  1. Hello! Today we released Evernote for Mac 10.9 (v 10.9.10 build 2439). This release includes a lot of changes to the left navigation / sidebar, enables drag and drop for moving multiple notes, a new global keyboard shortcut, and numerous other improvements. Past release notes are archived here. It is available now via the Mac App Store and as a direct download version from our website. If you are already running one of these versions, we are progressively rolling out to compatible devices and the new version will be available on all supported operating systems within 7 days. To learn how Evernote delivers app updates, when you’re eligible for an update, and how to update your Evernote app, visit How Evernote delivers app updates to our customers. New to Mac 10.9 You can now drag and drop multiple notes to move them to another notebook, space, or trash. A new global keyboard shortcut has been added: paste text from the clipboard into a new note from anywhere on your desktop (even if Evernote is in the background) by pressing Ctrl-Cmd-V on Mac, or Ctrl-Alt-V on Windows. This will fire a desktop notification that you can use to open the note you’ve created directly--otherwise, you can keep on working. You can now drag files into the left navigation menu to automatically create notes with the dragged file in the target notebook. (Note, we still need to add this functionality for shortcuts and spaces) If dragging a file to a stack, we fire the location selection menu prior to creating the note (so you can pick the notebook) We tweaked the notebook view to show the total number of notebooks you have in your account. And when you view a space you’ll now see how many notebooks and uncategorized notes are in that space. We’ve made a number of left navigation / sidebar changes: We moved the link for sharing feedback. It’s now in the Help menu at the top of the screen. You’ll find the link to file a support ticket there as well: click “Help and Learning” to automatically authenticate to our Help Center so you can submit support requests. All Notes is now called Notes, and we rearranged the list items so you can find what you need faster. And if you’re an Evernote Business customer, you can also collapse the Spaces list. We made it easier for you to add new items from the sidebar. Just hover over the Notes, Notebooks, Tags, or Spaces headers and a “+” button will appear. Evernote Business customers: You can now turn off the ability to see notebooks that exist in spaces in the notebooks list There is a new keyboard shortcuts reference menu entry point - see the tiny keyboard icon in the sidebar. When new keyboard shortcuts are added or updated, we’ll apply a small badge here. New shortcuts will be highlighted in the shortcuts menu itself and dismissible. Fixed highlights: If you saved your view options for a notebook or stack then tried to switch views using a keyboard shortcut, nothing would happen. Sometimes the app would crash after performing a search--this should be largely resolved. Occasionally, the app would ask you to sign in again after a restart. Opening a note that was already open in another window would not bring it to the front of the main application window. We fixed an issue with Home that would sometimes make the background image shake. A few miscellaneous search bugs were resolved. Coming soon: Customize the background color and pattern for your handwritten notes and sketches. Quickly search and move to different note using a keyboard shortcut (Mac - CMD+J) Create new audio recordings and playback audio file Dragging and dropping note links and tags directly into your note Additional export options Import folder Let us know what you think and we appreciate the continued feedback. We will keep hard at work! Thank you!
  2. For now, global keyboard shortcut editing is a little different in Evernote 10 than in Evernote Legacy. In version 10.8, you can double click or hover over a shortcut to access a three dot menu that lets you edit, revert, or disable completely the associated shortcut. Simply slide out the keyboard shortcuts reference menu--accessible via the Help Dropdown or using the shortcut Ctrl+ / (Windows) CMD + / (Mac). Wow, that is a very large GIF.

  13. UPDATE (12/16): we've released a patch (v10.5.7) to address a few concerning bugs in 10.5.6. You should be see this update soon in the Windows App Store. If you are already running the direct download version, you will see an automatic update sometime soon as we progressively roll out the update and do not need to take any action. ----------------------------- Hello! Today we are releasing Evernote for Windows 10.5.6 (v 10.5.6 build 2168). This is a big release, with lots of improvements both under the hood and functionality-wise. Below the release notes I’ve included slightly deeper descriptions for some of the functionality new to this release. Additionally, we’ve also added a new item to “coming soon”: email a note while sharing. It is available now via the Windows App Store and as a direct download version from our website. If you are already running the direct download version, you will see an automatic update sometime soon as we progressively roll out the update and do not need to take any action. New to Windows 10.5 - Access the keyboard shortcuts reference menu via the Help menu or by using the shortcut CTRL + / Keyboard shortcut for creating a tag and an application menu entry point Tags can now be created in the edit tags pop-up menu Performance improvements for note loading, the sidebar, and attaching files Log files can be zipped and the smaller file size allows for easier emailing of logs to our support team Toggle on/off the recent notes section in the left nav Navigating the note list with your arrow keys is now more seamless and loads the editor automatically. Hitting enter takes you into the note. Hitting ctrl + enter opens the note in a new window. Navigate to the top/bottom of the note list on Windows with the Home/End keys or the function + down/up arrow keys New note merge options added: separate note content with a divider or keep original note titles When you merge notes, the original notes are automatically placed in the trash unless you select "Keep copy of original notes" Tags are now a whole, scrollable part of the left navigation menu (not the scroll within a scroll) “Located in” filter is now available from the filter menu in All Notes Fixed highlights: Delay when copying an internal link Some keyboard shortcuts would not work when the note editor is selected Users now receive email notifications immediately when a note is shared with them Coming soon: Email a copy of a note via the share button Quickly search and move to different note using a keyboard shortcut (Windows - Ctrl+Q) Create new audio recordings and playback audio file Dragging and dropping note links directly into your note Global keyboard shortcuts Additional export options Import folder Let us know what you think and we appreciate the continued feedback. We will keep hard at work! Thank you! -------- The keyboard shortcuts menu With Evernote V10 we’ve heard a lot of great feedback regarding missing or changed keyboard shortcuts. We still have some work to do here and will continue to add new shortcuts. To help with both discovery of new and old shortcuts, we’ve added a keyboard shortcuts menu (available in 10.5 via CTRL + /). Our goal with the menu was to improve discoverability and in particular enable the opportunity for experimentation with the keystrokes that are available. Additionally we aimed to highlight the inline capabilities of the editor--you can find those in the last section of the keyboard shortcuts menu. Please try it out and experiment in the ways you can use V10's keyboard shortcuts. Merging just got better With V10 we enhanced merging by enabling you to reorder and selectively pick from merged notes. With this latest version we’ve enabled the ability to select optional line breaks and titling within the merge, as well as add a unique title to your merged note. This means for a cleaner merge experience that you can tailor a bit more closely to your liking. Additional ways to create tags We’ve been taking a close look at how we can improve the whole tagging experience for customers who work heavily with them. Making it easier to create tags with a keyboard shortcut, application menu option, and adding create tag to type ahead suggestions in the edit tags menu is a start. More to come.
