simple fix that I found elsewhere and worked for me: Change windows sound settings to Windows default. No one seems to know why, but it worked for many - the error seems to occur not just with Evernote.

I carefully watched all the videos, and read the blogs. Excited about the New Evernote. Then I discovered import folders was not implemented. Inexplicable. And that was 6 months ago! I have been waiting since. I recently read updated blogs. Same hype-like stuff about wonderful features. I did not know I was being hyped at first, but now the whole project is cheapened because the performance just does not match the hype, ESPECIALLY THE INABILITY TO RESTORE IMPORT FOLDERS, which seems to be a major issue for many power users, certainly including me, who has used Evernote since 2015, use it daily, and have more than 10000 notes. Sure I can (and do) use the legacy version. But then all the fancy hype about all the great new features makes me feel cheated. And that is how I feel. Cheated. WHEN WILL IMPORT FOLDERS BE RESTORED???
