  1. I can't reproduce this, even after some changes in options. I do have other temp freeze problems pretty often.
  2. Try unchecking "Show descriptive links" under the Note tab in Options. EDIT: Didn't see that this was in the Mac forum. Check if there is a similar option in the Mac version.
  3. You can do those things in Drawboard as well, with the same touch support. While the desktop version of OneNote has more features than Drawboard, Drawboard has a lot more features than the OneNote store app. You just have to customize the right sidebar to your liking. The lack of touch support in Evernote is a different story though. That's annoying even if you don't have a pen.
  4. No, that's correct. I first tried to find an app in the store that would let you open and save picture files from outside the app, as EN does OCR on picture files, but I could't find any. I tried experimenting with different x86 apps as well but everyone of those had serious pen lag except Photoshop which takes to long to load. I'm guessing when Microsoft releases Paint 3D with the Creator's update in the spring, that problem is solved. We all still wish for a native solution though, along with touch support for scrolling in the left bar and in the notes...
  5. Add your vote to the thread above, which discusses the same request
  6. Actually all languages except English relies on user translations.
  7. Well the addition of "pretty" suggests that it was guess on my part that Evernote had realized that the system wasn't working. And I see the new thread that you have linked to as proof that Evernote had realized that the up-voting system wasn't working. Why else would there be a need for a thread like that now? The thread is a call for people to start using the system, in hope that they can still use it to pin point good suggestions in the future. And like I wrote above, I am all for a working voting system and I do vote myself. So I hope the thread will lead to users starting to use it more. But the votes have not been crucial to getting Evernote to implement new features, and I am sure about that since recent history shows that you can ask to have a feature implemented and get through without the presence of any up-votes at all. But in most cases you might need some support to back up that other users will benefit from your suggestion as well, and a larger number of votes is of course a good case for that.
  8. I agree. Hopefully they have something like that in mind when refering to a new global feedback forum.
  9. Who said that sarcasm doesn't work on the internet? Just because someone has 0 dollars in their bank account, doesn't mean that they are broke. But it might indicate that they are broke if they have no other visible assets.. Votes do have importance, it's just not the only indicator. So a thread with 3 replies but 25 upvotes will of course easier get some notice than the same thread with no votes. But a thread with 120 replies and 1 upvote will probably get more attention than both..
  10. No harm in voting of course and I do it myself as well. Encouragement and information is also a good thing. But playing down the importance of threads just because they have little to no votes, is not.
  11. I'm pretty sure EN realized pretty quickly that the voting system doesn't work as noone uses it, and I'm sure they are just as interested in number of posts in a thread if it hints to an interest level among the users,
  12. The "problem" is that it has to be an option. As tags are sorted alphabetically, changing it for everyone would ruin the workflow of those people that quick tag using the incremental search function. Say you have three tags called Weather, Good Weather, Bad Weather. If you only enter "w" today, it would only show Weather, so you can just press "w" and then enter to tag the note with Weather. With my & your preference, those people would have to scroll everytime, as both Bad Weather and Good Weather would display before and Enter would pick Bad Weather, and there is no way to type differently to only show Weather. However, I do believe those people are in the clear minority.
  13. It's just an example, and in that way you won't get any hits if you search for green or black, and you therefore have to remember that you named yout tag in a "unituitive" matter
  14. The tag/notebook picker are those found by clicking the magnifying glass in the left panel, next to the header in the tag/notebook sections, or if you click the tag with the magnifying glass in "search desctiption". If you uncheck prefix search, it will search inside the words of tag/notebook names and highlight that part in yellow.
  15. I agree! Hopefully there will be an option in the near future. Evernote's @kvitekp recently hinted to that they might be able to make this happen by using the "tag picker" as an alternative autocomplete for adding new tags to notes.
