  1. I'm also running into export problems, when trying to export a notebook of ~6000 notes. It runs for a bit, and then throws an error saying "We found the following note that may be blocking the export. Please open the note and resolve any banners", with a reference to the specific note. When I delete that note and try again, it just comes up with a different problematic note. So far I haven't found any system to the notes that apparently create problems. Also, I have no clue what is meant by "banners" here.

    Win 10, Evernote 10.79.3.

  2. I fear we're not going to agree on this, but I strongly disagree. I'm not a professional developer but it seems common sense to me to verify the intended outcome of a procedure, and to notify the user if it failed, especially with procedures like signing out and uninstalling, which create security risks when they fail. Note that Evenote told me it would delete my data, but then didn't, without telling me. Note furthermore that the potential "sync glitch causing a random error on my system" was also not a problem cause by something else my system but by Evernote itself.

I've reported errors and bugs to Evernote Support many times but never got a satisfactory response, let alone within reasonable time (typically, this is a process of months).

My guess is that the unsynced note changes block the sign out. Deleting the folder will have removed those and forced a resync.

Yes, that's also my hunch. Still it seems quite risky to me that an app claiming to sign you out does not actually do so, and without any error message or warning. Also, uninstalling should uninstall the app and the data (perhaps giving you the option to keep the data if you want); using Revo or other third-party apps should not be necessary.

  4. Update: also if I sign out, quit, uninstall, restart windows, reinstall the latest version, and open Evernote, it still opens with me signed in as if nothing happened. Also, the sync issues persist (i.e., notes added in the web interface do not show up locally). Meanwhile, loading notes is painfully slow or fails completely, while creating new notes does also not seem to work at all. This is totally ruining my work day.

  5. Perhaps I'm overlooking something silly, but this seems weird. As I'm experiencing sync issues with Evernote on Windows 10, I decided to try to sign out and sign back in to rebuild the local database. When I click "sign out..." it asks me whether to remove Evernote's data from my device, which I confirmed. Then it showed a popup warning about unsynced changes, on which I chose to "exit without syncing". Subsequently, EN shows a brief popup "please wait while we finish syncing" (!) and then quits. I can't reopen it until I choose "quit evernote" via the icon in the notification area. When I then restart EN, I'm still signed in. This persists even after I uninstall and reinstall Evernote (without ever signing in!). Not only does this seem like a security risk to me, it also prevents me from addressing my sync issues. Anyone recognize this?

  6. Since today (just updated to 10.63.4) the search box is not finding my notes, both in the search box for moving tasks and in the general search box. When I type the title of a note that I know (and can see that) exists, I simply get "no notes found". It seems that something is broken? Is anyone else experiencing this? It's completely wrecking my workflow...

  7. I'm also noticing this sluggish behavior, using 10.61.10 on an otherwise very fast Windows 10 laptop. There seem to be lags with almost every action in the interface - scrolling, opening notes, menu items - even the "about" dialog initially takes a second to load (on the second try it was immediate). Personally I'd much rather have a fast and responsive interface with the existing feature set than additional features (AI) that I didn't ask for.

  8. Well that's a little simplistic, I think. While I pay on a yearly basis, I can't afford to switch services on a yearly basis; the "transaction costs" of switching are simply too high. In that sense it's different from increasing the price of a cup of coffee, where I can just get up and move next door if I don't like the new price. Sudden price hikes like this (almost double!), combined with vague promises of new features (that I didn't ask for)  are not helping consumers to make informed decisions.

  9. Just to add to the pile: I just noticed that that the changes I made to a note yesterday - a todo list with tasks for an important project - are now gone. Several tasks that I'm very sure I added have disappeared, and several tasks that I'm very sure I marked as "completed" are back to "open". I just updated ER before doing any work yesterday. I'm really pissed right now - I'm on a very strict deadline so I really can't have this. Filed a support ticket.

Hmmn - but why not add that task to the same note?  All your tasks show up in Task view wherever they are,  and when you click on that task you have the option to go directly to that note if you wish...

I still think it would be useful to have internal links in tasks. I keep my tasks organized by project in a note per project (since there are also no tags on notes tasks, this seems to be the only way to group by project). But often you need some background information to complete a task. Both of these things - organizing tasks by project and making notes on how to complete tasks - seem rather common sense for a professional environment but somehow Evernote makes it currently quite hard to do both. The only way I can think of to do so with the current features seems to keep all of your task in one giant note, organized manually into projects. That simply wouldn't work for me.

  11. I'm by now getting the hang of tasks and I typically use the task panel as my general to do list. However, currently the task panel is only accessible as "slide out" from the left, which then overlaps with the note list. I would love to have the option to detach the task panel as a separate window. This would allow me to

    1. Keep an eye on my task list while I manage my tasks and notes in the main window
    2. Look *only* at my to do list when I want to focus on (as in, actually do) my tasks, without all the clutter of the main window around it.

There is another thread with the similar problem:

I've seen the issue on my machine, too. During the last 2-3 days. But at the moment it is working again for me. Maybe there is something around with the new syncing method that affects account temporarily...

Thanks, I had seen the other thread but thought I'd make a new one since my issue seems somewhat broader. But they may well be caused by the same underlying issue indeed...

  13. Since I updated I'm experiencing several seemingly sync-related issues:

    • Changes in tasks (new tasks, completed tasks) do not show op in the task view and are not synced to other devices and the web version.
    • Notes e-mailed to evernote do not show up in evernote.

This seems to be only on my Windows 11 laptop; on my Windows 10 work laptop everything seems fine. After restarting the laptop everything seemed synced but after that new inconsistencies showed up again.

  14. At the same time, sending it directly to EN does not allow to collect more support for an idea from other users, and conversely, for other users to see which ideas have already been suggested and to respond and contribute to such ideas.

Honestly, I'm a bit puzzled by this response. I my mind, I''m contributing to the collective good by sharing an idea for improvement for what I perceive to be an small inconsistency in the EN interface, to a forum that appears to be set up for exactly this purpose. I'm not complaining or making demands. Instead I'm basically being told that EN developers may have more important things to do and that I should take my ideas elsewhere. If that is the typical response to feature requests in the "feature requests" forum we might as well close it and instead all communicate with EN on an individual basis.

  15. Well I posted it here in the forum titled "Feature requests",  because I think it would be a nice and sensible feature. Obviously, I don't have any insight in the effort required to make it happen and of course it is up to Evernote developers to assess weather this is feasible and whether they want to prioritize it. If requests are to be made via Feedback or support tickets, then what is this forum for?

  16. Thanks, but I really don't see the technical issue. I understand that templates must be applied to empty notes, but if I'm creating a new note from the move task dialog, that note is empty until the task is moved to it. In other words, if I can already manually create a new note, add a template, and then move a task to it, I don't see why the step of choosing a template for the new note can't be integrated in the move task dialog as well.
