  1. Update: Unfortunately my excitement in the previous post was short-lived. Within 30 minutes, it was slow again. I was really excited to use Evernote because it seemed to have all the features I wanted, and I subscribed to the monthly plan. However, the sluggishness makes it such that when I have two to three ideas, by the time the first note finishes saving (which takes forever on the mobile app), I have already forgotten the other two ideas. I had to move all my notes to Obsidian, which is blazing fast, and has an incredible "Graph View" which is similar to what the Infranodus-Evernote API platform offered but this new "Graph View" is directly integrated within Obsidian. And Infranodus had some serious issues working with Evernote (likely an issue on Infranodus' side). For these reasons, I have decided to not use Evernote for the time being. I look forward to popping back in the future to see if the performance has improved, because the tags, ease of taking notes with all sorts of media, and clean interface were really attractive to me. I hope this feedback is helpful to the dev team.
  2. I just saw that there is a new version for iOS available today: 10.37.1 I downloaded it on my iPhone X and immediately noticed all my complaints about lag and sluggishness disappeared. Evernote is now extremely fast to open new notes, save, go back out of the note, and sync my newly created notes. It’s exactly what I would’ve wanted/expected. Wondering if (and hoping) anyone else noticed this improvement?
  3. Just downloaded the new update 10.37.1 for iOS and immediately the responsiveness of Evernote in all situations is SUPER fast. No lag, very snappy, blazing fast. I hope it stays this way, and if so, then at this point Evernote is perfect for my needs. Thank you Evernote team!!! Really impressed and grateful for such quick responsiveness from the team! (And they added automatic note titling too!) Edit: the fix only lasted 30 minutes, and after contacting Evernote support they mentioned they are still working on the slow performance.
  4. Woohoo thank you Evernote team!!! Just grabbed the iOS 10.37 update and I see the automatic note titling! Lowkey, would prefer if it did it without tapping the title, but I’ll take it! Loving that we have the automatic title! and the new update seems to have made Evernote SUPER snappy/fast on iOS. No lag at all it’s blazing fast. Hope it stays that way. As a new user, I’m impressed and grateful for such quick responsiveness from the team!
  5. Interesting, thank you! Not sure why I'm experiencing it...though I did receive a reply from Evernote support an hour or two ago:
  6. Thank you for the reply, I appreciate it! Good to know about that...during my tests, I have remained on the same network (e.g. either 4G or wi-fi). Do you use an iPhone with Evernotes? I'll try it on the iPad as well and check the performance on my end.
  7. Unfortunately, sluggish performance on iOS has returned. The amount of sluggishness is sporadic, but overall it makes the app difficult to use reliably. Additionally, I feel very uneasy writing notes because when it behaves sluggish, there is no guarantee that all the text I write will get saved! This occurs over Wi-Fi and 4G LTE. It becomes a bit faster when I turn on Airplane mode, but not by much. Attached Videos: 1. Evernote loses text in the note 2. Evernote slow to respond after saving 3. Evernote taking forever to save a note 4. For comparison - iOS Notes is very fast I do not experience this issue when using Evernote on the PC. 8. Update: I’m not experiencing the issue after signing out, uninstalling the app, and reinstalling it several times. At first, it was starting to appear as if the adding new iOS widget, or downloading the notebook for offline use was causing the issue, but after several reinstalls things appear to be fine. I will report back with screen recordings if the issue resurfaces and if I can reproduce it.
  9. I have been monitoring sluggish performance in this other thread, but because on several occasions I have now noticed that some of the text I have written in a note goes missing, I am creating a new topic. Problem Description: Upon creating a new note, typing text in the body of the note, and then clicking the green checkmark at the top left to save, there is sometimes a long delay of 5-20 seconds. It is unclear if the green checkmark was unresponsive or if the app recognized the tap and is just loading, so occasionally I tap it again. Upon backing out into the list of all my notes, the body of the note that I had just created is sometimes missing the last sentence that I had typed. System Specs: iPhone X on iOS 15.5, Evernote v10.36 Free trial of Personal membership. All notebooks are downloaded for offline use All other apps are closed Tested over Wi-Fi (60Mbps connection) as well as on a 4G LTE connection Additional symptoms of sluggish performance include: Upon creating a new note, even after typing in the body of the note, the green checkmark at the top left is greyed out (unclickable) for 5-10 seconds, meaning I cannot save the note until that green checkmark is clickable. Upon clicking the green checkmark, clicking the green < arrow to go back (i.e. to the previous screen) is non responsive, requires 5-15 seconds of waiting until it will respond. Upon taking a photo within a note by clicking on the camera icon, it takes 5-20 seconds for the photo to finish loading and display in the note When clicking the "add tag" icon, it takes 2-5 seconds (it's not snappy) After selecting which tags should be associated with the note, when clicking “done” on the add tags screen, the "done" button is unresponsive for 5-20 seconds. Contrastingly, the iOS Notes App and OneNote app on iOS are not sluggish at all. They are extremely responsive/snappy.
