  1. To be sure it a workaround for the missing feature and not a real solution. But as I am a 90% Windows user, I love this workaround and wished I had thought of it-very handy. Thanks @cfjrb for the workaround. It is added to my Evernote workflow on Windows.
  2. I am using 6.16.1 beta and my one saved search is still on my toolbar.
  3. @gazumped The dictionary file is stored: C:\Users\<<USER NAME>>\Evernote\LocalStorage\Custom Dictionary.txt Spell check is working for me. Custom Dictionary.txt updates when I add my terms. Sadly, you no longer can edit words into the text file. Some goofball of a programmer added a checksum_v1 to the file. Wonderful. MD5 checksum so you can hack it.
  4. @ej8899 I have to admin that bold titles look natural in snippet view. Sady, I generally use list view and bold title are jarring I hope EN makes bold titles an user option.
  5. Great. They are hiding beta information from the Release Notes. Previous beta releases were clearly labeled as such in the release notes. Wonderful. Thanks for the heads-up.
  6. Beta release or not? I am on the beta channel and received the V6.15 today. From the release notes (see below) it looked like a production release and not a beta (2 or otherwise). Is today's release V6.25 beta or not?
  7. Is V6.15 still in beta. The release notes do not mention beta.
  8. The checksum is a simple MD5 checksum over all the word in the dictionary but not line with the checksum. Editing is possible, but now you need to be pretty geeky to do so. Notepad++ has a default Tool that helps.
  9. In the latest V6.15 release the dictionary file has been moved and renamed. Oh, joy. Also, it is "protected" by a checksum making it harder to edit. More joy. See
  10. I love it how the product manager decided in the V6.15 release notes to mention "Updated the More menu icon on the Note to be consistent with other platforms", something most people might not notice but failed to mention the change to make the list title an overwhelming BOLD. At least make it an option.
  11. Spell check is fixed for me in 6.15. But I need to re-add all my words. The dictionary file is stored: C:\Users\<<USER NAME>>\Evernote\LocalStorage\Custom Dictionary.txt Sadly, you no longer can edit words into the text file. Some goofball of a programmer added a checksum_v1 to the file. Wonderful. See another discussion here.
  12. To answer my own question. The dictionary file is stored: C:\Users\<<USER NAME>>\Evernote\LocalStorage\Custom Dictionary.txt Sadly, you no longer can edit words into the text file. Some goofball of a programmer added a checksum_v1 to the file. Wonderful. Now I will have to add one-by-one all my words after Evernote forgot them for the 10th time.
  13. Spell check seems to be fixed for me in 6.15. But I need to re-add all my words ? Where is the dictionary file stored in 6.15?
  14. @KeithC thanks for the clarification; from a sad Firefox user.
  15. Still not fixed 3 months later ?
  16. Some bad news and some good news .... (1) The user-created dictionary is not used for spell checking in 6.14 beta 1. The is a regression. (2) " - Losing of indent for ordered list after switching notes " is fixed for my use case
  17. Recently Google provided an update to their Gmail client. Update breaks the Web Clipper. Thanks for a fixed ASAP.
  18. Below is Evernote's support's feedback for my reporting of note formatting bugs. I guess it is wait-and-see now. My workaround is to only use bullets for formatting paragraphs and not mix plain indent paragraphs and bullet paragraphs.
  19. I have a lot invested in Evernote with 10K notes and using it every hour of every day as part of my work process. Moving to GDocs is exactly what I DO NOT want to do. Moving to GDocs is not my choice, but if Evernote keeps making editing notes more and more unusable I will have to do something.
  20. I have the same bug report as @KymC open with Evernote support now. The formatting regression errors in Evernote for Windows is making Evernote unusable. I do not recommend Evernote for new users until it is resolved. I am close to stopping to use Evernote for any new projects and use Google Docs.
  21. I updated to 6.11.2.7027 (307027) Public (CE Build ce-43.0.4829) (not beta). It solves my problem of Evernote not using my spelling dictionary. I have to re-add my specific words again to my dictionary. The red-squiggle underline spelling errors stay away even after re-starting Evernote. This bug fix is noted in the6.11.2.7027 release notes "- An issue where words added to the dictionary aren't remembered between app launches".
  22. The workaround in https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/111873-f7-spell-check-gone/?tab=comments#comment-495280 (see text above) does not work for me. I add the word to new dictionary file, the red-squiggle goes away. I exit and restart Evernote, and the red-squiggle word comes back. Evernote, please fix this ASAP. I am running 6.10.3.6921 (306921) Public (CE Build ce-1.39.4387). To be sure, Evernote for Windows is more and more unusable at the most basic usage: Editor bad, no spell check, opening a note very slow, notes forgetting paragraph formatting, etc. Please stop adding any new features until the bugs in the key features are fixed.
  23. @jefito Thanks for the comment. I was hoping the new beta would change something, but it do not. My hope was based on the reply I quoted. Rather than using the revert to an old version workaround, I can wait for a real fix. Does anybody have an ETA on fixing this bug?
  24. I just installed the 6.10.1 beta. I do not have the two files on my desktop. The user.dic file in the Evernote\Dict folder is not created or updated. When I add a word to the dictionary, it is not remembered by Evernote.
  25. Recently Evernote has been painfully slow when changing a selection of a note and when editing a note. My workaround that improved performance was to uncheck "Automatically format text elements". The painful performance seems to have come with V6.8. I have a few very long notes (daily journal/log), but it happened with short notes too. I have 5600 notes. Windows 10. Running on SSD. Did an "Optimise Database", but did not improve performance. I am 80% sure unchecking "Automatically format text elements" improved performance for me. Your mileage may vary.