  16. My guess is that it's hard to develop a system that knows if you want to populate the url field or not, when pasting from the internet. I myself think it's great that Evernote automatically adds the url for easy access and a quick shortcut to the source. But I think it would be easier to understand your request if you expain the root of your frustration. Why is it a problem? In the user case you are mentioning it is not privacy at least For myself, I can see that a root cause might be that it's a bit "annoying" to have a non-relevant web adress displayed in the always visible UI, next to the tags in the note panel. But such visual UI annoyances are probably more likely to change if you request for an implementation of a UI option to show/display url. I could get behind that type of request, since I would prefer to have the url "hidden" in the Info section of the note. I have no recurring need for a web adress to show all the time, taking up precious tag-space.
  17. I have a great workaround going, which clearly rivals OneNote (except for the unlimited drawing space in OneNote, which doesn't go well with Evernote). It involves using the Windows Store app Drawboard PDF, which actually is an awesome PDF viewer and annotation app for touch devices, with a lot of "hidden" features like instant touch access to multiple customizeable pen colors/sizes etc.. It also let's you use the eraser on the back of a Surface Pen, and like OneNote it "remembers" single operations even after you have saved the note to Evernote, so that you can still delete a seperate pen line by just one eraser touch, even several days later.. "Setup" - one time operation: 1. Open Microsoft Word and create an empty PDF with 1 or several empty pages, by using the "Export" function from the "File" menu. 2. Create a new note in Evernote, and attach the PDF file so that it shows a preview of the empty document. This note will be used as a template for new handwritten notes, by having copies ready for new notes. 3. Install Drawboard PDF from the store if you haven't got it. Set it as your default PDF-viewer. (You won't be dissapointed even if you are using it just for PDF viewing, as it is much better than Acrobat Reader, Foxit, you name it) Recurring use: Double click on the empty pdf in Evernote, and it will open in Drawboard PDF. After that you can just write away. To save your handwriting to Evernote, you just tap the hamburger menu and the save icon. It will immediatly show the changes in the Evernote note. After you have closed Drawboard PDF you just open the file to make additional changes by double clicking the preview in Evernote once again. (As long as you haven't closed Evernote, you can actually just open up Drawboard again without finding the note in Evernote first, as it will show up directly when you open Drawboard. But if you have closed Evernote in between, it will save the changes to the harddrive only) Try it out, it's great!
  18. I would also love this feature! Probably my top request at this point. There are so many potential uses for it.
  19. There is no reason for trying to be "sneaky", by avoiding to discuss the eventual negative consequences for Evernote as a result of the implementation of a request. I think it's pretty fair to assume that Evernote go over all those effects pretty in-depth before deciding to go with a feature. So if I point out some obvious problems with the implementation in a thread like this, I at least give the user a chance to argue against it.
  20. Sure, but as with the people with large hard drives that can keep everything in EN, my guess is that EN is ok with that for now as long as they are far from a large number. I also guess that the people that only use the web service aren't the ones uploading a large number of big files either.. With a desktop app you can just let it sync in the background in a far more convenient way. So if you make it very easy for everyone to just upload stuff in EN like a dedicated cloud storage service, my guess is that there are many more people like those in this thread that would gladly use/"abuse" that function. A 50 GB cap or something similar for everybody wouldn't be far away at that point then.
  21. I'm talking about that fact that some people in this thread want selective sync because their local EN database file takes up too much space on their laptop hard drive. But EN doesn't charge enough to give everyone unlimited cloud storage, even though that is basically what people are refering to in this thread. At this point in time, your cloud storage will be limited to the free space on your hard drive. This means that some people with larger hard drives have the possibility to use EN in a way that EN isn't intended for (when you look at the price and compare with the competitors). But they can let this go for now I guess. But if selective sync were to be implemented, then everybody could place a complete movie collection in EN (in theory, as you also have a note limit), only being limited by their monthly upload...
  22. I am pretty sure that they will never implement this, as it would be impossible to implement without also implementing a system limit (which will likely be smaller than the number that's causing you disk issues), or increasing the price to match other cloud services. The free space on OneNote is 5GB, as an comparison. If you want the space you are asking for, you have to pay $10/month on Google Drive, iCloud or OneDrive. And in the light of the the recent "backlash" of increasing the price, I guess a new price hike is not something they will do again very soon. Evernote also doesn't want to be a cloud storage service, but a note taking service. That's also why they recently partnered with Google Drive.