  10. Update: I have been continuing to test, and on my iPhone X, continue to notice sluggish performance. iPhone X on iOS 15.5, Evernote v10.36 Free trial of Personal membership. All notebooks are downloaded for offline use All other apps are closed Tested over Wi-Fi (60Mbps connection) as well as on a 4G LTE connection Sluggish symptoms include: Upon creating a new note, even after typing in the body of the note, the green checkmark at the top left is greyed out (unclickable) for 5-10 seconds, meaning I cannot save the note until that green checkmark is clickable. 11. Thank you for the reply! We have a gigabit internet plan, generally internet speeds reaching my phone will be 30-300Mbps. However, I will try to do some additional testing and report back. I’m often finding that the app hangs for a few seconds even when I merely create a note and just hit the green checkmark at the top left.. I find myself waiting 5-10 seconds sometimes just for it to save so I can create another note. Glad to hear your testing finds it to be snappy, which gives me hope.
  12. I’m using an iPhone X on iOS 15.5, Evernote v10.36 Free trial of Personal membership. The app is definitely sluggish. Whether I want to create a new note, edit an existing, or add tags, it’s sluggish. sometimes I add some tags to a note, and when I click “done”, it just becomes unresponsive. I can click “cancel”, in which case it usually doesn’t save the tags, and sometimes after 10-30 seconds, sudddenly the tags I had added now appear (not always). After writing a new note and clicking the green checkmark at the top left, sometimes it quick and often times it takes several seconds to finally recognize m the action. It doesn’t appear to be related to my phone being slow. It appears to be related to Evernote constantly trying to connect to the server for every single thing I do. When I turn my phone on airplane mode, things appear to work much faster. When I turn off airplane mode and am back on wifi or 4G LTE, same sluggishness. It is never sluggish when I click the 3 lines (the menu bar) at the bottom left. It’s never sluggish if I click on any of the menu buttons such as shortcuts, etc. That makes sense - those are not buttons that require Evernote retrieving info from the server. However, writing a new note, editing tags, saving the note… those all seem like things that Evernote is trying to load and save on the spot when connected to the internet. But when on airplane mode, it works great. Even adding tags is fast when in airplane mode. If it is indeed a networking related thing, can I please request that all of these things happen locally on my phone, and that the syncing only takes place moments after the note has been saved? Please help! The sluggishness really breaks the flow of jotting down spontaneous, fleeting ideas!
  13. @gazumpedThanks so much for the link to Filterize! That sounds exactly like what I need! I gave Infranodus a shot and it seems to work the way I was hoping, so now I just need to duplicate all the Evernote tags as hashtags in my notes. Haha I have much to learn about comedy, so I wouldn't hold my breath for airtime 😅 For anyone else that may come upon this thread: Infranodus is indeed able to display only your hashtags as nodes, rather than its own auto-generated nodes based on the text it finds in your notes. I manually added some hashtags to a bunch of my notes on infranodus to test it out, it actually works quite well! Once you load the data into infranodus and see the graph, there is a setting under the "Language processing" tab called "Show as Nodes." Make sure "only hashtags" is selected for that option, and voila!
  14. +1 vote for Automatic Note Titling as a feature request. I would really like this to have this as an option that can be enabled (particularly for iOS), where perhaps the first sentence of the note automatically becomes the title. This is something I really appreciated on the Apple iOS Notes app. I already love that Evernote defaults to having the "body" of the note selected, so as soon as you have an idea you can start typing immediately. This is great for quickly jotting down an idea without breaking your train of thought or flow from the moment you have it. It's also beneficial when you have several ideas and need to create a few notes very quickly. The problem is, having to go back and add the title is cumbersome, and also interrupts one's train of thought, especially when one is creating several notes in a short amount of time. It is also redundant (adds extra manual work) when one would anyway have been fine with the first sentence becoming the title. And lastly, the lack of automatic note titling causes note titles to look identical which is difficult for organization because then a bunch of notes show up in the list as "Untitled Note". So, it would be great if Automatic Note Titling is something that can be turned on/off to satisfy those need it and those who don't.
  15. Thank you both for the reply! I got the free trial. By default, it seems to have an algorithm that tries to pick commonly used words or phrases and treats those as "nodes." Which is interesting because it picked very uninteresting words for me... I would prefer to create my own nodes, but as you both mentioned, Infranodus can't understand the Evernote heirarchy. What Infranodus does work with are built in #hashtags directly in the body of my note. So the only way to achieve this for now would be to always manually add a hashtag symbol "#" followed by the name of the tag in the body of my note (for each tag I want Infranodus to recognize), and then also add the Evernote tag to the note for use within Evernote. Seems quite cumbersome for retroactively applying to hundreds of notes unless there's an automated way to do it (which I can't think of at the moment). Maybe Infranodus is also an overkill for what I need. My goal is - since I am working on a standup comedy script - is I have hundreds of notes (containing a single joke idea). Each note has multiple tags indicating what topics the joke is related to (e.g. family, marriage, going to the doctor, etc.). A cool way to come up with the flow of the script would be to click on a note, and then in order to figure out what the next joke could be, to click on one of the tags (or nodes in Infranodus), and see what all jokes exist within that tag, quickly scan through them, and then pick one. And continue the process. For example, let's say I dive into a joke about how I hate going for long shopping trips with family because they end up maxing out my credit card. Well, that joke is about #shopping, #family, #money. So, it would be fun to quickly click on "#shopping" and see if there are any good follow-ups where I would talk about other things related to shopping. Or perhaps there's another funny story about #family I'd rather bring up next. What I'm looking for is having a quick and easy way to hop between potential topics that could follow after the current note. I think Infranodus can do this, but it would require some effort since it cannot read Evernote tags at the moment.
