  1. Yes, I would and I actually do every day. It is really like a real writing pad. A white paper and a pen - what do you need more? All the additional functionalities of other note taking apps are needed because of the problems with those finger-like pens. E. g. why would anyone need a zoom functionality on a normal paper with a normal pen?
  2. I think this thread is about handwriting. Evernote is perfect for taking notes via handwriting - but ONLY on the iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil. Works great - unless a full page of handwritten notes was lost because Evernote had not saved it.
  3. Now there was an update, but there is still no saving in the background! You have to close the handwriting panel in order to save it. That's just not feasible. In a meeting you don't want to constantly close and re-open your notes every minute just to make sure your notes are not lost. Could someone from Evernote please notice that this is a serious issue that needs to be addressed?
  4. I would say handwriting is pretty useless on the other iOS devices, because there is no useable pen. These pens are all just artificial fingers. I own nearly all (Adonit, Bamboo, etc.), but none felt like a real pen. Apple Pencil is the first useable handwriting device for the iPad.But anyway, without an automatic save functionality, it is not useable in Evernote anyhow. I hope they come up with a fix to this very soon.
  5. Handwriting in Evernote is really made for the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. No need for palm rejection or zoom, it is just perfect as it is with Apple Pencil. BUT there is a huge issue: The new drawing screen is not automatically saved in the background! You have to close the screen manually to get the content saved. I lost a whole page of notes because my screen locked and after I unlocked the iPad Evernote was shut down (maybe iOS ended it or it crashed, I don't know). None of the notes I took over 20 minutes were saved!
  6. Several months and versions later and the search is still not working! Why don't you remove the search button from the Apple Watch button until you figure out a way how to make it actually work?
  7. Yes, same with me. Is there anybody with a working search in Evernote on the Apple Watch? I don't think it works at all. Would be nice to get an official statement that it is broken in the current version and they are working on a quick fix. BTW: I can't create a support ticket. The button "Ticket einreichen" (submit ticket) does not work.
  8. Well, as nobody (especially from Evernote) is commenting on the topic of problems with the new background sync, I guess we can stay off-topic ... The main difference is that the iOS version is always syncing immediately and not "every 5 minutes" or whatever. So normally the immediately automatic syncing should be faster than even thinking about pressing a sync button. BTW: A "save" button is unknown in most iOS apps. Everything should be saved immediately according to Apples guidelines for apps.
  9. It's off topic, but here you go: Menu (the elephant in upper left corner) -> Your name (upper left corner) -> Sync now This is only for forcing sync. The normal sync is done automatically.
  10. I am not sure how you will manage to do this without a premium account to enable offline storage on the device. Without an active Wifi connection Evernote on your iPad will only have the headers of the notes and not the actual notes and attached files.
  11. In order to have an updated version of the note, the iOS app needs to sync to the Evernote server, so yes, syncing is involved. The poster to whom I was responding said that they were putting the phone in airplane mode "because I noticed that Evernote does a sync when I launch the app". Putting the phone into Airplane mode is not necessary to accomplish that. That's a misunderstanding. He did this because otherwise his test would have been difficult. Because Evernote does a sync when launched the app, you can't really see if the updated note was just synced or five minuted ago while being in the background. To prevent syncing at launch he turned on airplane mode.
  12. So maybe it's related to this. All my notebooks are configured to be offline available.
  13. Are you sure you understand what this thread is about? It is not about forcing syncs or getting the usual functionality. It's about getting updates of your notes in the background while the app is closed, so you always have all the updated notes ready on your iPhone or iPad, even if you sit on an airplane and you hadn't used Evernote on this device the weeks before.
  14. Interesting, didn't work for me. Are your notebooks configured to be available offline (premium)?
  15. Yes, everything is turned on. So I take the answer as "it should work". There are actually people out there for who the background sync in Evernote works? Interesting. I asked in a German forum and I could not find anyone who could confirm this. In which intervals should the background update happen in Evernote?
  16. This thread is somehow messed up. It should be ONLY about problems with background sync, the new feature of iOS 7. Every other problems with sync (no sync at all, sync works only manually) should be in other threads. Does background sync work for anybody in Evernote? Background sync means: You add new notes in Evernote on the Mac, you open Evernote on the iPad (it was completely closed before) and all added new notes are already there even without a current online connection because the sync happened before in the background. For me this new feature of Evernote never worked.
  17. Okay, I managed to get the plugin back after manually deleting everything related to Evernote on the PC (all files, all entries in the Windows registry) and re-installing Evernote. There seems to be something messed up in the current Windows installer of Evernote.
  18. Help! After the new update to 5.0.1 the Outlook plugin is gone. I tried re-installing Evernote and restarting of the PC, but nothing works. System: Windows XP, Outlook 2010.
  19. Did you try the file I sent you a link to? This "large" file couldn't be handled and created a loop of copies in Skitch.
  20. I think the most important aspect in comparison with PDF Expert (and GoodReader and Adobe Reader and Documents by Readdle and ...) should be that annotations are saved in the standard PDF way, so they are usable in all other apps. So in short: Just let us annotate PDFs within Evernote like it is standard in any other PDF viewer these days.
  21. I sent you a private message with activity log and a link to a demo file. The bug seems to be related to the kind of PDF file (size? complexity?).
  22. As I said, I use this in iOS only (iPad). And I really think this behavior is related to the buggy iOS versions of Evernote and Skitch. Did you reproduce what I described EXACTLY on an iPad? I am pretty sure this always happens for everyone with this configuration and the current app versions. This sounds like you're running into a sync bug. Can you send me your activity log to me in a private message? This may help us diagnose the problem. See the image below for directions:
  23. There seems to be a serious problem with Skitch on iOS and the PDF functionality: If you open a PDF from Evernote in Skitch, annotate something, save it and switch back to Evernote, there will be two new documents in the Skitch notebook. If you switch back to Skitch, these two documents are shown additional to the already created one, so you have three files in the Skitch notebook. Another switch to Evernote again creates new copies and so on. You have to delete all copies in Evernote to stop this loop madness. But even if the new PDF functionality would work (I am just speaking of iOS, I don't use it on any other systems), the whole workflow is very cumbersome. An annotated PDF should stay at its position (Evernote notebook) and not be copied to a special notebook (Skitch). I don't mind switching apps for annotating, but this should be seamlessly without working with different copies and notebooks. It still seems to be a long way to a real integration of Skitch (and Penultimate) in the Evernote experience.
  24. This problem is related to the new Windows version and NOT to the Firefox add-on! As I said, the Outlook plugin is also broken. You could release a fix for Evernote Windows without an approval process, right?
  25. The Outlook button gives also an error message. Obviously the Windows version 4.6 messed up the Evernote background service. Please fix this faulty version asap or give us a link to the old - perfectly working - version.
