I think some boilerplate text in the future telling users to logout and back in would be a good idea when changes like this are made. I never assume I need to do that. Stop and restart, sure.

Yeah I may have jumped the gun there. My apologies. I saw that in the plan comparison and assumed my saved searches were toast. Good on them then.

I'm not sure what they mean by "Boolean terms to refine search results", but my Saved Searches and Shortcuts seem ok at the moment. I wonder if Premium folks were grandfathered in on some of these Professional features. If so, I think I'll just stop talking now.

These are all valid points. My impression from the emails was that Premium subscriptions wouldn't lose features. But if I've lost the ability to use advanced search options, then that simply isn't true. That is a feature lost. When I saw "Use Boolean terms to refine search results" in the Professional section, I immediately thought, "Oh no, this is going to affect me isn't it?"

Good call Mike. That was my problem. I completely closed the app and that did nothing. Signing out and back in was the solution on the Windows and iOS clients for me. Thanks!

I'm shocked but it actually prompted me today to update. Not sure how and when it decides to do that. Very weird.

I think the new version came out on Monday. I’ll leave it alone and see what happens, but I guarantee it won’t prompt me for the new version even a month from now. This is the general state of things in Evernote-land right now. Works fine on the Windows client though. Got prompted today for the update.

Currently running 10.10.5 on Mac OS 11.2.3 I know there is a newer version of the app out there, but when I manually Check for Updates, nothing happens. This isn't the first time this has happened. Anyone else seen this behavior? Should I stick with the App Store version? I've always been hesitant to use that version but if there's fundamentally no difference now, maybe I should give it a shot.

In the left panel, click on Tags and there should be 3 dots (...) on each tag. From there you can delete them, but I think you have to do it each one individually.

All rights reserved I'm now running macOS 11.2 (Big Sur) on a new M1 MacBook Air. This keyboard shortcut for editing tags just doesn't work for me at all. I am going crazy over here trying to figure it out.

Is anyone else having problems with the keyboard shortcut for Edit Tags (Ctrl+Opt+Cmd+T)? I pulled up my keyboard viewer to make sure the buttons are all registering. I verified that the popup functions when opening from the menu. I just can't get the shortcut to trigger it. I'm not seeing any other conflicts in system preferences. Any other ideas? I've also noticed that for me to add tags, I can't simply use (Cmd+'). I have to also use shift and hit (Cmd+"). When I was having these issues on my old MacBook Pro, I just assumed there was a weird compatibility issue. Now I'm running on a brand new M1 MacBook Air that I haven't had time to crud up yet. Open to suggestions.

All rights reserved I'm running macOS 10.13.6 on a 2011 MacBook Pro, which I know isn't the latest OS, but geez it's not that old is it? I think I'm just going to revert back to legacy.

Anyone have any luck using this keyboard shortcut? I cannot get it to work. Nothing else appears to be happening either, so I don't think it's mapped to another application. I'm open to suggestions.

I think having an additional option to change the information density could be worthwhile here. Similar to the way Gmail handles it maybe. They have options for Comfortable and Compact. Just throwing that out here.

Yeah, I definitely agree with that. Between the note list and the note header, I would really like to see less dead space overall.

I've been going back and forth so much between the previews, betas, release, and legacy versions, that I managed to ***** it up pretty good. Ended up with a bad zombie note that was keeping me from syncing. I uninstalled and then scoured my directories for everything related to Evernote. Be sure to look in App_Data folders. It wasn't until I completely nuked the site from outer space that I was able to get everything fixed.

Haha. I read all that and still don't understand. I mean how hard is this? Make a keyboard shortcut that works no matter where you are in the app.

Anyone have any ideas on dealing with the random crashes? I can get it to crash every time I use it now, which is real helpful. I really don’t want to uninstall and reinstall again since I’m trying to download my notes for offline use. Including a video of the behavior. It shows it crashing after submitting feedback. I broke down and installed the Mac version to see for myself, since I use that one a lot less than the Legacy Windows client. Same results there. You cannot use the keyboard to navigate into a note and back out. There really should be dedicated shortcuts for this behavior. Has anyone had any luck using the keyboard shortcuts for adding tags and doing searches? I could not get those to work in the Mac client. and I remember having issues with the search in the latest Windows beta as well. I’m surprised they would do a public release with broken shortcuts. I must be missing something here.

I was using the latest beta there for a couple weeks but had to switch back because I need to edit dates in my notes. That's a non-negotiable for me. Thought I would jump in to see if there's a new beta. Shew...was not expecting a public release for the apps. I do not believe they are ready for prime-time yet, but that isn't for me to decide. I really hope Evernote knows what it's doing and is really internalizing the comments here and the press out there.

You leave the forums for a week and it all hits the fan apparently. So no more beta and the official releases are out. Uh...ok. For anyone running the new version, can you confirm some things for me please? Are we able to edit the created / updated dates? Can you navigate around the app using the keyboard only? Moving between the note list, into a note's metadata, into the note itself, and back out again. Does the collapsed left-panel still use mouse-over instead of clicking to access Shortcuts, Tags, Notebooks, etc? According to the "What's New in Evernote" article, I guess we're stuck with tags at the bottom of notes despite numerous attempts by me and others to point out the flaws in that. I guess we've lost that battle.

The note moving to a notebook isn't the issue. If you're in one notebook and move it to another, I totally expect the focus to change. But when you're in All Notes and move it to another notebook, I would expect the focus to stay on the note. It doesn't. You are immediately sent to the next note. That seems like a bug to me. Because if I change the notebook any other way, the focus doesn't change. It's only an issue because I try really hard to do everything with the keyboard in Evernote for Windows. This is the one place where it bites me.

It doesn't matter what view I'm in. I stay in All Notes if that's where I'm at. It only happens with the "Move Note" keyboard shortcut though. If I click in the note and choose another Notebook or go to the Note info and change it, I don't move away from the note. It seems to only affect the keyboard shortcut. Can someone else please try it to see if you get the same results? Find a list of notes Select a note and hit Shift+Alt+M. Select another notebook and hit enter. Does the note selected change to the next note in the list? It would be nice to know if it's just me or not.

This happens in any view. Even if I'm just looking at All Notes. I change a Notebook for a note, it's like the view refreshes, and I'm instantly pushed to the next note. I'll see if I can do a screencast or something.

Not sure if this is the right place to bring this up, but I think this is a bug. It's been there for as long as I can remember. If it's been brought up elsewhere, I can't find it in this forum. So I'm working in a note. I maybe change the title, set some tags, update the dates. I do this a lot with notes that come in from FileThis. Bills and stuff like that. I then use the shortcut to Move it to another Notebook (Shift+Alt+M). I move it. And the focus changes to the next note in the list. I never stay in the note that I started in. That doesn't seem like normal behavior to me.
