  1. ...my emphasis added above. At the risk of chiming in where it was not needed... I feel your pain, AllenDick. I *just* reinstalled the "legacy" version of EN and all the problems I was experiencing with the new version install, including but not limited to: sluggish response; lack of synching of changes made on desktop to server; inability to create a new nested tags; and, missing PDFs, went away, almost immediately. Certainly, or at least most likely, I will discover that clinging to the past and using Legacy will result in several negative side effects. (Hopefully climate change won't be one of them!) I remain convinced that the upgrade away from Legacy was, for me, a downgrade in performance and effectiveness.
  2. Visiting this forum on a rather infrequent basis, I must say that this post captures the Evernote experience, almost exactly, despite the age of the post! To be absolutely clear, I still love the app, but damned if the things it WILL do upon a new release, versus the things it WILL NOT do, versus the things it used to do that are missing in a new release, remains one of the mysteries of the universe. (Shows to go you how powerful and needed such an app remains, despite crapping on users the way EN routinely does. #Shrugs)
  3. At the risk of jinxing it, I THINK I have my issues with the latest upgrade worked out. Bottom Line: Apparently, it takes a long time for a huge database--which I have--to update and settle out. Once that happened, the issues I was seeing seemed to go away as well. Still a little pissed about some images and PDFs going missing, but I can recapture those, and there were only in one VERY large note anyway, evidently. All that said, I still downloaded the legacy version from the handy link posted above. (Trust but verify!)
  4. Right on cue, I am having this very same issue, after an update to the latest version, which for me is 10.57.6 WIN. I have *almost* resolved the issues of synching my local content to the server, albeit not exactly fully resolved yet. But this missing attachment stuff is frustrating as well. I even imported a saved copy of the previous version of the notes in question, which for some reason has the images and PDFs intact. I then copied the images from the "old" notes to the new one. At some point they still disappear. I notice the pictures of the type I am using in my local notes do not appear to be fully supported in the web view. (That is, some of my notes on the web show pictures, while some have this same "untitled attachment" message.) Could that be my issue?
  5. Okay, just ran another test. The server update is painfully slow, but the changes to the note appear to have happened. I am attempting to cut this particular note "down to size" because it is so big as to be unwieldy for rapid use. Anyway, will keep at it.
  6. That's handy magic, indeed! Whatever is going on, the new version seems to have broken something in my set-up. Even when the tags show "normal" and all that, the version of the database I see via the web view is DIFFERENT than I see on my local PC. This, even after a force reload. I am at a loss... Still, I really appreciate your trying to help.
  7. There is almost no doubt of a corrupted local database, based upon what I am now seeing. I am making changes locally, that are not showing up on the server version. This is, no doubt, what happened last night. Tons of work, that did not "sync" and with no indication that the sync was not complete--there I go relying on that Sync Button again--I did not realize it. I will keep trying, despite being frustrated to the point of anger.
  8. I realize that *someone* must think background synching is a good thing. I suspect it's "an acquired taste" that works for folks using EN in a way I do not. I NEVER worry about what happens on another client until I sync. I determine what happens, not the app. But again, something I may learn to appreciate. In terms of the other points, I checked the web version, and it too did not reflect my work from last night. I reckon the background sync was not complete and therefore I am screwed in that regard. So, a new server version is destined to not meet my needs. Anyway, I will do the log out, deselect, quit and reload idea. I am hesitant about using a different installer, since my PC is corporate-controlled and loading software is not something I can do on my own. To be honest, the version of the EN database on my box should be the "correct version" but it too is not. Basically, I am screwed. I will start over and see what happens. Again, I really appreciate your help!
  9. I appreciate all your experience, but to be candid, I find the new version horrible. I updated on my PC and have had nothing but problems. I HATE the "background" sync, I hate the sluggishness. Most notably, I spent an hour last night updating several notes, and establishing several notebooks, but apparently the database did not update. Today, I have NONE of that work! I have no clue how to get back to where I was. I hate the sluggishness of the new app. I HATE the lack of a "sync-now" button, although I am sure I am far from alone in that regard. I would love to go back to a old version and get my database back. How does that happen? Maybe after a few months, the bugs and/or sluggishness in the update will either be fixed or I won't care anymore.
  10. As much as I hate to chime in on a topic that seems obvious yet has heretofore apparently been ignored by the Evernote Technorati, I too am amazed that a tool of this type would not simply respect my system settings. I set my time to 24-hour format not BY ACCIDENT. Why the living hell would Evernote not either: Simply do the same, or allow me to set the format as I please?
  11. Every time, and I mean EVERY time, you guys update Evernote for Mac, my application will not load. The latest update results in a consistent, "error on our end, restart" message. What the effing eff? It worked great for so many years, then you improved it. Now the damned thing almost always requires several restarts to work on my Mac. And why the hell can I not see all my Shortcuts? Geez. (And for the record, I apologize for not being more technical with this posting.)
  12. Given the level of response, I am likely wasting my time. Add me to the list of Power Users who wants to see a MANUAL SYNC Button. That this basic functionality would be removed as an "improvement" is a discussion for another day, but for the love of gawd, just put the damned thing back, since *everyone* appears to want it! Geez.
