  1. There's definitely something buggy happening here. I see similar behaviour.

Google is a rabbit hole on here, but have you replaced your battery? Seems like some replacement batteries do not play happily with some of the browser renderers. I was able to confirm this by switching off hardware acceleration on the Opera browser where I was seeing similar behaviour to Evernote.

Unfortunately, they've removed this setting from Evernote.

I'm running version 10.60.4 and I'm still experiencing the never ending "Saving..." message with the Evernote app on MacOS Ventura 13.5. While it's saving, it only displays a blank page. I don't think it's a delay/upload issue as some documents create before/after are unaffected. This happens at work and my home network. It's intermittent, as some notes are unaffected, but I can leave Evernote open for hours and the note stays at "Saving...". Any suggestions?

I opened a ticket for this, the instructions I received that resolved the problem were:

    Quote
    1. Sign out of your account.
    2. Restart your computer.
    3. Sign back in to Evernote.

For what it's worth, I didn't reboot my mac and I did remove downloaded data when I signed out so I had to download everything again.

    To add on Scott's point:
There are two components to this.

    1. [Expected] The migration of the note from the previous format to the new RTE format will take ~1s for the vast majority of notes. Up to a few seconds for the biggest notes. This only happens the very first time a note is opened in a RTE client (if it was previously created by a non-RTE client).
    2. [The actual issue] In the last couple of days the backend had auto-scaling issues (it should have scaled at higher traffic and it didn't, de facto slowing down all note conversions at peak hours).
This means that conversion is slower than it should for the time being. The team's highest priority is to solve this and it should get back to normal soon.

This is really great information, it would of been useful to know about the potential for delay caused by number 1 in advance - I might not have done a clean installation over the weekend...

There is another thread with this observation: When prior a note export took place, the client becomes laggy. To solve this, it needs to be restarted.

Maybe you can try if this is the issue. It would point at certain functions in the client that cause the problem.

Edit: I’m on the fly, can’t look it up.

Not exporting so I don't think that's it.

Fast editing is lovely but no good if notes take ages to load...

  5. Forwarded an email to my evernote account yesterday (my sync had already been upgraded).

The note didn't appear in my default notebook for some time - I eventually gave up and restarted the app.

Restart hung for a couple of minutes so I got bored and killed it.

App started fine on the second attempt, but the new note was still not present in my default notebook.

Changed to a different notebook and then returned to default and the note appeared.

    Running the latest mac client.

This works, but it is fairly easy to accidentally add the link back in - eg by adding a space or enter after the link.

I didn't promise it was perfect, the OP asked for a solution to an issue and I provided an option, it's also pretty clear if a link has been added in error and just as easy to unlink again.

User error can ***** up lots of things across lots of applications.

Geez, guess I gotta come up from outta the weeds to comment on this news. :)

So, longtime, since 2008 -- and still current -- Evernote user, ex- forum busybody (when you post count's in the 5 digit range, sometimes you need to assess where your time's going). Anyway, I take this news with equanimity. Acquisitions aren't necessarily all bad, nor do they mean that the acquirer will necessarily change the acquiree's overall strategy / focus (i.e., speaking to the fears that Bending Spoon's iOS's predilection will necessarily harm Evernote's Android progress).

My experience: I work for a 20+ year-old software development company that had its roots as a niche producer of software to perform mapping coordinate conversions. The original company kept chugging along at a relatively low level of growth, with a small number of employees, but eventually the founder wanted to pursue other goals, so sold the company to a 3rd party. That was fine, but the new owners wanted to grow more aggressively, and started looking for some other company to acquire, in the same realm of mapping. They found a very small (single person) but highly regarded general mapping company, and negotiated to buy it. The product that this company offered had overlap with that of the original company, but was otherwise much larger in scope, and hence had more potential for growth (note that this was a couple of years before I joined, nearly 10 years ago). Since then, they've continued to grow their original product, and add new staff -- including me -- by about 6- or 7-fold -- still a small company in the grand scheme of things -- and also grow the acquired product to the point where it's now the major revenue producer for us by far. Oh, and they kept on the original owner

Moral: not all acquisitions are for the purposes of gutting the acquiree for talent in order to improve ones' current offerings. Sometimes the idea is to find a company that is going to help you to grow into new markets with new technology, which hopefully has synergy with your current line.

The above being said; I had never heard of Bending Spoons or their products (and missed the reference, too), and the scale of my experience is smaller than that of the Evernote acquisition, but hey, maybe some good Italian espresso will help things along for the Evernote crew. I wish them all well.

I mean that's obviously way too long to read but I'm very happy that @jefitois still alive!!!

Then you are wrong with EN. The whole idea behind the master copy on the EN cloud server is to take this task away from you, giving you as a user the chance to focus on your content, not on operating a note / document software.

If you want to take responsibility, you can get a server, connect it to the internet, make sure it is accessible and at the same time safe, install NextCloud or run a proprietary solution like Synology Note Station, etc. It is no one time job, you will have to permanently dedicate some time for admin jobs. But you have your data, and you take full responsibility.

Or in shorter words: You can’t have an omelette AND the eggs.

And you are so wrong, horribly so.

You can take advantage of all the great stuff that Evernote does and still be responsible for your own data. You can still back up as often as you like.

Be a grown up, take responsibility.

Why is this even an argument?
