I put 2 support tickets in about this on Android. They closed the first ticket without even investigating. I reopened it and sent a screen recording of the blue line running as though it's trying to sync. The reply I got was they can't replicate it and have again closed the ticket.

The save email option was removed by Evernote but they didn't bother to tell anyone. I raised a support ticket about this, you can see the thread here

Also raised it with @Federico Simionato but as yet there are no developments.

The Evernote for Gmail sidebar app is an alternative but it is very slow and clumsy, or you can just forward your emails to Evernote but this latter option doesn't give you a link back to the original email, unless you copy the email's URL and paste it into the email before you forward it. These options are far from being an adequate alternative to the clipper.

Not sure if this is the right forum but I suppose it is a general question on desktop apps.

In Windows (or MAC) where your Evernote data is kept in a local database copy I wondered how secure that database is? For example - If someone got access to my machine and was able to copy the database/logs files, could they extract the data and read my notes? Or could they import that database (or logs) into another Evernote account and then open the notes in Evernote.

I'm not talking about ENEX exports here, just the actual database that sits on the hard drive. At the moment I don't keep a local copy as I use the web version (did use Linux). 

Now I know arguably if someone had access to my machine they could simply open Evernote, however that is assuming I haven't logged out of Evernote and kept a copy of data on my machine.

I have looked in the forums and on the help pages but can't find anything about this.

I know. But the blog post if you read it implies that notes will be downloaded to the web cache to enable working offline.

I tested it personally on an account with 17,265 notes: almost 5 minutes with the old system, 17 seconds with the new approach.

This is not what I am finding. Evernote web does not work offline. Without an internet connection notes will not load.

Thanks for the feedback, glad to be of help. Maybe try using the system for a few weeks alongside your Nirvana system just to be sure before you abandon one, or the other.

@IanFM had the suggestion to search instead through then "Switch To" function, and this seems to work quite well. 

I don't want to take the credit for suggesting the switch to option as it wasn't me it was @Mike P. Because I use a Chromebook I can't use the desktop apps and CtrlQ switch to doesn't work on the web app. Before the AI change I often used the search to find a notebook, this is no longer possible. I can select notebooks and search that way but it's hardly productive. This is really a step back for productivity. Evernote search was very good but now IMO totally broken.

Yes I do. To make things worse today the new AI search appeared today and now when searching by the conventional method (I don't want AI and will never use it) the drop down box only shows 2 results none of which refer to a note that I know exists. So at the moment I can't do any meaningful searches. I have to use the web version now Evernote has pulled the plug on Linux. @Federico Simionato

All you have to do is select the offline option. I don't have to do anything in advance. It just works. 

It has been discontinued. The recent update to the web clipper has had the email functionality removed. 

This is the reply I got from tech support:

"This option is not on New Evernote Web Clipper. It is a feature request. I’ve gone ahead and made note of this for our development team. While we can’t commit to getting all feature requests into the product, we do rely on our community to tell us what they’d like to see in the future. The only feature that we have that relates to clipping using email is the send emails to Evernote feature. For more information about it, you may visit this link: Save emails into Evernote."

This is something I used many times every day and arguably must have been one of the most popular functions that users made us of for productivity. 

Sadly, Evernote is not servicing its users. An announcement that it was to be discontinued would have been helpful but removing a function and not letting anyone know is just bad customer service.

Well I'm not an expert but I use Google Drive, Gmail and Google calendar. All run in a browser and I use them offline regularly. So it is possible.

@Federico Simionato Will you make notes on Evernote Web available offline? Using a Chromebook and no Linux client means that there is no option to work offline anymore. Yes there is the Android app but that falls far short because of the constant bugs and lack of functions.

It is not possible either to open the client several times, even on devices with explicit multitasking abilities, like iPads.

You can try to open the web client, at least on tablets. If it won’t allow it, try to „use the desktop version“ of the browser on the tablet.

I use a Chromebook so the web version is my usual platform for Evernote (Unfortunately the Chromebook I have just purchased won't run the Linux Beta version of Evernote but that's another issue). I use the Android version when I have to work offline, there are places where I work where I can't get an internet connection. I can live with the lack of the multi-select feature on the Android version but having used it on the legacy Android version - where it was possible to select notes and batch move them - I thought I had just missed the option somewhere on version 10.x. You have confirmed what I thought, that it's not possible anymore. 

Evernote has done a reasonable job of making the Android version Chromebook compatible, enabling using the app in mobile or full screen mode, complete with keyboard shortcuts. My Chromebook is a Lenovo Duet with a detachable keyboard so I can use it in tablet mode. The web version works just as well in tablet mode on my device so I don't have a problem using that, as long as I can get an internet connection. I just need to make sure that I've synced to the Android version ready for offline use when needed.

Is there a way in the Android version to select multiple notes as in the web/windows version for bulk moving, tagging, deleting? Pretty sure it used to work in the legacy version of Android.

evernote-backup has a secure direct connection via the API. You login and run the backup. A download of your data is created in a location of your choice on your computer. Thought I would try evernote-backup, both on Linux and Windows. In both cases nothing works. I didn't find the instructions very helpful either. In Linux all I get when trying to run evernote-backup init-db is command not found (I installed this by extracting the tar.gz file for Debian. In windows when I execute the file there is a quick command window pops up then closes before I have chance to read it! Any tips would be appreciated.

I use a workaround, a bit cumbersome but it seems to work ok.

1. In a note top right, click on the three dots and select copy internal link - copy web link

2. Open a new tab in your browser and paste the web link you have just copied, press enter and your note will open in the new tab.

You can then go back to your original evernote tab and go to another note, the first note will stay open in the other tab and you can just switch between the tabs. You might want to ensure you close your open notes before leaving evernote just to ensure all changes are saved.

You need to have a Chromebook that will run the Crostini Linux container, look in your Chromebook settings > developers > linux. If it's there then install the linux container. All you need to do once that's installed is download the Evernote AppImage file, make it executable and run it, you should then see it open up and ask you to login.

Having said that I think you need to be in the Beta Tester programme to use it at the moment. 

The Linux beta version works quite well on a Chromebook plus it can be used offline unlike the web version.

Current evernote web interface doesn't have it. Also new pretty web interface doesn't have it.

I know that I can right click on tab in Google Chrome, select duplicate, then open the other note, click on button that hides all menus, drag and drop the Chrome tab outside the original window and resize it - and then have the note in separate window - but it is so less convenient then just clicking a button.

Please bring this old function of classic web to the new pretty web version - for example put into "..." menu option "new window". Or make double clicking a note card will open it in a new window, just like in desktop app.

There's a Chrome extension called Evercuts in the Chrome Web Store. That has a shortcut for opening a note in a new window. I use it all the time for that and other keyboard shortcuts too.

Google is well known for introducing new products and then discontinuing them a year or two later, but at least they give plenty of notice to their users. Evernote on the other hand just removes one of their most useful tools and doesn't bother giving any notice. @Jay-Bob

I put in a support ticket about this and this is the response from Evernote - "you can save emails to Evernote on the previous version of Evernote Web Clipper. Unfortunately, we haven’t built this feature into the new Evernote Web Clipper. This is one of a handful of features we are still considering".

Are you using Evernote 10 Android versions on your Chromebook? I'm still on the old version because my Chromebook is stuck on Android 9.0. I know some Chromebooks are now on Android 11. The Evernote Linux Beta version works very well on my Chromebook.

The response from tech support is "they will pass the feature suggestion to the development team" which suggests they never introduced it on the first place. No mention of a fix.
