  1. I get people's frustrations though.  Especially if you've been here as long as some of us (October 2008).  It can probably feel like a terrible breakup.  I am less interested in the drama, but if someone is leaving Evernote and wants to detail what they're using now, pros and cons, etc. I'm here for that.  I think that's extremely valuable.  I have some ideas about what's out there in the Notes space, but don't follow it super closely.

This apparently is a Mac specific problem.  The free space algorithm doesn't take into account temporary space such as iCloud, temp files, memory swap files, etc.  It's only counting physical free space on the hard drive.  I'm going to make this warning optional and try to get it into 10.59, along with the database location setting that this dialog is attempting to open.  Obviously they were supposed to be release together.

    Thanks RMorgan.  Appreciate it.

  3. Received this error for the first time today, and seeing as how I'm not on a "beta" release of the software, it's extremely shocking.
What disk space?  Where?  Is that in my Evernote application folder?  I assume that's where it stores the data locally.   I'm using 649 MB and my hard drive has 39 GB free.  I feel like I have some space left.  I'm glad someone didn't just submit a ticket and posted about it here.

Respectfully to the long-time users, the personal settings do nothing for this issue. The OP is not complaining about emails; they are receiving in-app pop-ups offering 25% off of Professional for one year. I have gotten this pop-up at least three times: twice on desktop and once on mobile. In my case, EVERY time it has come up when I open the app and start searching for something. I find it enormously disrespectful to users who are already paying $70/year for Personal (which I tend to think is a tad overpriced for what Evernote is delivering) and are in the middle of working. I don't want 25% off a more expensive plan; I want the plan I chose to cost less and I want to be left to my work.

I have no idea why this curse is on me, either. I also got the lousy "weekly summary" and other push notifications that I did not ask for and that Evernote does not provide fine-grained controls for. I ended up turning off ALL notifications, rendering any reminders useless.

@spacorn I fairly regularly tell Evernote what I think about things like this by using Help > Share feedback in the desktop app or Settings > Support > Submit a support request in the mobile app. Though you won't get a personal response to feedback, I have seen things I gave feedback on improve; for example, the yellow "Upgrade to Professional" badge that used to always be prominently displayed at top left under your name has disappeared and is under a menu now.

That said, I think it's also appropriate to bring these things up in the forums. It's good for users to talk with each other about both the features they love and about where the product/service needs work. Plus, Evernote employees lurk.

Thank you for bringing this up.  Sometimes it feels like this forum is just for Evernote apologists, and I've been using the app since 2008.  If I didn't love the darn app, I wouldn't be using it.  But stunts like this are stupid from a marketing perspective.  No, I didn't invite the advertising and this is beyond getting an email about it.  This is literally the same ***** you see when you try to visit a website and immediately get hit with a "Save 10% off by signing up for.." banner.

Anyway, submitting a support ticket seems like a good idea.  I'll be doing that.

There have been a number of threads on this issue. If you search around you will see the suggestions that have been offered as to how you might resolve this issue.

Ok.  I glanced through the most recent posts in General Discussion and didn't see anything.  This has only happened within the past 3 weeks.  I'll perform a full search.  Thanks!

  6. I think this is the 4th "offer/sales tap/ad" I've received letting me know that I can save 25% on Professional.  One of them was in the top of my Notes list last week.  This pop-up had to be closed before I could do anything else in the app.

Some folks on Reddit think I'm overreacting, but isn't this kind of ridiculous?
I mean just imagine you're giving a presentation for high level executives and Powerpoint butts in to let you know you could save 15% by upgrading to Office 365 Plus Premium or something.

  7. It would be nice to have separate column choices between the Notes and Reminders tabs, when using the list views.  For example, I don't want the column "Reminder Date" showing in my Notes tab because it takes up so much space.  But when I'm in the Reminders tab, I would much rather have that information over Created and Updated dates.

Basically it would be nice for each tab to have its own custom layout and remember the choices.  Example below:

Thanks again for this report. We have stopped the auto-updates to this version.  Please uninstall version 11.38 and install the current GA version, 10.36 from https://evernote.com/download

After reinstalling version 10.36 you should not see another prompt to update to version 11.38.

    Thanks!

Also seeing the same issue.  I have close to 10K notes.  If I uninstall the app, will EN have to rebuild a local copy of all those?

  9. Lately, the clipper in Chrome has become horribly unreliable.  I'm trying to clip a simple PDF and keep getting this message.

It would be super helpful if there was an iOS widget for your tasks

Yeah agreed.  Evernote used to have an iOS widget before v10.  A couple of widget options with either a note or tasks view would be great.  They don't mention it in the Release Notes, but they must be working on one.  Evernote is one of those all-star apps that Apple likes to show in their slide decks.  I can't imagine them not having something in the pipeline.

fwiw  My solution is to add a "Subject Date" to my notes
by prefixing the date to the title, for example 2021-07-01 Statement [Shaw Internet] ....

For payment date, I use the Reminder feature

That's a good idea.  I also feel like I might be able to get around some of it by sort order.  I wonder if there's a way to specify the sort order in a saved search.  Anyone have any luck with that?

  12. Here's a prime example of why it's beneficial to me:

    image.png.92a5986fbd39eb3b477d7ce6858dbce1.png

Oh no.  I missed tagging the bill from March that was paid on Apr 10.  Now when I add the tags, the Updated date changes even though I did nothing else to the note.
It sure would be nice to change it back and keep all my notes where I had them.

I love the ability to change the date field. I collect genealogical information from the past. It makes so much more sense to change the wedding date of a relative from today's note to the actual date they got married. Ditto for their birth date and other important dates. I also change both the date and time when I create a note as my reminder for an appt or task in the future. Same applies to accumulated receipts which generally don't get scanned for several days.

Yeah I get that.  It's very handy having two dates you can modify on a note.  I've used it on numerous occasions to sort of pin upcoming bills to the top of my notes list.  Maybe it's very challenging to do with the new infrastructure.  I haven't heard it mentioned anywhere else, so I'm mostly curious if it's coming back or not.  If not, I need to rethink my workflows.

I don’t doubt it makes sense for you, thanks for explaining this part of your workflow.

It crosses my mind why this should be necessary. How often do you really look this up, or need to reproduce what happened in this nitty-bitty detail ?

My workflow is pretty simple: When I receive an invoice, I enter it right away in my banking software. Usually i pay once a week what has accumulated. I then scan the invoice, and tag it for example for the tax declaration. Tax stuff is collected physically for legal reasons, the rest goes to the shredder.

Each invoice carries the vendor name, a date and an invoice number - I don’t care if I received it 2 days after, the date is in the OCR. All payments carry the vendor name and the invoice number as well, are collected in my banking software, and in the monthly bank statements. They are OCRed as well. I usually need a single search (for the invoice number, or the vendor name) and get all notes related to the invoice.

Personally I don’t see any value in manipulating the notes dates, just to set it precisely to where I want it to be. It can be done, but I don’t see a use case for it.

Thanks for throwing in your two cents on how something I use ALL THE TIME isn't useful for you.  That's real helpful.

  15. Maybe this is already in the pipeline.  If not and there are no plans to add it, please let me know.  It's primarily the main reason why I'm still using the legacy app along with the current release.  When I work with my bills in Evernote, I generally make the Created Date be the statement date and then Updated Date is when I pay it.  It's very handy being able to update both.
