  1. Luckily, my IT Desk folks are reasonable. They told me today that Evernote was originally blocked on the Corporate network, but people provided justifications so they unblocked it. They want me to write a couple sentences to justify unblocking it on the guest network, and indicated it would likely work. So let me do that and be set. They also gave me an URL I can use instead to get on evernote.com, but that wouldn't work on the Android App.

  2. The problem I'm having with the web client has been reported before where a PDF attachment looks like just plain text of the file name. It has to do with whether the note is HTML or not. If one can break the HTML, which I think I can do with the Windows client, v10, then it is possible. I reported it when I did the beta testing, and created a thread for it, but it hasn't been resolved.

Unfortunately, I think the blocking of it is from my own company, and only on the guest network. I can't even get on these forums on the guest network. But I can with the corporate network as I am now. I can't use my company laptop to access the PDF because it is accessing via the web client. Similarly, my work phone doesn't have Evernote installed (and we are supposed to stay on the guest network with our work phones).

  3. Today, on my 2 Android devices (tablet and phone) which are connected to my employer's guest network, I'm getting an error that Evernote is not connected to the Internet. Further, when I try to go to evernote.com, Chrome blocks me claiming my connection is not private. Dropbox and other sites work fine. When I switched my tablet to tether off of my work phone, then Evernote worked. Meanwhile, my company laptop on the corporate network can access Evernote.com fine.

The issue is that I can't access the contents of one of my PDF files on Evernote Web, so I'm trying to access it on my Android devices.

At my previous job, my employer blocked everything, even on the guest networks. In my current job of 1.5 years, the company is much more open. I have regularly used the Evernote on my personal phone and personal tablet at work, using the guest network. And no problems accessing Evernote Web via the corporate network. For 1.5 years, and as recently as before the holidays.

Any thoughts on why Evernote may not be working on my company's guest network? I doubt they are blocking it since evernote.com works on the company's corporate network, and Dropbox and other cloud services are working fine, and it was working 3 weeks ago. As well the history of Evernote always breaking things.

  4. I was a beta test user and expressed my disappointment many times about it. Sorry folks. I am running both versions. What I like about the new version is I can paste from Word better. And the search is better. But I miss the tag organization and the Send a Copy by E-mail. Even though I have 6.25 installed, I can't seem to get the Outlook web clipper to work. But maybe I need to reinstall it.

  5. I was a beta tested and was very disappointed. The only thing I liked about it is that I can paste a bulleted document from Word into Evernote without the format going hayfire. I also think the search does a better job.

I miss seeing the tag organization. I missed especially the Send a Copy which I posted so many times about on the beta. I miss import folders. I miss many other things that I can't remember. I tried as a beta tested to convey my feedback. But I'm not wasting my time beta testing android.

Luckily, it is possible to have two Evernotes on your computer. So I have Version 6.25 for most of my stuff and Version 10 for pasting notes from Word.

  6. When I paste text from Word without bullets, Evernote preserves the blank lines in between paragraphs. However, when I paste text from Word that had bullets, all the blank lines go away and the paragraphs are all adjacent to each other which doesn't look nice. I've seen a number of problems over the years related to bulleted text from Word, and wanted to know if this was now fixed or is still an issue.

Pasting text and loosing formatting (code syntax highlighting) in Evernote has annoyed me for years.

So today I decided to try this out and it worked nicely:

In Windows 10 click on the "Search Icon"  and type “(MS product name here)” into the search box. Alternatively, click/tap on the microphone icon in Cortana’s search field and say “Launch (MS product name here)”.

Press Ctrl+v to copy the text into a new note.  It will paste the text with its current formatting!!

Not sure I understood how to do this that Robbb said.

Hello all, I had exactly the same issue. But later on I found out that we can get around this problem by "selecting & dragging" the source file into your EN's editing page instead of "selecting +copy & paste".

    cheers,

My issue is that I have manual breaks to create space between my paragraphs in Word. When I copy to Evernote without bullets, the line spacing remains. When I copy text from Word with bullets, all the blank lines between paragraphs disappear. Even with this technique.

  9. I'm on the market for a new computer. My two biggest applications are Quicken and Evernote. I have about 10,000 notes. I am often clipping notes and cleaning them up. Other than that, I use my computer for E-mail, Internet, Word, Powerpoint, a little Excel, a little statistical software, and that's about it. But I use it A LOT. My computer is my key productivity tool.

I currently have a Thinkpad Yoga and my last two work computers have been Thinkpad (current one is T480S).

Given my usage of Evernote, should I buy the lower pricing Ideapad that is more for home use, or stick with a Thinkpad. I already get upset when Evernote releases a version that does't perform, so I'd hate if the computer couldn't handle it. Would like perspective of others who have used Evernote on an Ideapad.

  10. Does the new version of Web Client have this feature yet? Whenever I need to Send a Copyo of a Note to someone, I always have to drop down to the older version, fill out the survey why (where I keep telling them this), and then Share, E-mail to send a note by E-mail. I just want to make sure I have not somehow missed this feature in the Classic or Beta versions of Evernote Web. Lack of this is the only thing I don't like about the Classic version.

  11. I have a number of ENEX files (no tags) on external hard drives that are rather large (~2 GB) that I'd like to pull together to create one big searchable Evernote, on the web. On the web, because it will likely be too big for my computer's hard drive. And probably with a different E-mail address so it is separate from my main Evernote account.

Any suggestions on how to go about creating it given that Evernote Web does not have importing of ENEX as a capability, and the limited space on my hard drive. I thought about importing each ENEX, one at a time, into my main account, perhaps sharing the notebook with the other account, then going into the other account in Windows and copying it over to a non-shared notebook, and then deleting the shared one, flipping back in Windows to the other account, and so forth (which may or not may work). Or perhaps going into my preferences to change the Evernote directory to the external hard for a short time while I do this. Or something else.

Any suggestions on how to do this? Essentially importing into an Evernote account with minimal use of hard disk space.
