Are you seeing 10.57 or 10.58 as the app number?

My android app is the most recent 10.51, I am not using any other app other than web.

According to the site, the finals are 10.57 for platforms other than android. 10.58 I assume is a beta, which I'm not using.

Where do I find the web version?

That dialog that Gazumped showed is the same on the latest Web version, the latest MacOS Desktop version, and the latest Windows Desktop version.

You don't have to be a premium user to see and use it.

Perhaps you are using an old version of the app? What is the version that you are using? And can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing?

Hm, weird..I am using the latest app, but I tried it in the web settings, here it is in German, but I think it's still clear, that the option is not there.

? It's possible to change the start screen in desktop Settings from Home to your last position in the database.

I've been asking for this for a long time now. I just checked in my Evernote settings, but couldnt find the option, ist it only for premium users? For me it would be perfect to start with a selected notebook, as was in legacy the case. I have no use for the home and I would prefer to disable it. Is there an option for this, that I might've overlooked?

  4. I'll see, if that would work, leaving the app were it was. But generally I always want to start with my notes list, so I hope they will add that option.

Fast scroll is that function in the screenshot. Works much faster in long lists. It actually was there in the previous version, for some reason it has been removed, they've been promising to add it for months now but nothing. And neither did they add the disabling home option that they are telling me they plan to for over a year now.

I work testing software and the new version needs some improvements

  5. Hi,

so for these 2 reasons I hate the new version. Mostly because it is a forced start with the home menu everytime, instead of the notes list and the removal of the fast alphabetical scroll. I've been contacting and asking support for 1+ year about this and they only keep saying they have it on their list, with each update I hope they did, but up until today it has not been implemented to optionally disable the new, annoying home menu and have a fast alphabetical scroll.

Does anyone know of an alternative solution?

I usually always keep all of my apps up to date, but this is the only update that I hate so much, I'm even hesitantly considering going back to the old one. But for security reasons I would prefer another solution, if there is one.

  6. For 2 main reasons I hate the new version aswell and I've been messaging support for more than one year now about it and I keep getting promises, but they're never implemented. (Even though they would be totally easy to do)

    1. Fast alphabetical scroll has been removed with the new version

    2. Much worse the forced start with the new home menu that I totally dislike. I get it, everybody has their preferances, but why not make it optional? It is lessening my productivity, when all I want is to start with my previous view or the notes list.

    3. The search function that doesn't start to show results immediately when entering letters

I also believe that the developers made a step backwards with the new version unfortunately.

  7. I like the new EN actually, but I hate the new start view. I like to have my notes listed immediately upon startup, now there's an unnecessary additional step inbetween.

I sent that as a feedback, that they should at least add an option to disable the start view, and I would encourage anyone to also send feedback to EN, they take user feedback into consideration if it's many users complaining about something specific.

I also miss the alphabetical fast scroll, but they told me, it will be added soon to EN.

Hi. This is a (mainly) user-supported Forum,  so the product is nothing to do with us directly,  other than that we are all users at one level or another...

I see, well Pinkelephant surely sounded like a representative in his post 😅

Plus I'm amazed at how active a forum about a notes app is, you guys have thousands of posts over here.

...and as far as I know any 'introductory' offers are basically for the initial period they cover - subscriptions would revert to whatever was the normal level at the time they fall due.  (Although you can always downgrade your membership again if that proves not to be acceptable at the time...)

    Thx, good to know.

There is a natural limit for lowering prices: The percentage of income that is just needed for distribution and payment processing rises. I am in a group running preps for a virtual event in the range of 25€ per ticket - appr. 10% of this goes into payment and web infrastructure. If we would charge half, it would be rather 30%, if we could take double, it would fall to 6 or 7%.  Maybe there are further economies of scale, but at least for AppStore and PlayStore there are additional cost as well (AppStore 30% 1st year, 15% each consecutive year).

This means the margin on income generated from 2€ subscriptions would probably be much smaller than from 5€.

And this is a problem, because there will not only be upgrades, there will probably as well be downgrades. If I estimate for every 3-4 Basic upgrades to 2€ there would be 1 Premium downgrade, the net income situation would not change, but the cost to support the new demands on services would rise. So in the end there is probably not much to gain from a lower level subscription, compared to today.

The main issue still is that EN offers a quite good free option, and this without a deadline (either in time or volume). So beside of attrition over devices or volume there is today no point in time when a Basic user needs to decide about „up or out“.

That makes sense to me and is a sound analysis of all the aspects that I didn't consider from all angles. You guys are pretty smart I must say by the quality of your product EN and the few postings that I read from you.

Atm I'm grateful for the free version for now even with having one less device included. If my financial situation improves, I'll get the premium in a blink of an eye.

Btw there was an offer with a discount for an annual subscription, is that valid for 1 year only or does the price remain discounted?

  10. Hi,

I am a long time user, I was using phone and tablet for free plus the web on PC. 90% of the Evernote functions are unused by me, I only use Text and rarely add one picture, that's about it. Since you decided to count Web as 1 device, I exported my notes to another app Nimbus Notes. It doesn't have these restrictions on the free version.

Still I would pay up to 2$ for Evernote, as a liked it a bit better, even though Nimbus comes quite close and is free for a user like me.

I don't need most of the Evernote functions like Webclipper etc. All I need would be a free device limit, 99% of my notes are only text, nothing more and for me as student the minumum asking price for a subscription is just too much especially considering my use is not extensive at all.

I just write text notes. 120 USD/year for that is ridiculous, it's the cost of a cellphone plan in some western countries. There needs to be a 2$/mo tier between Basic and Premium for people who are just syncing basic text notes. I don't care about email, OCR, TODOs, webcam, ink, etc.

I agree with this comment, I actually replaced EN with Nimbus, if there was a 2$ tier I would've considered just for the web client in addition to the 2 android devices (Phone +tablet) EN is an overkill feature wise for me anyway, I don't use 90% of its functions at all.
