repeatedly within a couple of hours including individual modifications to the apps that correct my issues (found an issue with Eaglefiler with 'umlauts' and received an update within 2 hours (including analysing and recreating my issue, writing a fix and rolling out a beta just for me). Of course this kind of support is only possible with a small company, I wouldn't expect BS to react so quickly, but Evernote support has been abysmal not for the last few weeks but for the last few years when it was needed most and that is not something I can't accept with software that is so important to my work. I see that BS are working to improve things but I have no confidence whatsoever in the code base they acquired so there will probably many more issues popping up. Since I now have two viable alternatives that do exactly what Legacy did and much more I will post issues here just for information and if others find them as well BS might react.
  19. LOL - So the very same day the cancel legacy they send out an email stating they are increasing the price. Bit of a p*ss take to be fair .. same day ? I received this 10 mins ago... We're writing to let you know about an upcoming change to your Evernote Personal subscription. Also, we're excited to bring you an update on some of Evernote's latest features and improvements. Each one is designed to help you enhance your productivity. The team has been working hard to bring them to you—more on this below. First, the new pricing. The price of your Annual subscription will change to 79.99 GBP per Year. The new price will take effect on your next renewal, 4/23/2024. New pricing came into effect as of May 1, 2023 for new subscribers. By introducing new pricing, we know there's a risk of disappointing valued Evernote customers like you. The change helps us continue improving the performance and reliability of the product we all love, as well as adding exciting new features. Rest assured that you won't be paying more for just the same product—we think you're going to enjoy and get great value out of the latest features and improvements. Here are a few of them… Real-Time Editing. With Real-Time Editing, you can now seamlessly edit a note on multiple devices simultaneously. So if you start typing on your smartphone, for example, you immediately see these characters appear on the version that's open on your laptop. And when you share a note with someone else, you can finally all collaborate on it together in real time—reliably. Real-Time Editing is useful for everyone wishing to edit on multiple devices or share their notes with others, and for Teams users in particular. Learn more. Synchronization technology. We've been working on revamping Evernote's technological foundation to boost the speed and reliability of synchronization. This is an area flagged by Evernote customers over the years, and we're investing heavily to take giant strides forward in this regard. You may have already noticed how much smoother the sync experience is. In addition, the frequency of same-note conflicts has been dramatically reduced (and, for most users, completely eliminated). Additional improvements are coming in the next weeks, focused on enhanced syncing of shared and newly created notes. AI Note Cleanup (now in public beta). We've been grafting away behind the scenes to add AI capabilities to Evernote, starting with a simple yet powerful tool. With AI Note Cleanup, you can quickly and easily tidy up messy, scattered notes—without altering their original meaning or tone. We've designed this feature to help you streamline your note-taking process and focus on what matters most. All the while, keeping your data safe by implementing the principles of privacy by design and by default. Learn more. AI-Powered Search (now in public beta). AI-Powered Search helps you get the right information from your notes—accurately, quickly, and conveniently. Just enter a question in natural language (like What are the to-dos from yesterday's meeting?), and AI-Powered Search pulls out the answer from the content of your notes in a matter of seconds. And if you need to filter your notes instead, that's easily done. Just enter your query and we'll identify the best keywords to use to get the results you're looking for. And more! The innovation doesn't stop there. We're putting in place plans to make Evernote even more useful, and we're excited to start rolling out more improvements for you. As a loyal Evernote user, we hope you're as excited as we are about the future of the product. Concerning the pricing change, we're notifying all customers who are impacted before their renewal date. No action on your part is required, but you can manage your subscription anytime by visiting your Account Summary. As always, we're committed to providing quality services to you, and we appreciate your continued support. If you need any help, just reach out or visit the Help Center for more information. Sincerely, Your Evernote Team
  20. I understand Evernote has to made decision to abandon Linux support for business reasons. But for us Linux users who relied on your Beta desktop app that stopped working today, could you please post a how-to guide so that we can export our content via the web app to a solution that does still support Linux? I've subscribed to Evernote for quite a while now, even at the recent massive price increase, and to leave users like me stuck would be unethical.
  21. I just installed Sonoma 14.3 beta and everything seems fine except my Evernote - crashes on launch. Hopefully resolve with next Apple or Evernote update - just a heads up! I have plenty of other devices to access my Evernote for now.
  22. Does BS actually realize that a lot of us actually DEPEND on being able to access the data we have in EN?!?! This isn't some F'ing game we're all playing here. Stop rolling out un-authorized, un-tested, un-explaind changes to all of us: We're not paying to be your beta testers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. As you are obviously unlucky beta testers and the rest of us don't know what you are talking about, could you please post a few screenshots of the new beta interface on the iPad?
