  1. No special configurations needed, just make some of the existing stylesheet(s) accessible. Since they already exist underneath, it shouldn’t require much effort. Then the community can adjust stylesheets to their liking, while the developers can fix the real software bugs...
  2. Again, why did they replace the existing themes, they just had to add two new ones and keep the existing ones...
  3. Me too, it’s much easier on the eyes. I use it all the time, as do most developers these days
  4. You mean the standard EN contract we all have or do you have an additional one ?
  5. Contrary to what some people claim, MacOs also appears to be vulnerable to serious virus attacks: CVE-2023-50643 : An issue in Evernote for MacOS v.10.68.2 allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code, severity 9.8 !!! So in this case, an attacker can gain access to even your most sensitive local files... The good news is that it has been fixed in the latest release 🙂
  6. Markdown is not a single standard, most note-taking apps have their own dialect of it. Moreover, Markdown has very limited expressiveness, so it is often supplemented with HTML (which is part of the 'standard'). As a result, a full Markdown reader is more complicated than an ENEX XML or HTML reader alone because it has to support both MD and HTML. edit: here a few examples of mark down limitations solved by HTML: Hacks | Markdown Guide
  7. How difficult can it be, the update time should only be set when the user changes the note, not when the system touches the note for internal reasons... A second (internal) update time may be needed for internal purposes such as history, incremental backup (in the future) etc
  8. The update time issue on the Windows client appears to be resolved since version 10.73.4, EXCEPT when decrypting an encrypted note just for reading, the update time is still adjusted unexpectedly.
  9. I completely share your opinion, this light theme is so pale and less readable that it will push away potential users. I wondered if I was the only one who felt this way, so I asked my son (who recently graduated in computer science) and he was also shocked by what they did to evernote. He thought that this must be a quick and dirty implementation and that we might see some improvements soon I'm lucky because I'm a dark theme user anyway. As I stated, I'm fine with the new dark theme, even though the previous one was better because the side note list font was larger and sharper. I hope they will correct that.
  10. Generally, I am fine with the dark mode, but the note list font bothers me a lot. It looks more fuzzy and unclear than the snippet list font, for example. Is it because there is an aliasing problem or is the font too bold in note-list mode? Have you tried the note list yourself or are you just using the snippet view? edit:The note list would be much easier to read if it had the same font and fontsize as the tag list.
  11. That's great! I can’t wait to use it. You are a beta tester, right? I volunteered to be one too, but I haven’t got access yet 😞
  12. Regarding zooming: this is not very effective in the current version, because the steps are too large. It would be better to reduce the step size by half or more, as most other apps do. Also, please add the option to zoom with ctrl-wheel.
  13. Great! Is the note title column width in the notelist already resizable now?
  14. IMHO, this is a false dichotomy. EN can simply allow users to customize their UI settings like most contemporary note apps do (even the legacy Evernote had it). As I mentioned before, the simplest solution is to make some of the stylesheets accessible, this gives optimal flexibility, everybody happy. If they are reluctant to do that, they should at least let users configure the system font (from the whole Inter list), fontsizes, font colors and background colors How come a 100€/year app cannot do what the free note taking apps can?
  15. We are relying on beta testers to monitor this since it has not been released yet. But I still don't get it, why should anyone accept lower readability than before, is it just for cosmetic reasons, or am I missing something?
  16. Why do people invest in high-contrast monitors only to have UI designers degrade the contrast back to that of an 80’s LCD monitor or less? It's important to note that poor contrast can be a serious issue for anyone using (mobile) devices in real-world light conditions, such as bright sunlight, not just those with impaired vision.
  17. I haven't got it yet, except for 5 minutes by mistake. Anyway, I hope they keep an eye on this thread too...
  18. Release note 10.72.2 says: Fixes a problem where some notes would incorrectly show as recently updated even after being viewed. @Federico Simionato this is NOT solved: I've seen it twice by quickly stepping through the note list a few times 😞
  19. Strange that the beta testers haven't noticed / reported that fixed title width yet
  20. Yes, the fixed column width for the note title is disturbing my workflow too! I wonder if this was intentional or just forgotten...
  21. I hope they don't forget to tweak the dark theme too ...
  22. If there is one advantage of Electron web apps, it’s the ease with which themes can be created using CSS style sheets. As already mentioned, If EN is serious about a modern UI, they should provide more than two themes or much better, allow users or the community to create or adapt their own themes. Since these are Cascading style sheets, only a portion of them may be made public to keep it simple and safe for the end user. So the real meaning of a modern UI is flexibility and customizability, in contrast to the rigidity of a 1980s UI. For example, Obsidian is one of many web based (note) apps that provides dozens of themes, both from the developers and the community, which can be used to customize the app’s appearance to your liking. Here an example of a Obsidian style sheet, very simple and self explaining, just change the green values to your liking: /* Change the font size of the editor */ .CodeMirror pre { font-size: 16px; } /* Change the font size of the preview */ .markdown-preview-view { font-size: 18px; } /* Change the background color of the editor */ .CodeMirror { background-color: #f8f8f8; }
  23. While it may be possible to implement the Windows 11 high contrast themes, there is a simpler solution. IMHO, there have been no visibility complaints about the current dark and light themes. Therefore, just providing an additional theme with the current colors and font sizes would be an easy solution since it's already there and approved (in terms of readability) by the community...
  24. Thanks, it was hidden by my dark theme viewer edit: looks good, apart from the grey font. But I don't see any dark theme screenshot 😞
