I'm having this exact same issue with Evernote 10.33.4-mac-ddl-public (3285) on a M1 MBP running macOS 12.2.

It's very annoying as I am a longtime Premium user and have many years' worth of scanned PDFs in there and depend on Evernote as filing system for my personal and professional life.

Since this affects multiple users, is there an open issue that Evernote is actively addressing?

Thanks for validating my concern. I have not heard anything from Evernote since I put in my service request awhile ago. I'm also a longtime Premium user. I though switched my work computer back to an old Evernote so I wouldn't know if the problem was addressed.

  2. I opened up my Evernote Android and it says the last change on a note was Feb 7, even though I have made many changes since then. I have had this happen before, and I log out and then log in. But I shouldn't have to do this every time. Anyone else have this issue?

The reason I wanted to look at a note right now is because on the PC web app, I keep trying to edit a note and it doesn't save any of my edits.

  3. I have not opened a ticket yet. Opening tickets with Evernote is so frustrating because there are so many automated responses asking me to make videos, screenshots, etc, only to be told they are aware of the situation and have no ETA on it being resolved. I believe you've supported me on the bullets not pasting in order, and each time I go through the same thing. That's why I thought I'd check with others here first.

I did go on my account settings, and as far as I can tell, Evernote is not connected to my Google. I also checked on my work phone, permissions, and Evernote 10 does not have permission to access my calendar. But if I can't solve this in the next day or so, I'll try removing Evernote 10 from my work phone and see if that resolves it.

Its things like this that make me seriously consider dropping evernote. scores of updates and notifications that lower the productivity one’s trying to raise.

I definitely would, but I just don't know a good replacement. I use OneNote at work, but I still find Evernote better for searching and finding things. Part of my anger at Evernote is that I depend on it so much, which speaks to why it is good.

I had the same problem, again v. 8.13.3 of the app (since v. 10 is not available for Android 9). I found that I had to disconnect Google Calendar from my Evernote account, in the account settings. Evidently they just made this feature available for version 10 of the app, and somehow it magically applies to older versions that have no ability to control it.

When you said you disconnected Google Calendar from your Evernote account, which platform did you do that on? The web platform, the desktop windows, or something else? And on which version of Evernote? The reason I ask is because I have Evernote 10 on my work phone, Evernote 8.3 on my personal phone, and both ever notes on my Windows computer.

  6. I'm now getting an Evernote notification for every item on my calendar (e.g. Daughter 1 swimming, Daughter 2 dance). I don't want this. How do I turn it off? My Evernote is NOT synced with Google calendar. I've tried clicking on the three dots in my Calendar widget in Evernote 10 on my work Android and Evernote 10 on my computer, but still getting this alert on my personal Android running Evernote 8 and work Android running Evernote 10.

  7. It's just sad you can't take something in Word, the leading word processor, and paste it into Evernote and trust it will be the same.

Here's what Evernote Support just said:

Thank you for taking the time to reach back out.

I understand that you'd like an update surrounding the issue you're experiencing with copying and pasting content from Microsoft Word into Evernote.

I wanted to reach out and let you know that this issue is still open with engineering. I sincerely apologize for the interruption to your workflow and I can assure you that our engineering team is working to prioritize this issue for resolution.

If there's any additional feedback you'd like to provide, or if there's anything else I can do to improve your experience with Evernote, please let me know. I'm here to help.

If a firewall is blocking something, it is done by design, the admin or supplier of its blocking database. Your comment of EN being faulty is plain nonsense. If you are in software yourself, you should know better.

There are especially in companies firewalls that don’t work by a blacklist (known offenders locked out), but by a whitelist. Then every app that wants to run on that network or device and connect to the internet needs to be preallowed. No permit, no use.

Bad for ransomware (hopefully), and it stops the use of private software on company resources as well.

Which it seems in your case has worked pretty well, seen from the company perspective. So if your admin does not like you enough to allow your app wish in, don‘t blame others.

Evernote 6.25, no problem, Evernote 10, problem. At my last job, where there was a lot of security, they blocked all syncing of Evernote while I was at work, and blocked access to the Evernote website and even these forums. At my current job, they don't block any of this. Yet Evernote 10 seems to have a problem.

I don't actually develop software but am involved from a medical perspective when they are released for medical applications.Y es, Evernote is faulty in the way versions are released with bugs they may or may not fix promptly, and adding or taking feature out with no warning. This would not be allowed for medical applications.

Glad to hear you are getting them to duplicate the issue.  I went nowhere with my attempt to get support (and I am a Premium user).  I hope you get an answer we can both use.  I'm starting to explore alternatives.  I have already started using Apple Notes for a lot of stuff, and I'm looking into Notion and OneNote.

Frankly, if Evernote was working properly, it would still be my tool of choice.

