I am still reading this thread, it has become very long. Apologies if I have missed this earlier (I'm still reading and will finish it)

I am NOT opposed to upgrading (I've had legacy and a current version on my computer for years at this point). Alot of bashing for those of us who liked the Legacy UI :( Disappointing as I'm just a simple user trying to get my work done. I've got no ego, just tryna work.

Is there a way to see more notes in the same space? Here is what I am seeing, and I don't fully understand what I am missing...

I took two screenshots with two different zoom levels. Font is small, and super small, and both zoom levels don't show very many notes in screen.

    Short answer: No.

Longer answer: The redesign introduced a new… we'll call it 'opinion'… on how much white space/padding each note gets. As you're seeing, each note now takes up more space than it used to, even in earlier builds of Evernote 10. I'm afraid that there's not much more you can do (I suppose you could try zooming out by pressing Cmd-minus to zoom out further, but that can result in some insanely small text. If you're on Twitter/𝕏 and think it might help, a lot of the folks from Bending Spoons are pretty active on it.

I hope that helps! Sorry that I don't have a better answer for you.

    Sometimes I wonder....

... Are you guys actually using the Evernote product,

    or

just experts of the Evernote forum.

With number that high it seems like a full time job,

    or

A hobby that consumes a lot of your time.

    Do you do anything else?

    walk a dog,

make dinner for your special some one?

    Hike?

    Man get a f**king Life.

I sure hope I'm actually using the Evernote product, because there are 15000+ notes in my account.
Plus, I do other stuff like walk my dog, and make dinner for my special someones.

    But no hiking.

Maybe that's where I went wrong?

Hi, I can't use my software Evernote on my Mac. It asks me to update my software but when I try to do it it doesn't work it asks me to update direct form the web.

When I try to do it this way the software  doesn't want to open so I can't success to update it :(
Do you have any idea to fix it?

Can't even contact Evernote to have help 😕

    Thanks

That sounds like you are running an older version of macOS. Which version of the OS are you using?

When you say you can't move existing ones, where would I move them? You mean from one notebook to another?

What's a local note? She hasn't responded back yet to tell me.

Ok, so you are saying my notes will still be on the free plan, I just can't add more, & is that on desktop too, or just on web?

    • Moving notes = moving them from the notebook they are in to a different one.
    • Local note = this is a legacy thing, where they're not stored on Evernote servers. Evernote moved away from this concept with Evernote 10 so that things are simplified (if the notes are in Evernote, they are in the cloud).
    • Free plan = You can log in with 2 of any combination of the following devices: Mac, PC, Web browser, iOS or Android.

While you're waiting on Support, I highly recommend this article with answers to a lot of these questions: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/23565231682323-Note-and-notebook-limits-in-Evernote-Free-December-2023

  5. I don't use an Android tablet

    According to Google:

To use add-ins in Outlook on Android, you can do the following:
    1. Install the Microsoft Outlook app from the Play Store
    2. Log in to your account
    3. Tap the Settings cog in the top right
    4. Scroll down to the Connected Apps and Add-ins section
    5. Tap Add-ins
    6. Tap the + sign next to the add-ins you want to enable

Add-ins for Outlook on Android are only available when reading email. They can't be activated when composing messages or viewing or composing appointments.

Thanks for sticking with me on this.  Oddly, when I click on Outlook.com and log in, I do not see where I can access the add-ins.  I am using a Samsung android tablet, but routinely use the Outlook client.

I tried to enter a ticket with Support, but the response has been that the Support function is being reorganized (or something to that effect) and I am encouraged to check back later.

    Rick

No worries — I don't use Android myself, but I can attempt to assist you.

As for where the addins are located in the web version of Outlook, please refer to this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/using-add-ins-in-outlook-on-the-web-8f2ce816-5df4-44a5-958c-f7f9d6dabdce

I hope that helps! If I can be of additional assistance, let me know.

