  1. Yes - there seem to be some Sync issue since v10.42 was released. I use EN on Win10 desktop and Android phone (currently v10.46 on that device).

Having added/updated notes ia the desktop, the Android version sis not sync at all during the least 23 hours. Tried various fixes like above  (clearing cache, reinstalling the Android version etc).

This morning, tried used the web version - that did sync and both my PC and phone seemed to be OK. However, after a break and then restarting the PC, EN failed to load!

So uninstalled the desktop version and reinstalled it from new download from EN website. All up and running and all my 6000+ noyes seem to be there synced and up to date.

Just a remark: If the text in the first line contains a date in the way 04.08.2022 (at least in my place on this planet this would be the cultural convention), the newly created title will be truncated at the first period.

„MyTestTitle 04“ is what is left from „MyTestTitle 04.08.2022 to find out how it works“.

Not a game stopper, but something to keep in mind. Better write any dates in the international order 20220804. Makes for better sorting as well.

    Good spot that!
I guess there has to be some logic in the code that decides how much text from the note is going to be put in the title field. I imagine it's probably "up until the first nw line or full stop (period) - whichever comes first". I generally use the "20220804" or "4th August" formats rather than the dd.mm.yy style anyway. As you say that's beneficial for sorting purposes.

I downloaded it directly (as usual, updating makes the Legacy version panic until you restart it).

It is a strange compromise for those who want the feature vs those who don't.  I envisioned it as a feature that can be disabled in options, but they implemented it as an automatic feature that only works . . . manually?

    Weird.

I still miss the ability to see the title at all times when scrolling down a long note, but I guess that's another topic.

As I noted elsewhere I'm finding it a good solution, but I agree that it would be improved if the feature could be enabled/disabled under user preferences

I'm not entirely sure I like the new behaviour. It might work well in the example given in the release notes where the first sentence of the note happens to be a sensible title. If it's a proper sentence you get the entire sentence upto some max number of characters. The saving grace is that the new title text is highlighted by default so you only have to press delete to get rid of it.

Yes it seems slightly different from how it was handled in Legacy, But, I'm finding it very workable and fits with my personal workflow. As you say the tirle being highlighted after it's been placed is a handy feature that allows the editing of the title.

  5. It would be helpful to be able to focus on what tasks are due on a specific date to aid planning and review.

As far as I can see the filter option on the Task list has a "custom" feature, but that only allows for a range of dates starting today, not for a specific date or range of dates in, say, next week.

Check out the Keyboard shortcuts (click the little keyboard icon in the bottom left or use the shortcut, (CMD + / on Mac, probably CTRL + / on Windows) and look for a section called "Navigation" for a list of shortcuts which may help. You can jump to the list of notes and then SHIFT-TAB a couple of times to get to the sidebar, you can jump straight to the Search Field and then TAB to get out of it and onto the sidebar, or use one of several commands to get straight to a specific item on the sidebar and then use arrow keys and / or TAB and SHIFT-TAB to navigate from there.

    Hope that helps!

Thanks for those comments, Paul A. Yes = the keyboard shortcuts display helps a bit.

O was looking for a way on opening Evernote on my desktop that I could immediately jump into the left sidebar. The way I fund was to use the Ctrl + n combination to open one of my Shortcuts in the sidebar, which highlights the notebook in the sidebar; however, it seems to require multiple tabs to get the focus highlighted and then be able to move around the sidebar. Just wish there was a key combination that got you into the sidebar with the navigation mode engaged...

    I'll keep experimenting

I don't have v. 10 of the Windows desktop app, only the Web version, which is supposed to be closely similar. What I find is that if I'm in the right pane, Shift+Tab (a whole lot of Shift+Tabs, depending on where I am) will eventually get me into the sidebar, usually at the very bottom, on the < Click to collapse arrow. More Shift+Tabbing gets me at last into the main zone of the sidebar, Home - Shortcuts ... Trash, where Up/Down Arrow navigates. Yet more Shift+Tabbing moves me through the controls at the top of the sidebar. So in the Web client it works, sort of, but not very adroitly. Don't know if this is any help for the desktop app.

