  1. Ah, shoot. Sorry to hear that. Wish we had some explanation, anyway.
  2. For what it's worth, today I popped open my browser (Vivaldi) and Evernote web was working fine. I have no idea what fixed it. There have been no Vivaldi updates, so I suppose it must have been on the EN end of things. Whatever. Happy to have it back again, but still waiting for the Linux client.
  3. But if you shut down the browser and start it back up, does it still work? Mine doesn't survive a restart.
  4. So, that implies that it's a browser thing, right? Makes me think I should be checking for Vivaldi updates. Something in Evernote's latest release must have broken it for certain browsers. Evernote goes years without giving me any grief, but I use it so much, that any grief at all is going to be life impacting. Glad you got yours sorted, anyway.
  5. The plot thickens. Annoying problem. I've been keeping my browser open after a reboot, but obviously that won't work forever. Very mysterious issue, this.
  6. Yeah, and the other platform updates have been rolled out so it feels like it could be any day. Can't wait.
  7. I check just about every day to see if the client for Linux is out yet. I love Evernote, but I've started looking at some of the alternatives lately. A Linux client would definitely keep me here. I really have no desire to learn a new program and go through the tedious work of importing all my notes. I wish we had some kind of time frame on this. It would be a real kick in the shorts if they abandoned the idea.
  8. Reboot doesn't fix it? It does mine, but only for one browser session. I'm using Vivaldi as a browser. I don't have this problem in Firefox.
  9. I wonder if your problem is related to an issue some of us others are having. In our case, we get a message vaguely explaining that EN can't be opened due to unspecified browser settings.
  10. Would love to know if anyone got this sorted out. This is a problem for me on Vivaldi, as well. Reboot does the trick, but as soon as I close and reopen the browser, I'm blocked again. At this point I don't know if the problem is the newest version of Evernote or Vivaldi.
  11. Hey, that's a really great review of Joplin. Best I've seen. The program seems to have a dedicated group of followers growing by the day. Could be the future of note taking, who knows? My search has ended – the EN Web's beta interface solves just about all of the problems I was having using it on Linux – but definitely keeping this review on hand in case my search for an alternative resumes somewhere down the road. Good stuff. Thanks for taking the time to put all that together.
  12. This has been a fun and insightful thread. I accidentally stumbled into it while searching for something Linux related. Don't even remember what it was at this point.
  13. I just jumped over to Linux Mint from Windows and the lack of Evernote client is my only real discomfort in making the adjustment. At the same time, using Evernote Web has been easier than I expected it to be and then new Beta version even more so. I'm actually fairly content with using the web version now. Before I came to that conclusion, I tried Nixnote2. I thought the interface was pretty good and enough like the Evernote Windows Client to be familiar. But for me, it was buggy as hell, to the point where I couldn't WAIT to uninstall the thing. So close and yet so far. I looked at Tusk, but it doesn't seem to offer anything that you can't get in the web client already. I'm starting to feel like I can let it go and settle in with Evernote Web and stop searching for some magical solution. I simply keep it open in a tab at all times and use it as needed. I've also experimented with opening ENWeb in its own window and using it that way. Kind of FEELS like an Evernote client that way. I slide it over to my second monitor to keep it separated from the riff raff. Good enough for me. I read a few articles proposing that us Linux users should just think about replacing Evernote with some other note application. That's lunacy, I say! Madness!
  14. Yeah, I always stick with classic when I can. In this case, if it easily fixes a bug, I'll make the upgrade. Hey, thanks again for the help.
  15. I have not tried that, so thank you for this tip. I'll try it right away and see if it makes a difference. What a nice easy fix THAT would be. The text is gone for good once it vanishes. It doesn't appear at all on my other devices. But if I enter text in EN on my phone, for instance, it will stick across all platforms. It's only in the web version where the problem exists. I'll try that beta and see if there's any difference. Thanks again. Update: Well, huh. Text seems to stick in the Beta version. That was ridiculously simple. Good call, D-in-D.
  16. Strangest issue I've ever encountered in EN. I recently installed Linux Mint on my machine and since I can't use the Evernote desktop program in there, I signed into the web. Now, whenever I add text to a note, it vanishes as soon as I surf away from that note. I mean, it's immediate. For the life of me, it seems like it's waiting for me to hit "save" or click the little checkmark like you see in the Android EN app. I'm completely stymies by this. I've searched the forum, combed through the settings and can't find anything addressing the problem of text that won't stick. I can't imagine it's a Linux thing because everything else works as expected in the Firefox web browser. Again, it looks like it wants me to save every time I enter new text, but there's no option for that anywhere. A syncing issue? I have no idea. I'm stymied. if anyone has any insight, I've love to hear it.
  17. A few years ago, I had an annoying problem with EN freezing with alarming frequency. I ended replacing my standard hard drive with an SSD just to fix that damn problem. Worth it! But before I made that move, I tried several times to simply leave Evernote for one of the other options. It seems like I tried everything and as I recall, nothing came close to doing what Evernote does for me. Some of those other products are just as good, maybe, but they're different – wildly different than what I've become accustomed to. And since it impacts almost every waking hour of my day, I decided it to do whatever was necessary to get Evernote working again. The point being that as tempted as I am to make a move just on general principle, I think that after I'm done stomping my feet and calling Evernote management terrible names, I'll probably go ahead and pony up the bucks to keep them around. I'll hate myself in the morning, perhaps, but at least I'll be able to write my feelings down and stuff them into the proper notebook.