Yes, it very much bothers me that Evernote does not work properly. On that work computer, I have dropped back to Evernote 6, which I mostly like better. The only thing I liked better on Evernote 10 was that they had fixed the problem of pasting bulleted text, until that problem came back, and you don't have to type "tag:" to search for a tag.

I work in the field of software that is used with medical devices and healthcare. You can't have software like this where you release it and it may or may not work, not when it is used for people's health and safety. Also, see this article on Harvard Business Review and see if you can relate: https://hbr.org/2021/11/4-common-ways-companies-alienate-people-with-disabilities?utm_source=pocket_mylist

  10. Tech Support replied to me today that they have been able to duplicate the issue, but are still trying to find the cause. They are not sure if it is network or not.

This is good for Evernote to know because it affects if people can use it at work or not. If it requires Evernote be granted permissions through a Firewall, then Evernote knows they have to improve their reputation a bit (stop releasing buggy software).

It all sounds like there is an interference with something specific to your work computer. I doubt we can find it by remote analysis.

The reason I think it is Evernote is because it is not such a big problem with Evernote 6.

I'm back home now, and it's random as to which notes it affects and which it doesn't. My wife scanned 3 pieces of artwork that our kids did today. One of them says unreadable, the other 2 I can read. I scanned my kids tests before signing them today, they look good.

Anyhows, I was successfully able to install Evernote 6 on my work computer, so I will proceed to uninstall Evernote 10.

Aaah, but here's the other problem. Every attachment I attempted to open on my work computer is now corrupted on EVERY computer. So I need to restore them from Note History.

  12. Not just PDFs. I can't even open JPGs.

The reason I keep the Windows version on my work computer is it is just easier and quicker to search, and also, Send a Copy by E-mail if I need to send an article to someone that I just clipped (which doesn't exist on the Web version).

I think I will drop back down to the 6.25 version on my work computer. On my home computer, I have both versions because there are aspects of both that I like.

  13. If I save it from Evernote Windows onto my work computer, it does not open. It says it is corrupted.

However, if I save it from Evernote Web, it opens fine.

From a security perspective, it seems the latter would be riskier, but they allow it, whereas the former wouldn't be. It almost seems like Evernote for Windows is corrupting the file. But how?

  14. On my work computer, most of my PDFs say "Couldn't display this PDF file." If I try to open it, it corrupts the file. The attachments are fine on Evernote web, and on my other computers, using both Evernote 6 and Evernote 10. But just on my work computer.

I wonder if it may have something to do with where the files are stored. Maybe I don't have complete access rights? With Evernote 6, I'd sometimes get error messages that it couldn't find the attachment, until I clicked it a few times. However, here, it's a real problem where I cannot access the attachment unless I download it first (if I try to open it first, then it is corrupted).

This issue was fixed back in v10.7 or thereabouts.  It seems to have returned. Thanks to @ghon for the heads up workaround.

    I've raised a support ticket.

Thanks for the work around. I will try it out. I also raised a support ticket and they asked me to make a new video of it and provide all this information (all of which took me a long time before). But thank you to you two for acknowledging this issue.

  16. Unfortunately, it was bringing my entire Evernote system down. I feared corrupting it and losing Evernote, which I depend on heavily so carefully removed every task from that note, and then deleted the note. I'll have to work on it another time when I am able to make regular backups of Evernote.

Over the weekend, I initially liked Tasks. However, I also run an older copy of Evernote on my computer too, and can see Tasks doesn't work with it. And my fear of corrupting the Evernote. I also see that Tasks doesn't work for my wife, who has a free subscription. I currently use Any.do for personal tasks and will consider whether or not to switch to Evernote.

I use Microsoft To-Do for work, which is the best.

  17. I tried to see if putting my grocery list as a set of tasks would work, and I'm having problems. The note was previously a checklist. I replaced every checkist item by Inserting a Task right there. Then I checked it off. The idea is that if I need an item, I will UNCHECK it, causing it to then appear in the Tasks area.

However, after doing that, it keeps on its own unchecking items. Maybe I have too many? And the Tasks bar shows many, many duplicates, many of them unchecked. It's like it can't handle so many tasks.

  18. I really, really like Microsoft To Do at work. What I like is that I can add tasks to My Day, but then they all disappear from My Day the next day. So I can start all over determining what is important and adding to my Day.

With Evernote Tasks, I can do that with flags. Would be great if there was a way to then clear all flags (like a new day).

  19. I find interacting with Evernote to be a frustrating experience. For example, on issue that still isn't resolved after many months is pasting a combination of bulleted text and non-bulleted text from Word to Evernote for Windows 10. They respond in an inconherent way, and keep asking the questions that are apparent in the screens shots and videos I send. After all that time going back and forth, they tell me they don't have a timeline to resolve.
