  1. Hello everyone--- Reaching out here in this thread to note that we’ve released a new version of Evernote (10.16) that contains the import folder feature. It’s located in a slightly new location on Windows --under “Tools > Preferences”, where it used to be located directly under the Tools menu. This version of import folder closely aligns with how the Windows version used to work, with some enhancements to both import logic (we have a few more protections in place for accidentally importing partially created files, that kind of thing) as well as additional UI that will indicate if you’re about to import a lot of files at once that could eat through a potentially limited upload limit. We’ve also made some improvements to notifications--grouping notifications for larger imports, as well as transparently notifying when we are creating a new note after you edit a retained file. A note on “remove at import” There’s one option that is still in progress here, and that’s the “Remove file” option after import. This option allowed files to be automatically removed after they were imported. We intend to reintroduce after working through some changes on the backend to properly support the option, and opted to get the feature into your hands without so you can begin working with it. A note on using import folders on Evernote 10 and Evernote Legacy If both Evernote Legacy and Evernote 10 are pointed to import from the same folder, both will attempt to import the file. In most cases, this will set up a race condition between both versions, with one application importing before the other one. Since they are built using similar logic, only one file should be imported. You will know which is successful because the notifications for Evernote Legacy Windows and Evernote 10 are different. If you are pointing to the same Evernote account, the file will eventually end up in your account either way. In general, we don’t recommend that both are run side by side. Ideally, any import folders that are previously set up on Evernote Legacy should be removed and re-added on Evernote 10. This is our initial release supporting import folder and have some ideas on where we could take it in the future. Please let us know what you think--particularly if you run into any issues setting up your new import folders.
  2. Hello! Today we released Evernote for Windows 10.16 (v 10.16.7 build 2732). This release contains “Import folders” - a top requested feature for our Windows customers that lets you pair folders on your computer with notebooks in Evernote. Once set up, any file dropped or scanned into that folder will automatically create a note with the file in Evernote. Find the feature in Tools > Preferences. Past release notes are archived here. It is available now via the Windows Store and as a direct download version from our website. If you are already running one of these versions, we are progressively rolling out to compatible devices and the new version will be available on all supported operating systems within 7 days. To learn how Evernote delivers app updates, when you’re eligible for an update, and how to update your Evernote app, visit How Evernote delivers app updates to our customers. New to Windows 10.16 Import folders are now available via the Preferences menu. After setting up a folder / notebook pair, just place a file (PDF, image, etc.) into the target folder and it’ll be automatically added to your Evernote account. Stability and performance improvements. Fixed highlights: Occasionally, notes would appear to be blank and the only solution was to restart the app. This should be resolved and we will continue to monitor. We fixed an issue where the timestamp on a note wouldn't update automatically. Tasks bugfixes. Miscellaneous bug fixes. Coming soon: Dragging and dropping note links and tags directly into your note Additional export options (in progress - HTML and export options released in 10.13) Import Folder Duplicate more than one note at a time Filtered notes widget for Home

  11. Hello! Today we released Evernote for Windows 10.13 (v 10.13.4 build 2607). This release brings two top requested features back. Right click context menus have been added back to the left navigation menu, allowing for quick action to be taken on almost any object in the left menu. We’ve also expanded export functionality by adding meta data options and single and multiple page HTML formats within a new Export options menu. Past release notes are archived here. It is available now as a direct download version from our website and via the Windows Store. New to Windows 10.13 You can now right-click on section headers and their lists in the sidebar to get quick access to options associated with the item. This opens up easier access to menu options for: Shortcuts Recent notes Saved searches Notebooks Stacks Spaces Tags Trash Anywhere on the left nav that is not an object to activate / deactivate view options for note counts and recent notes You now have more options for exporting notes, including splitting large ENEX files, exporting as HTML, and choosing which attributes to export (such as tag, reminder, etc.). These options can be found in the "Export" dialog located in notebook and note options menus. Use splitting ENEX to break up larger ENEX exports into easier to import files. (Splitting large ENEX files is only active if you’re exporting large enough groups of notes) HTML export supports both multi-page and single-page. Multi-page will separate each note into a separate HTML file and resource file with an accompanying index file. Pick meta data to be included with your export. For exported HTML, meta data is included with the file tags and can be inspected via the file’s source. More on export options here: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/209005557 To support the new export functionality we’ve made some visual improvements to import and export dialogs You no longer need perfect punctuation to get the search results you want. For