  1. Me too...but it does work if you open the note in a separate window.
  2. Beta testing is the final round of testing before releasing a product to a wide audience.
  3. Hi, If, in the navigation sidebar, I click on (all) notes or tags, I get a list of notes or tags to to the right of that, and then there is the large pane for viewing notes. Example: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/218702547 But if I click on notebooks, I only get a full-width list of notebooks, with some extra columns I do not need. Can we please have a narrow notebook list and also a large note view, as shown in the above link, but for notebooks?
  4. I agree, it would greatly increase the usability of Tasks in the day to day flow of work... allowing both the 'tasks in notes' PoV as well as the 'note in tasks PoV'
  5. For those who have the spinning green circle, mine went away and tasks started working after update 70.2. I can not say that was what fixed it (I deleted all the tasks I could find with search and recently found 'create a new task' placeholders that I also deleted in the last days, so that might also be the fix. In any case, Evernote did not respond to my support request that 70.2 might be a cure, so I do not think they ever really looked into this problem (I had it for 5 months)
  6. Good idea... thanks for confirming its not possible the way I describe it. But I did find out later that if the navigation view is collapsed, I can hover over the notebook (or tag) icon and a selection view slides out, where you can select a folder, but also right-click and perform most of the normal operations on it.... the main difference is you can not navigate around in the slide-out as easily.
  7. *NEWS FLASH* I am happy to report that 24 hours after update 70.2 my green spinning circle is gone, and the Tasks View works again!
  8. Hi, If, in the navigation sidebar, I click on (all) notes or tags, I get a list of notes or tags to to the right of that, and then there is the large pane for viewing notes. 9. @stefan66 Yes, thank goodness Evernote has excellent search - I even pay for Pro so I can use the boolean search once in a while. To give you encouragement, it's been 155 days since I reported my problems with Tasks, and 84 days since they have responded in any way about this issue. 😉
  10. Ah, OK, then you meant 'associate' a URL to existing text. No problem. I just thought I missed the start of block-level content management in Evernote... which would be handy
  11. I have not seen chat support work since at least August. I have also been getting or seeing 'We usually can respond within a few days, but right now we are seeing more ticket volume than usual and it may be longer before we can get back to you' also since August. Maybe we we use different support websites.... 😉
  12. @Dave-in-Decatur can you tell me more about "ability to paste a URL link directly to selected text". This sounds like block level links... which would be great!
  13. Hi, thanks for the reply. I really think you are reading things into my text, based on your frustration with those complaining so much. I respect your points, largely because I think we agree. 🙂
  14. When there is a real technical issue, I am not I am not getting the support service that payment covers. I have a 5 month old issue, that breaks Tasks, that has not been seriously addressed by Evernote. I will buffer this by saying when it comes to subscription, log-in and other “simple” issues, support has been good. I am a paying Pro Subscriber of Evernote. I agree Evernote is generally the best product of its kind out there. I paid the new price with no complaints. I want to document this for users deciding if they want to sign up for Evernote, new, or re-new. 6 Aug, 2023 (GrNe) In the last week or so, my Tasks pan views show only the green spinning circle. 7 Aug 2023 (Evernote) My name is Mark, and I will be assisting you today.... 7 Aug 2023 (GrNe) I have tried several sequences of login out, removing data, complete uninstall (using Revo) and re-installation (with admin rights). 15. I would like to reply, as I feel I was mis-understood. Bending Spoons assured Evernotes future. Indeed not a fact, but I did not say it was. This is the general conscience of supports in this forum and Reddit, and you seem to generally agree. The new prices are part of the survival strategy: Again, this is the general conscience of supports in this forum and Reddit, and you seem to generally agree. New features since BS took over. Evernote has not provided a roadmap: Fact, and you agree. The AI features are Beta: you agree. The documented new feature, next to AI is real-time editing (so I stand corrected). Other than that I can find no new features since BS purchase . I would be happy to be disproved. I can document that the last 3 months of releases, since 10.62 have only been fixes and improvements to existing features. BS reputation for price gouging. As I said, its only a rumor/opinion (see article link from Paul A. above) , and anyone making a decision to pay can consider this point. The abrupt change to the free user accounts is, at least, a radical approach, and at worst reflects a business with a lack of user focus and possibly only maximum profit. Future users might want to consider if this kind of approach to the user base might reflect their general approach to all users. (Free) users being trapped. I actually said "captured (trapped?)". Many users have a lot of value and work put into `1000s of notes, embedded images, tagging, folders, and internal links that can not be easily (I have looked into it) exported and imported elsewhere. Thus they are "trapped' in an important sense. Also Evernote has features like the Webclipper, that are best in class so its punitive if they leave the product. The 1 Notebook and 50 notes update. It's a fact it was very abrupt in all ways. Future paying customers need to decided for themselves if this is a concern in regard to how well BS will support them also in the future. As I often said, these considerations, along with the features that exist today (and not hoped for features) might help someone decide if they want to pay for Evernote in the future. I closed saying my personal conclusion (which you can not disagree with😉 was I get enough value to pay, but remain cautious and will establish a safety net for my data if I should ever be cut off from/buy Evernote.
