+ 1 for having this feature implemented.

I use the hyperlinking to files using "file://..." and would also like this feature reinstated. Additionally I use Zotero as a reference manager. In my evernote note on a paper, I will include a zotero link, so in one click I can get it open in Zotero. Like "file://...", this also doesn't work in version 10 (see below), however works in legacy. When fixing the issue with hyperlinking files, could you please remove the restrictions on using other links like these? I imagine this would be useful for other programs that also have a url callback scheme like this.
