You should be posting in an "Information Structure" discussion.
The purpose of this discussion is for feedback on a Evernote/Mac release

It's just a name; I am able to work with the feature regardless of the name (folder/notebook/tag)

As to your need for structure, why is this not a solution?

Your tags need better names 😉

I've been using Evernote Free for several years. I would like to turn on two-step verification, but it does not seem to work if I don't use a smartphone. I have neither iOS, Android nor Blackberry devices. I use only a single MacBook Pro to connect to the Internet. How can I increase the security of my Evernotes?

You can link your two-factor auth to an application like Google Authenticator or (my recommendation), 1Password. Strong passwords, like what @DTLow suggested, are always a good idea.

  3. What a UI mess Evernote has in macOS 10.13 High Sierra. We have the sidebar, which uses macOS Vibrancy to make it slightly translucent. Then we have the note list, which is what I'd call a "Mavericks grey". Finally, we have the note and it's new Mojave dark background… with a lighter grey header. Either have a dark mode that works in High Sierra (like Things 3), or disable it.

So, 3 panes, and 4 different colors. Meanwhile, Bear has it's theme act together, as well as Apple Notes.

I know it's only beta 1, but this is not what we had in mind when we asked for a Dark Mode all those years ago.

I wiped my MacBook Pro for the purpose of putting a Windows partition using Bootcamp on it. About half of my Notes are local, and I found where they were stored on my Mac. So, thinking I was doing all I needed to do, I backed up those Evernote folders (com.evernote.Evernote, etc.) to an external hard drive. My plan was then to simply move those folders to where local Evernote folders are stored on Windows. Unfortunately, I wasn't aware that folders that can be opened on Windows can't necessarily be opened on Mac (even Excel folders, but that's another problem for another day). I looked up, and I was apparently supposed to export those notes ahead of time.

I still have the folders for the local notes with them having a card.png, content.enml, quickLook.png, and snippet.txt. I can't open up the content.enml files in Evernote, but I can in TextEdit. It looks like HTML.

My question: is there a way to modify these content.enml files so that they actually open up in Evernote? Or maybe a way to automatically modify them from enml to Word files?

as far as I know, no.

Thanks for the input which actually got me to solve the problem - at least in part, the additional plugin (which I had) suddenly stopped working one day. When I approached Mailbutler support, they told me it was their problem so I didn't even try to solve... today I played with the configuration and it's working again... This kind of integration with important platforms such as Mail for Mac could be an integration Evernote could offer directly IMO - I find the integration with Mail priceless, an incredible added value

There is a newer Mail plugin that (as of Mojave) still works with Evernote.

Good job troubleshooting.  I've come across the same problem; some voodo code that confuses the Evernote browser.

On Evernote/Mac there's edit options to Simplify-Formatting / Make-Plain-Text that can be used to resolve problems like this.922876814_ScreenShot2018-08-15at08_20_17.png.e812a93ba398ed41dd92aa036e785977.png

The problem is, which note? ?
