  1. I got the notice that Evernote 7.1 beta 1 was available for Mac. I clicked the button to install it, and when I was prompted for an admin user name and password, I hit cancel (i haven't had my coffee yet) — and it installed anyway!

Which makes me wonder: what exactly does the admin username and password do, if not entering it will install it regardless?

    MacBook Pro 15"
    macOS 10.12.6 (16G1212)

Is this a Sparkle bug? A macOS bug? An Evernote bug?

  2. If "Enable code block" is enabled in Evernote's preferences (it's located under Software Update), then just type 3 backticks (` or the symbol underneath the tilde key ~ ) and a box will form in your note. If you then paste the code into that box, it will preserve the formatting in plain text.

I hope that helps! Let me know if I can be of additional assistance.Code_Block.png.b1accafcffc120ac795010ddde49e50a.png

I'm a student at Uni and regularly import Lecture PDF's into Evernote for organisation. In Powerpoint, on individual slides it is possible to add notes on the bottom of each slide. I was wondering if this was also possible in Evernote, to make written notes on individual pages of a PDF (not annotate it).

    Are you a Premium user?

  4. If I may pile onto this complaint, when the sidebar is expanded, you can right-click on the Trash icon and choose "Empty Trash":

However, if you collapse the sidebar, those options are no longer available. There is, in fact, no way to empty the trash with the sidebar collapsed. Not in the sidebar, not in the toolbar, nor in the menu bar:

For some reason the updates don't download for me.

I follow the link, open the App Store and see that 8.9 is posted.  I don't get an update button; just an open button.
Clicking on the open button launches my version of Evernote (8.8.1)

The only way I can download the update is to delete Evernote from my iPad.
This also deletes my offline notebooks, which have almost completed downloading from the last update

That's weird. Do other company's apps also have the same problem?

I was getting this with previous versions too.  I rebuilt my index yesterday & it fixed the duplicate results.  Also fixed search issues I was having (notes not showing up that contained keywords in the search).

    Recreate Full Text Search Index

I'll give that a try, thanks!

When switching to the app from Mission Control, the notes list appear as part of another application.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. open Evernote app
    2. open Mission Control (F3)
    3. select another app
    4. open Mission Control again
You will see corrupted Note's list in Evernote app.

Does not happen to me here. What version of macOS are you running?