example, searching for "checkin" will show you results for "check-in", "check.in", "check_in" and "check'in". Evernote Business customers can now search inside shared notes. Stability and performance improvements. Fixed highlights: We're working on an issue where notes would sometimes appear to be blank, and you would have to restart the app to see them again. The issue isn't completely fixed, but you should be seeing it much less frequently now. And we're still working on it. We fixed an issue where "close all windows" was no longer available via the application menu. Coming soon: Quickly search and move to different note using a keyboard shortcut (Mac - CMD+J, Windows - Ctrl+Q) Dragging and dropping note links and tags directly into your note Additional export options (considered in progress - we have additional export work landing soon) Import folder Let us know what you think and we appreciate the continued feedback. New to Evernote Web 10.9 You can now choose your preferred notebook when dragging a file to a stack. Now you can drag-and-drop files onto the sidebar to create a new note We tweaked the notebook view to show the total number of notebooks you have in your account. And when you view a space you’ll now see how many notebooks and uncategorized notes are in that space. We tidied up the navigation menu to make it easier for you to get around. All Notes is now called Notes, and we rearranged the list items so you can find what you need faster. And if you’re an Evernote Business customer, you can also collapse the Spaces list. We made it easier for you to add new items from the sidebar. Just hover over the Notes, Notebooks, Tags, or Spaces headers and wait for the handy “+” button to appear. Evernote Business customers: Don’t want the sidebar to show you every single notebook in a space? No problem! You can now turn that off (or back on again) in Account Settings - Preferences. Fixed highlights: Sometimes the app would crash after performing a search, but it’s now a thing of the past. We fixed an issue with Home that would sometimes make the background image shake. We fixed a few search-related bugs. Let us know what you think and we appreciate the continued feedback. We will keep hard at work! Thank you!
  25. Hello! Today we released Evernote for Windows 10.9 (v 10.9.10 build 2439). This release includes a lot of changes to the left navigation / sidebar, enables drag and drop for moving multiple notes, a new global keyboard shortcut, and numerous other improvements. Past release notes are archived here. It is available now via the Windows Store and as a direct download version from our website. If you are already running the direct download version, you will see an automatic update sometime soon as we progressively roll out the update and do not need to take any action. New to Windows 10.9 You can now drag and drop multiple notes to move them to another notebook, space, or trash. A new global keyboard shortcut has been added: paste text from the clipboard into a new note from anywhere on your desktop (even if Evernote is in the background) by pressing Ctrl-Alt-V. This will fire a desktop notification that you can use to open the note you’ve created directly--otherwise, you can keep on working. Correction from our previous release: Open an Evernote search from anywhere on your desktop (even if Evernote is in the background) by pressing Shift-Windows Key-F on Windows (the wrong shortcut was listed) You can now drag files into the left navigation menu to automatically create notes with the dragged file in the target notebook. (Note, we still need to add this functionality for shortcuts and spaces) If dragging a file to a stack, we fire the location selection menu prior to creating the note (so you can pick the notebook) We tweaked the notebook view to show the total number of notebooks you have in your account. And when you view a space you’ll now see how many notebooks and uncategorized notes are in that space. We’ve made a number of left navigation / sidebar changes: We moved the link for sharing feedback. It’s now in the Help menu at the top of the screen. You’ll find the link to file a support ticket there as well: click “Help and Learning” to automatically authenticate to our Help Center so you can submit support requests. All Notes is now called Notes, and we rearranged the list items so you can find what you need faster. And if you’re an Evernote Business customer, you can also collapse the Spaces list. We made it easier for you to add new items from the sidebar. Just hover over the Notes, Notebooks, Tags, or Spaces headers and a “+” button will appear. Evernote Business customers: You can now turn off the ability to see notebooks that exist in spaces in the notebooks list There is a new keyboard shortcuts reference menu entry point - see the tiny keyboard icon in the sidebar. When new keyboard shortcuts are added or updated, we’ll apply a small badge here. New shortcuts will be highlighted in the shortcuts menu itself and dismissible. Fixed highlights: If you saved your view options for a notebook or stack then tried to switch views using a keyboard shortcut, nothing would happen. Sometimes the app would crash after performing a search--this should be largely resolved. Occasionally, the app would ask you to sign in again after a restart. Opening a note that was already open in another window would not bring it to the front of the main application window. We fixed an issue with Home that would sometimes make the background image shake. A few miscellaneous search bugs were resolved. Coming soon: Customize the background color and pattern for your handwritten notes and sketches. Quickly search and move to different note using a keyboard shortcut (Windows - Ctrl+Q) Create new audio recordings and playback audio file Dragging and dropping note links and tags directly into your note Additional export options Import folder Let us know what you think and we appreciate the continued feedback. We will keep hard at work! Thank you!
