  1. I managed to install Legacy version of Evernote as well (v 6.25.2.9198), and that actually lets me edit the web clipped note while preserving the layout more or less. It's not perfect, but it preserves the layout better than OneNote or Joplin, so I wonder why Evernote has made that functionality worse in v10 instead of improving it. As a side note, backupping notes is not too simple with Evernote (if you want that to happen automatically, that is). I managed to set up a sync to Google Drive using cloudHQ which saves all my notes in GoogleDrive both in database format AND PDF (it's great to have backups in readable format as well just in case). However, Joplin has built-in functionality to sync to NAS drive for example, which I think is always better as I don't have to rely on third party services. From NAS I can backup again to Google Drive, for example for maximum safety. I guess I need to think about which software suits me best and what kind of layout regarding webpage imports is enough for me.
  2. Hello! I have just found the note taking programs (not sure how I have evaded them for this long) and I am trying to find The Best one. Unfortunately there are lots of them, but for me, it would need to clip web pages so that they keep the layout AND so that I could edit them (for example, remove unneeded parts from the middle etc) as well. So far I have tried three: Evernote, Microsoft OneNote and Joplin. Neither of these seem to work perfectly. OneNote: The only way to keep the layout is to clip the whole page, and then you cannot edit it anymore in OneNote. the clipper at least in Chrome is very buggy. Currently I cannot clip the whole page at all. Joplin: Doesn't keep the layout but you can edit the clipped page easily. Evernote: The best web clipper out of those three, BUT you cannot edit the clipped page in Evernote. "Simplify and make editable" breaks the whole layout. I understand that this worked fine in older versions though? This might be the wrong forum to ask, but is there any other note taking software that actually clips web pages, keeps the layout AND lets the user edit that clipped note?
  3. Yeah, now that you said it, it makes perfect sense why that won't work. That could lead into safety problems... However, would be nice if I could save the map locally and then the note page in Evernote would point into that map file (and location on that map) when I hover over different map coordinate links
  4. Thanks for the tip about that software. I was thinking of different Evernote use cases for me, and one of them was combining several wikipedia "map pages" like that for one big note so I wouldn't have to keep several tabs open on my browser, but I guess as the functionality of the web page breaks in the process, Evernote is not meant for that kind of thing. I can see it being handy in many other cases though Thanks for help @gazumped!
  5. That could work yes, except the webpage highlights the coordinate on map, based on which coordinate your mouse is... Like in this page (walkthrough & notes section): https://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Quest:Lost_Lore_of_the_Great_Alliance I guess that's not something that Evernote or any other software like it can do though.
  6. Thanks for answer, that's what I feared. In my case I would save the wikipedia page that lists several different coordinates in a game, and then the tooltip opens up a map that shows where those coordinates are in that map.
  7. Hello, a new user here! I tried to use web clipper to save a webpage, but it seems that it doesn't save "tooltips" (or what are those called) even when I chose "Whole page" in web clipper. Here's an example wikipedia page with one tooltip (Gaelic football) open: In Evernote, if I hover mouse over that link, all I see is "Gaelic football" in tooltip. I would like to see the same picture as in original webpage, so is this possible with Evernote? Or, if it's not, is there any other software like Evernote that can save those tooltips as well?
