  1. Searched on Google, found a few websites that store older EN versions. Uninstalled 10.80.3 via EN's default uninstaller, installed 10.79.3, worked fine.
  2. I had to uninstall Evernote, then download and install 10.79.3 manually (you can find it online) and prevent it from auto-updating by setting AppData/local/evernote-client-updater folder permissions to read-only. Not ideal, but 10.80.3 is very much unusable for me and I haven't yet heard back from support so have to stay with .79.
  3. Glad I'm not the only one! 10.80.3 absolutely destroyed Evernote's performance with some of my larger notes where the UI now freezes for tens of seconds at a time while I'm typing. Didn't realize at first but this is absolutely because all of my multilevel bullet lists have become collapsibles (and I have a ton of them in my notes). Hopefully this gets fixed or I'll have to stay on .79 forever. Not sure if making all bullet lists collapsible by default makes too much sense. I'd prefer Notion's approach where bullet lists are bullet lists and toggle lists are toggle lists.
  4. Ohh, I didn't even realize all multi-level bullet lists are now collapsible by default! Thanks for pointing it out - this has to be what's causing the lag since I have a ton of these kinds of lists in my notes (none of which I ever needed to be collapsible but now they are).
  5. Just updated to 10.80.3 and it literally killed performance on Windows. It now takes 5-15-45 seconds for text to appear when editing my 48,074-word long note (and the whole Evernote UI is frozen in the meantime). I'm used to working with notes this large (and much larger) in Evernote on a daily basis and never had any performance issues. Now it's unironically literally unusable. Also updated to 10.80.3 on my Macbook and it's not as bad, but the lag is still noticeable (1-2 seconds). Prior to this update there was no delay when typing whatsoever. Uninstall/reinstall makes no difference, I guess the HW acceleration option isn't available anymore, so going through threads to see if I can find any other solutions. Update: It seems this is caused by formatting, since a new note with 50k words of dummy text doesn't exhibit this behavior, but even after trimming my current note (that has headers, bullet lists, highlights etc.) down to under ~20k words it still causes lag and stutter. Update 2: Downgrading to 10.79.3 immediately fixed the issue. Will have to stick to .79 for now while I'm waiting for support's reply. evernote performance.mp4
  6. Yeah, to me this keeps happening on and off. Sometimes it goes away after a restart, then comes back at random. Here's today's performance on 10.59.5 (Windows) when typing, spellcheck disabled - almost 40% CPU and text takes ages to appear:
  7. Started getting this message last week and it's kinda unhelpful for two reasons: 1. It doesn't really tell me any details beyond "nearly full". How much storage is Evernote using right now? How much space is left on the hard drive it's using? Which hard drive is it even using? 2. What do I do about it? I couldn't find a setting that allows me to change this. "Open settings to change" directs me to Settings > Preferences, and there's nothing I could find that has anything to do with storage. I also couldn't find anything in any other Settings areas (that direct me to my profile). Am I missing something? The idea itself is good, but the implementation is meh. I mean obviously I can just clean up C:/ because that's where I have my EN and I know that, but I'd be confused as a less tech-savvy user.
  8. Just had this happen again on a Windows setup. Been editing a note for a while, navigated to another note, returned - all edits gone. What's worse Evernote seems to have erased not just the changes from this particular session, but from all todays sessions. I've edited this note 7 times today, and none of these changes are present in the previous versions in version history. The version history is there, but none of my changes are inside any of them. The last version I can restore is from yesterday. Apparently I've just lost a whole day's worth of work? I can't even imagine how something like this can happen. Evernote losing the latest version isn't new, but that's a whole different level of WTF. UPD: Restarted to see if it helps - nope. A whole day's of work still gone. But apparently there's been an update. To all the Evernote people reading this: these release notes are really a slap in the face to everyone losing their data randomly. "Strengthening the foundations of Evernote", right.
  9. Having a similar issue on Windows. It's more or less fine at around 10k words, starts lagging at ~15k, and becomes really frustrating at ~30k. Not unusable, but annoying, since I'm a fast typer, and it takes about an extra second for the words to appear. The thing is, I use Evernote almost exclusively for journaling, and I write ~5k words per week. In the past, I could easily keep 6 months' worth of thoughts in a single note, last year I had to cut it down to 3 months per note due to lag, and now the lag is very noticeable after a few weeks of journaling. Disabling spellcheck helped a little, but didn't really solve the problem. I guess it's just the way it is with EN.
  10. Whoa, I've been struggling with EN hogging CPU for years. It was constantly around 10% even when minimized, I had to explicitly close it whenever I wasn't using it. Tried every single fix out there to no avail. Super annoying. Well - disabling spellcheck TOTALLY SOLVED IT: Crazy. Team Evernote: please look into your spellcheck, and give this man the MVP award while you're at it.
  11. This didn't work for me, but another suggestion from the same Microsoft thread worked:
  12. Coming here to confirm it's been happening to me for ages. Exactly the same behavior: sometimes a link opens instantly, sometimes it takes up to 15s before it happens. Don't exactly remember when it started, but I feel like it's always been this way for these past couple years on EN10. Latest versions and everything. I don't open links often so it was never a critical enough issue to reach out to support, but it's definitely an issue.
  13. Thanks for the tip, @PinkElephant! This allowed me to select and export all of my ~2k notes at once - works like a charm. In case it doesn't work for someone else reading this - make sure you quit Evernote completely before/after making the change. At first I didn't realize Evernote was still running in the background even after I closed all the windows, then I noticed the tray icon. Quitting it via tray made the config tweak work.
  14. Thanks for the tip! Started noticing this today and restarting the PC did indeed help.