  16. Well, so much for that 'new feature' from BS... its pretty amazing that a Beta function actually gets worse than better....
  17. I have removed all my Tasks, deleted 10 years of trash, quit Evernote, including not retaining my data, and logged back in, but alas, the problem still exists. Evernote has not provided any help after 5 months. They even sent an email recently implying it was a new request, and if the problem still exists...
  18. I was going to start a new post asking pretty much the same, but probably its not useful... sigh. Any ways, here is what I was going to say... "who can help me get a reasonable level of support from Evernote, for an issue reported 5 months ago, and for which I have gotten nothing more than template replies for so far? Since a few months after Bending Spoons took over Evernote, their support page has said "We are currently restructuring the Evernote Customer Support department to ensure we can deliver a better service to you and all our customers. Some delay in response time is expected. We apologize for the inconvenience." Similarly, their auto email response for support says the same for months. I get that the move to Europe required a new support team, and that takes time, but its been about 9 months now, and these messages remains. 9 months is more than enough time to hire and train a support team, even in these resource strapped time. It can also be achieve even quicker by hiring a team from a specialized IT support team. Similarly, if developer support is limited, 9 months is plenty of time to hire new staff, and/or re-allocate resources in the meantime. The trigger for this email is my technical support request, that was submitted over 5 months ago (although their support page says 4!) and remains un-answered. Some on this community said I should be patient, so I was. I did continue to supply updates that might help them figure out my problem. Alas, in all that time I have only what must be automated replies, since I have gotten identical ones several times. I reached my limit when, after a period of waiting, I got the standard email that people get when they first report a problem, which says where to go to try to fix the problem yourself, and to contact them if its still a problem - as if I had not been regularly updating them, and it was a new request. I replied saying it was still a problem. Since then, I have heard nothing. In the meant time the problem has spread to all my Windows PCs, and Tasks are no longer useful."
  19. @gazumped I hope you where not replying to me... In my above your post, I thought I was just stating the facts, most of which you just repeated in another way, and I was not complaining - I was only saying the facts and rumors people should take into account, and then decided if they want to say for leave. I closed with my personal approach.
  20. Yes, we all occasionally need some community feedback on how others perceive our communications with others... me included.
  21. Hummm, again today, and auto update to 10.68.??, and when I next used Evernote, it was back to 10.67.??. Soon after it update again to the lastest version. It all works find, and because Support has not helped me with my problems in the last 5 month, I have not formally reported this and will only hope its not impacting my current functionality...
  22. We have to be objective. Evernote would likely not exist today if a risk investor had not taken up the debt of the business and continued with it. They now need to recover that risk investment. The new prices, including for free, are part of that. There is no statement from Bending Spoons what new innovations they will provide (roadmap). The AI features are Beta, and have mixed success. The fixes so far have largely been due to Bending Spoons migrating to another data format for what ever reasons they deemed necessary, but have not added to the core feature set of the product in the last year. Bending Spoons does have a rumored reputation of buying up products, and harvesting them for profit, and not for feature or user growth. This may or may not be a consideration in the decision to take a subscription. The abrupt implementation of the restrictions on free users is the one highlight that supports users most rational worries. It raises the question about what long-term business would implement such an abrupt significant change in customer subscription base, if paid user growth was their core focus, instead of RoI based on reducing costs, and maximizing income from a captured (trapped) customer base? Thus, any user has to look at what they use today and the features today, and make a decision if this is enough for them to pay for a subscription for another year. Similarly, they have to also worry about the availably of their full data set (notes, folder, and tags) at each moment. I have enough value right now, that I was OK to pay the full new price a while ago (and am not too irritated that later they offer discounts for the less certain). On the other hand, I am going to establish a 2nd product back-up so any new short term restrictions (GDPR aside) on my data accessibility will not be at risk. This is an additional effort and cost, that could lead me still leave Evernote.
  23. This morning, 10.67.3 again... updated just now to 10.67.4 ... so I searched my c drive for evernote.exe, and yes, found two instances ... so I did a good clean up with Revo Uninstaller, re-booted, and installed Evernote again... lets hope it stays with one version...