Dave - Thanks for the feedback. It feels like a feature that isn't quite fully implemented.

On the Windows desktop, I can't find a way of getting into the sidebar and selecting an entry there using the keyboard - you have to use the mouse to select a notebook.

If I do mouse-select a notebook I find I van then use the up and down arrow keys to move up and down the entries in the sidebar and pressing Enter on the highlighted notebook takes you there. You can also use the right and left arrow keys to open or close a notebook stack if you've navigated to one.

I like the idea of keyboard navigation - I'm making more and more use of it, but we seem to missing a keyboard shortcut that will allow you to get into the sidebar to start navigating and minimise mouse usage. Or am I missing something here?

  8. From the v10.36 release notes in this forum

    Quote

The left navigation menu has improvements to keyboard navigation. Tabbing will now select the current focused location in the left nav (for example, if you are on all notes, tabbing will jump to all notes in the left nav), and up/down arrows can be used to move within the left navigation, expand / contract nests, etc.

And from the Release Notes within v10.35.4L

Since there may be times when you can't use a mouse, we've made it easier to navigate the sidebar using just your keyboard.

These seem to suggest that if you are working in the right hand pane, you can somehow get to the current focussed location in the sidebar, then hit tab and you can navigate up and down the sidebar menu with arrow keys.
However, (a) this mechanism doesn't seem  very clear - how do you get into the sidebar without using the mouse (which appears to b the thrust of this feature),,, and (b)  I seem to have achieved it sporadically by accident, but not consistently It would be good if we were shown how features worked - the descriptions given in the release notes tend to be perfunctory and seem to assume the user is in a particular situation .

Evernote is a great product, but there do appear to be instances where its unclear how to use features.

  9. Dave67 -

I see what you mean. That's sort of like pitting a local file address or a IRL in the task. However, as you say "it's really ,messy" (to say the least). It would be great if EN could enhance this so that you could use the Note title app link - as you can do with linking notes together, that'd be so much more easy to use and understand. Hopewfully we van hope hat it'll be improved in a forthcoming fortnightly release.

  10. Yes - this is very confusing.
The latest Windows version (10.28.3) Release Notes says you can now "click a link in a task to open a note in Evernote." (my emphasis)
There doesn't seem to be an example of how this workflow is meant to operate. As you say, links in tasks only appear to operate on local files and web addresses; it doesn't obviously appear that you can link to a note from the task directly - unless you open the task and click on the note that's linked within the task. The description of the functionality deems misleading.

  11. I'm still puzzled by this "feature"...

I've just downloaded/installed  Windows version 10.28.3 on my PC.
    The Release Notes say

Fixed - You can now click a link in a task to open a note in Evernote. That'll make it easier for you to pick up right where you left off.

I can't get my head around how you get a link into a task , where that link will open another note...
It would be helpful i f there was an example (video?) of this workflow.
Can anyone explain this to me?

  12. I'm running EN 10.14.3 on a Windows 10 PC.
When I want to get back to the Home screen from processing a note in a notebook, I can use the keyboard command ALt+Ctrl+1 (were the 1 key is that on the top row of the keyboard) and that works fine. But, if I use Alt+Ctrl+1 where the 1 key is on the numeric keypad (at the right of my keybpard) the shortcut doesn't work...
is their a fix for this?

  13. Thanks agsteele for your response.

Having had issues with my first experiment with this yesterday, my attempts today seem to have worked OK.

However, I have noticed that although the first linked note appears in the note list soon after being linked, there seems to be a delay before a second linked note appears in the list - even though the calendar event menu shows that there are two linked notes to display.

I'll continue experimenting. I suspect that  EN will be "tuning" things as more users get to grips with the feature.

EN is really moving along with the new features!

  14. Experimenting with linking notes to a calendar event.

If I understand it correctly, you can link more than 1 note to a singe event, but having done this (I think), when I click on the show linked notes option from the event in the calendar widget, the search results list is empty... is this a bug? or am I not understanding the feature correctly?

is there a more detailed explanation of how linking notes to calendar events works?
