  4. I am pleased to announce the the arrival of Action Rules at Alpha Preview version 2. There are still some kinks to work out, but Action Rules is ready for another round of testing and feedback. To participate please read the release documentation at : https://www.evernote.com/shard/s180/sh/5b7b6c73-a133-4cc9-9307-739cef35aeff/30e944d12367f300527b44ecd3d34c54 Please post any problems you see, suggestions you may have, and your impressions of the application, to this topic. Thank-you, Perryn Gordon
  5. Hi Everyone, Thank-you for your interest in Action Rules. Action Rules is a web-service that automatically takes action on any note that has been created or modified, based on user defined rules. Use Action Rules to automate your notes.
  6. Hi Rense, Thank-you for your interest. I am working towards releasing another alpha, maybe this weekend. I may implement the self-registration page on this go 'round, if not I will remember to include you in the user list. thanks! Perryn
  7. @phils I was reading this : http://dev.evernote.com/trunk/best_practices.php I cannot imagine a technical reason why renaming a note is problem, but one might interpret "The integration should not rename any existing user data." as a warning against renaming a note (or other objects).
  8. @Laurent, Thanks for letting me know about that error, I will track down the problem and let you know when it's fixed. Perryn
  9. Hi Laurent, Thank-you for the ideas, those are great! I think I read somewhere that third-party apps are not supposed rename notes though. I will certainly implement many of these, the location one is especially interesting. The chocolate action might have to be a premium upgrade. Awesome ! thanks, Perryn
  10. Hi Everyone, I am implementing a "rules engine" in the form of a web-application. The rules are composed of a filter and an action. Thus far I have implemented filters on note metadata. You can match on the Note Name, Text, Date, Size, Tag, Folder, or custom Checkboxes (generated from within Action Rules). Actions implemented thus far are Move or Copy Note, Add or Remove Tag, Add or Remove AR-Checkbox, Check or Un-Check AR-Checkbox. I am currently making adjustments so that image recognition data, and office document data will be included for searching along with the metadata. Additional actions I am considering are "assign reminder", document conversion (like Word to PDF), and maybe some form of encryption. What do you think of these? What additional filters do you think would be valuable to add to this system? What additional actions do you think would be valuable to add to this system? Thank-you, Perryn Gordon

  12. @Ryan D, Apparently I don't know how to use PM today. It keeps throwing errors. There is no registration process in ActionRules yet, so I'll need to PM the credentials for your account. I'll try again in a bit. Perryn
  13. @Ryan D, I will PM you info to take a peek at my project, I am looking for feedback. thanks!!
  14. Hi AppleMac, logandb, I messaged you credentials and info to check out Action Rules, just remember we're still in alpha thank-you!
  15. Hi wingetj, I am looking for preliminary feedback on an Evernote rules service, currently in development. Please let me know if you are interested in taking a peek, I will send you the necessary information. thank-you, Perryn Gordon
  16. Hello Everyone, I had to put this on the back burner for a bit, and currently I still have more to complete to become beta-test ready. I will do an "alpha preview" this week, though. AppleMac, LoganDB, I will message you (probably tomorrow) with the details, please give it a whirl and let me know what you think. One of the aforementioned details: To get ready you will need to go to http://sandbox.evernote.com , create yourself an account, and populate it with some files, folders, and tags. Your feedback will be very helpful. Thank-you for your continued interest, Perryn
  17. Hi Bill, Coding is moving forward in earnest. I was shooting for about now to beta release, but I am a behind schedule because I changed the framework for the web interface 2/3 of the way through! The back end is working as expected so I am excited to get it rolled out. I will post when I am ready for you to login, then you can private message your email to me. Thank you for your interest! Perryn
  18. Its a web service, so you use your web browser to make rules that will operate on the notes in your Evernote account.
  19. Hello Everyone, I will have the aforementioned "rules engine / auto filter" solution available for beta tesing in about 90 days, hopefully sooner. I have all the hard stuff done, I am just cleaning it up. It searches your folders for notes that match your configured criteria, and then takes the configured action on the matching notes. I like to think that my rule interface is easy to use, we will see if you agree. Let me know if you are interested in testing once it is ready. Ok, back to coding. thanks a lot, Perryn Gordon
