  1. Yeesh. Because of PinkElelphant's observations, I went to try Evernote on a laptop I have sitting around running off wifi. Turns out Evernote works fine in the Brave browser installed in there. For the hell of it, I checked the current version of the browser and saw that it was 1.64.109. Back on my regular machine, I checked the browser version and it was waaaaay behind. Apparently, it hasn't been auto updating. I manually updated the browser and, wouldn't you know it? Evernote works fine now. Seems like I should have thought of this days ago, but I was thinking of it as an Evernote problem. My bad. Anyone experiencing this might try updating to the latest browser version.
  2. So, Evernote won't work for you in Chrome OR Firefox? Last I checked, mine still worked in Firefox and it's working in the Chromium browser, as well. That' goofy because Chromium has the same base as Brave, where I'm having my problem. Like you, I tried all the proposed fixes, clearing data and all that. Nothing works. I just see those stupid shapes bouncing around before I get the error message. Almost no chatter on this problem that I've found, so it seems like it's just a few of us experiencing the issue. Maddening. I'm a paid user of Evernote but my request for help has not been answered in three days. Once again, we have to start eyeing the Evernote alternatives.
  3. What I meant is that the ability to turn it off hasn't arrived yet for me.
  4. I'm forced to use the web interface since the Evernote team bailed on the Linux client. So far, I don't have that "slash command" section in my menu. I would have thought that the web upgraded to the latest version before the desktop clients, but I'll admit I really have no idea how those things are rolled out. Hopefully coming soon to the web.
  5. It was in another thread, I believe. A developer on Twitter announced that there will be a toggle in the next release. https://twitter.com/intent/follow?screen_name=fedesimio
  6. If anyone has figured this out I'd love to hear about it. I'm experiencing this in both Brave and Chromium browsers. It still works in Firefox, but I haven't liked using that browser for quite a long time now. I'm a premium user. In my Brave browser, I dropped the shields for Evernote, cleared my cache, disabled adblocker, disabled all plug ins and all that noise, but still Evernote won't load. I'm on a Linux desktop so I don't have access to a desktop client. A real stumper, this one.
  7. I experienced this today. Been using Brave for years and Evernote never faltered. Today, EN won't open in there no matter what I do. I cleared the data, disabled shields and ad blockers, etc. Just won't open. It's curious that it opens fine in Chromium (I'm on a Linux machine) since Chromium shares a base with Brave. Usually, if something doesn't work for me in Brave, it doesn't work in Chromium, either. I'm stumped. Would be curious if any of you with the same problem ever worked it out. Brave is my Goldilocks browser. It's juuuuuust right. Well, except for today.
  8. Huh. It ALMOST works in Evernote. It'll disappear, all right, but as soon as you move your cursor, the wretched line is back.
  9. Logged my complaint. That stupid line is like having a bratty little kid tugging on your pant leg all the time trying to get your attention. "Lookit me, Pa! Press / to insert an element! I want ice cream!" An irksome distraction with every new paragraph.
  10. Thank God I found you all. Thought I was imagining things and that the "insert element" clutter must have been there all along. It follows me around like a stray cat from one line to the next.
  11. Aaaand I just realized I'M also in the wrong forum. I'm using the Linux beta desktop program. That eliminates some of the confusion, anyway. Sorry about that.
  12. I'm still on 10.19. Other than those pop up messages that don't do anything, I haven't seen any of the other updates.
  13. I keep gettng the pop up message that a new version is available. When I click "download and install," nothing happens. This has happened five or six times over the past couple days. Before that, I'd been getting notice of new versions through email, and installation worked well.
  14. When I was using EN in Windows, I always stuck to an older version, for a variety of reasons. Now that I'm on Linux, that's not an option for me. The Beta version just came out so there IS no older version. Why they would remove this function is a real head-scratcher.
  15. I never experimented with Wine, myself. I'm not familiar with it and I've heard mixed things about how Evernote works that way so I never bothered. I did try a few of the other note applications, but I'm pretty much married to Evernotes way of doing things so I ended up ditching them all. Really hope the official client is upon us soon so everyone can get the satisfaction. My comrades are still suffering out there in the cold! Or something.
  16. "So did I get it right, you have the official Evernote Linux beta client? Sexy! Tell us, how is it? Share your bless with us, so we can keep up our mood down here in the waiting hall." Yep, I got it. Nick, one of the administrators (I think) sent me an invite and bam! There it was. Wish I could somehow pass the invite along to you long suffering souls, but I'm not sure how the hell that work. Anyway, I'm loving the client. I'd been using the web version for a year and suffering its limitations. Before that, I'd been using a very old version of Evernote on a Windows machine. I just preferred the old client to the new, streamlined versions. Compared to that old version I used to use (can't remember the V number,) this Beta for Linux seems super slim. Not much to it, really. But I can drag and drop, batch manage notes, open notes in a new window, etc. so I'm pretty happy with it. I've never been a very advanced Evernote user. My needs are pretty straightforward. Notes, notebooks, stacks... This beta does everything I need it to so far. Here's hoping you all get brought into the party sooner than later.
  17. I waited and waited and waited for the Beta version of the new program and had just about given up when finally it came my way. Within three minutes of receiving it, I had the EN client set up and working fine on my Linux Mint machine. I'm not sure why some Beta program users are getting it and some are not. It seems like they've got to be near ready for the official roll out. Been a year since the announcement. Anyway, hope you all get satisfaction soon. I was bitching about it daily until last week when the client finally came my way.
  18. Aaaaany day now, I tell myself. I literally check a couple times a day, peeking into the EN blog, doing news searches, etc. Nothing, nothing and nothing. I've been pondering a move to something like Simplenote, but I just KNOW that as soon as I get it set up, the EN client will launch. Maybe I should do it for that reason alone.
  19. The year is coming to a close. Will we get Linux for Evernote this Christmas? I'm sure we've all been real good this year...
  20. Man. This problem went away for me after a while without explanation. I'm pretty sure nothing I did is what fixed it. Must have been an update on either the EN or browser end. Who knows. Mysterious stuff. Hope you get it sorted.
  21. Interesting. I'll give that a go the next time it happens. Right now, it's working for me. This morning, it didn't. Goofy.
  22. Well, I could understand if it simply failed to work in Vivaldi, but for many years, it worked just fine. We're offered this vague message about our browser configuration, but no hints at all about what part of that configuration might be contributing to the issue. It's just odd. Exactly this. Nobody's really crying about this problem, but it's damn strange, considering EN web has worked for years without issue and suddenly there's this ominous warning about browser configurations. For me, this thread was helpful just in letting me know that it wasn't my problem alone. I'm inclined to wait it out, but it's always good to hear what experiences others are having.
  23. Ah, shoot. Sorry to hear that. Wish we had some explanation, anyway.
