The temporary solution I've found is neither "new" or an alternative, but rather a stopgap and that is to install Evernote Legacy. This gave me back the usability I need (Presentation Mode primarily) until Evernote returns that feature to their latest product version. Until then, I will be looking for a workable alternative. I would really rather stay with Evernote because it has been invaluable to me, in particular over these past few years as an educator, but if I find a solid alternative, I may have no choice to jump-ship. With Evernote developers remaining silent (so far) as to whether Presentation Mode will return, they really leave me with no choice because I fear that support for Legacy will end suddenly with no advance warning. If that happened mid-semester, it could be disastrously disruptive.
