    Evernote behaves *exactly* the same as Outlook. Why are you not complaining to Microsoft about Outlook then?

    Outlook closes an email on Escape, but this doesn't affect the main window. Precisely as Evernote have implemented it.

    No it does not :)
    With a read-only window, yes (an existing email).
    But once you are in write-mode (composing a new email), pressing Escape pops up a "Are you sure?" dialog.

    And that's exactly the point - pressing escape when editing is a common operation. Especially in MS programs, where shortcut operation these days (as compared to the 90's/00's) are multi-key operations (as with VI/Emacs/whatever).

    Can you be clearer on what you're asking for?
    "I cannot work with this - I'm not doing power-point presentations with small bullets..." is kind of cryptic

    I gather you're not asking about automatic disabling of bullet lists

    Sorry for the unclearness :) No, looking at that line alone makes no sense :)

    But the rest of the post is rather clear, IMHO:

    "Windows:
    [menu] Tools > Options > [tab] Note > uncheck "Automatically detect lists, lines, and emojis"

    I wish :) See the attached screenshot from EN 6.0.6.
    Can someone guide back to a version that supports this?"

    That is, I wish that "Automatically detect lists, ..." check box was still in my EN.
    It was there before, and want to go back to a version having this :) I have have a tendency to skip upgrading when things work, so I don't know how far I should go back.
    I use manually typed "[ ]" and "*" and don't want EN to convert them to something else.

    I love having my own checkmarks, "[ ]", because those I can mark as having begun "[.]", doubtfull to do, "([ ])", etc.

    My comment about PPT was meant to refer to the fact that a slide in PPT often consists of five (auto-formatted) bullets and that's that. In that case such an auto-formatting makes sense. It is consistent with the workflow and is meant for presentation.
    My notes are not meant for presentation but for quick recording of my thoughts and findings. If I have to struggle with auto-formatting every now and then, it breaks the flow of writing a quick note.

    Infuriating problem.

    If you use Autohotkey you can add this to a script as a semi workaround.

    ---- 8< 8< 8< ---- (SNIP SNIP)

    Fantastic idea, Timmymayes, to have  AHK deal with it!

    Why didn't I think of that!

    I made a variation that sends "ctrl-up|down" to deal with it instead of moving the cursor. At least on Windows 7, this works perfect, and both in the main windows and for open notes:

    GroupAdd, EverNote, ahk_class ENMainFrame
    GroupAdd, EverNote, ahk_class ENSingleNoteView
    #IfWinActive ahk_group EverNote
    {
      WheelUp::
      Loop 1,
        Send {Ctrl down}{up}{Ctrl up}
      return

      WheelDown::
      Loop 1,
        Send {Ctrl down}{down}{Ctrl up}
      return
    }
    ; This one is necessary:
    #IfWinActive

    Just my 0.02€ :)

    And for those who want to try, AutoHotKey can actually compile a standalone executable with the above script (and only that):

  6. Maybe you all knew this, but I just accidentally found that if I press "ctrl-up/down-arrow", I can scroll up/down without it jumping all over the place (as in Google Chrome [and others?]).

    Of course, this is not with the mouse, hence may not be a proper workaround, but some it may be sufficient.

    Nevertheless, just 0.02€.

  7. Hear! Let's have some control of the scaling, please.

    It makes scrolling in Evernote(s) painfull - one looses track!

    BR,

    Martin

    Basically, whatever you're reading from the operating system, you're scaling it too much when applied to the edit pane.

    ....

    Just saying that you're "taking whatever is handed to you by the operating system" is a cop-out, because at the very least, you could build a workaround into your app's Options where the user could specify the scaling.

  8. Ok, this one annoys me a little bit:

    Open a note (either in EN or a standalone window).

    Paste an image into the note.

    Observe that the image is inserted 1:1 - i.e. not scaled to fit the note's width, if larger, that is.

    If you however change the note's title, the image is scaled to fit (which is what I expected in the first place - consistent behavior between first time paste and following operations).

    Or what?

  9. +1 for Zoom everything.

    Either by ctrl- and crtl+ or ctrl-mouse-wheel.

    I make a lot of screendumps in my job, and collect them notes. But it's almost impossible to navigate a note with images that cannot be scaled.