  7. Make sure you're installing the Evernote add-in from the add-in ‘store’ that's under the Tools menu:

Search for Evernote in the search box and it ought to allow you to install it from there. I use it daily, and it works great in both New and Classic Outlook (although if I recall correctly, they are separate apps, so if you switch between them, you'd have to install it on both New and Classic Outlook).

So I tried the new version, which doesn't see my local notebooks.

How do I get to / export all the local notebooks from the legacy version?

All my important stuff is in there!!

Correct — Evernote 10.x only uses the cloud, and does not use local storage. Your best bet is to install Evernote Legacy and export them from there:

I'm running Skitch for Mac Version 2.9 (265153)

I recently upgraded to MacOS 14.2.1 and I can no longer annotate with text.  Arrows still work fine but if I add even one word of text and hit the sync button or gallery button, the app instantly crashes.  It happens every single time.  I have tried killing and restarting Evernote and Skitch, and rebooting.  Nothing helps.  I don't want to delete the app to reinstall because it does not look like you can still download the app from Evernote.  Is Skitch for Mac still supported by Evernote?  If not, that would be particularly sad.  It was a wildly popular app, and my team was the one who created it in Austin.

    Rich

To put a finer point on things,  Evernote hasn't discontinued Skitch for Mac, but they also haven't put any love into it for a long time. Right now Bending Spoons is focused on bringing stability and a new interface to the main Evernote product.

That said, as long as you're using the Mac App Store version of Skitch, it should work (I use it myself on macOS 14.2.1 and can attest that it's working just fine).

Are you using a standalone version of Skitch, or the one from the Mac App Store?

You need at least MacOS 10.14 Monterrey

FYI, Monterey is version 12.0, not 10.14.

Unfortunately, Evernote 7.11 is the latest version that will run under Sierra. If you're able to upgrade to macOS 10.13 High Sierra, you'll be able to run the newer 7.14.1 — which is still able to work.

Hello: Skitch is crashing whenever I click on the "curved arrows" to save screenshot to Evernote. I attempted to follow Macfixer's advice (deleted Skitch, downloaded Mac App Store version, reauthorized Security & Privacy options) and it still crashes. I am running Mac OS 14.0 (23A344). Skitch is the ONLY reason that I haven't cancelled Evernote yet...

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Hmm… for some reason I checked the box to 'follow' this thread, but apparently never got these updates.
Some stuff I should have mentioned in my above instructions (sorry!):

    - There is a background process, "J8RPQ294UB.com.skitch.SkitchHelper" - you used to have to allow list this in order for Skitch to work properly. This doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Make sure any references to it in Privacy & Security are removed.

    - Also, earlier, when I mentioned removing all mentions of Skitch from Privacy & Security, it was so that the Mac App Store version of Skitch could prompt for the access it needs. It's going to put entries back in, and you should allow those. I apologize for any confusion.

    - Since it appears to crash when you are manually syncing, log out and then back in — this may be an issue with an authentication token.

    - Finally, since you are a paying customer (you are a paying customer, right?), you are entitled to support. Reach out and let them help. Be prepared for a delay.

  12. Hello!

Skitch is still hanging on for me, and I am on macOS 14 Sonoma. The trick for me was:

    • Install the Mac App Store version, not the standalone version (the direct download link is for an older version, if I recall correctly).
    • If Skitch (or it's background processes) are running, quit them. The easiest way to do this is to go to the Skitch icon in the menu bar, click on it and choose "Quit Skitch"
    • Go through the various Privacy & Security panes and remove any Skitch entries.
    • Relaunch Skitch, and you should be prompted for access to screen recording again. If it does not prompt you, attempting to take a screenshot with Skitch ought to prompt you.
    • Allow the system to record the screen, and quit & relaunch when prompted.

I hope that helps! If I can be of additional assistance, let me know.

p.s.: I took a screenshot of the About This Mac window in Skitch, it works!

Another kind of workaround could be to use AutoHotKey ot TextExpander to create the tasks.

You could load a task free template up in EN and then insert the tasks using an AHK or TE shortcut command. Can't set dates but the tasks would be there.

I'll play around with TextExpander and see if I can make something happen.

    What a great idea!
