  1. I broke down and installed the Mac version to see for myself, since I use that one a lot less than the Legacy Windows client. Same results there. You cannot use the keyboard to navigate into a note and back out. There really should be dedicated shortcuts for this behavior. Has anyone had any luck using the keyboard shortcuts for adding tags and doing searches? I could not get those to work in the Mac client. and I remember having issues with the search in the latest Windows beta as well. I’m surprised they would do a public release with broken shortcuts. I must be missing something here.
  2. I was using the latest beta there for a couple weeks but had to switch back because I need to edit dates in my notes. That's a non-negotiable for me. Thought I would jump in to see if there's a new beta. Shew...was not expecting a public release for the apps. I do not believe they are ready for prime-time yet, but that isn't for me to decide. I really hope Evernote knows what it's doing and is really internalizing the comments here and the press out there.
  3. You leave the forums for a week and it all hits the fan apparently. So no more beta and the official releases are out. Uh...ok. For anyone running the new version, can you confirm some things for me please? Are we able to edit the created / updated dates? Can you navigate around the app using the keyboard only? Moving between the note list, into a note's metadata, into the note itself, and back out again. Does the collapsed left-panel still use mouse-over instead of clicking to access Shortcuts, Tags, Notebooks, etc? According to the "What's New in Evernote" article, I guess we're stuck with tags at the bottom of notes despite numerous attempts by me and others to point out the flaws in that. I guess we've lost that battle.
  4. The note moving to a notebook isn't the issue. If you're in one notebook and move it to another, I totally expect the focus to change. But when you're in All Notes and move it to another notebook, I would expect the focus to stay on the note. It doesn't. You are immediately sent to the next note. That seems like a bug to me. Because if I change the notebook any other way, the focus doesn't change. It's only an issue because I try really hard to do everything with the keyboard in Evernote for Windows. This is the one place where it bites me.
  5. It doesn't matter what view I'm in. I stay in All Notes if that's where I'm at. It only happens with the "Move Note" keyboard shortcut though. If I click in the note and choose another Notebook or go to the Note info and change it, I don't move away from the note. It seems to only affect the keyboard shortcut. Can someone else please try it to see if you get the same results? Find a list of notes Select a note and hit Shift+Alt+M. Select another notebook and hit enter. Does the note selected change to the next note in the list? It would be nice to know if it's just me or not.
  6. This happens in any view. Even if I'm just looking at All Notes. I change a Notebook for a note, it's like the view refreshes, and I'm instantly pushed to the next note. I'll see if I can do a screencast or something.
  7. Not sure if this is the right place to bring this up, but I think this is a bug. It's been there for as long as I can remember. If it's been brought up elsewhere, I can't find it in this forum. So I'm working in a note. I maybe change the title, set some tags, update the dates. I do this a lot with notes that come in from FileThis. Bills and stuff like that. I then use the shortcut to Move it to another Notebook (Shift+Alt+M). I move it. And the focus changes to the next note in the list. I never stay in the note that I started in. That doesn't seem like normal behavior to me.
  8. Really enjoying this video series to see all the work that goes on behind the scenes. I like knowing that a lot of care and attention goes into so many aspects of the service and apps. Even the little things like what the button should look like to create new notes. I also like Ian's comment about making Tags a "first class" feature of the mobile app. I couldn't agree more. Not sure if this is the best place to mention it, but are there any plans on being able to edit or update the dates on the mobile app?
  9. I just tried using it in Safari on my Mac. Couple of ideas (I'm assuming you all want feedback): If you have more than 25 notebooks, paging through them is kind of tedious. Adding tags is a little clunky. The first time I tried using it, I selected a bunch of tags and clicked back. That wiped out all of my tags. I assumed the Save at the bottom was to save the email, not the tags. Just my two cents.
  10. No serious reasons. It's been a busy several months with moving and everything. My MacBook Pro is 8 years old as well. So maybe a little wary of big upgrades like that.
  11. I cannot use the keyboard shortcut to edit tags in a note. (Command + ') Is anyone else seeing this behavior? Version 7.9 (457563 Direct) Editor: 62.3.7750 (ee6e44e) macOS High Sierra (10.13.6)
  12. What gazumped said is a good way to go. If you're looking for more information, try searching for "Evernote Table of Contents", and you'll see examples where others have used this feature. I use this all the time to index and pull together a bunch of related notes. And all of your comments will be in that master note with the links. Also, you can attach comments to clips as you're making them. Not sure if that would help or if you're trying to comment after the fact. Here's an example of me commenting on your post and what the note looks like in Evernote.
  13. Same here. No issues. Maybe disable the extension in Chrome and make sure you're using the latest version. Apologies, if you've already tried that.
  14. On Mac, it's like second nature to me. Muscle memory. Have to look it up. https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/208313358-Keyboard-shortcuts-in-Evernote-for-Mac ⌘ | Select Note List I use that all the time on Mac to move around in the Note List and edit multiple notes. If there is a way to do it in Windows, I haven't found it yet. I basically use F2 to edit the title of a note and Shift+Tab to move back to the Note List. It's not a very elegant solution. Back to the Mac version though. I wish it could be customized more. I mean customizable toolbars is a staple of Mac OS, right? Yet the Windows client is way more flexible in this area. You can even throw your shortcuts up into the toolbar. I wish there was one client to rule them all ...and in the darkness bind them.
  15. Ok @Dave-in-Decatur and @TK0047. I hear ya. I'm using the Windows client in Windows 10 everyday at work. It's definitely my favorite client, especially compared to the Mac, Web, and iOS versions. The cursor disappearing (which was my biggest complaint) seems fixed now. If we're talking about the same issue. I wish there was a shortcut key to focus on the list of notes (like there is in the Mac version) and PDF handling could definitely be improved, but other than that I think it's pretty solid. Can you give me some specific bugs, and I'll test them out? I did notice some weird text resizing with tables.
  16. This isn’t the first time I’ve heard someone say this about the recent rebranding. Just go to the discussion forums. I see where people are coming from but rebranding can be very important. It’s like a team huddling before a big game. It tries to get all the players on the same page. If done right, it pumps them up and makes them focus on what’s truly important. Just my take.
  17. I'm just now finding out about this beta version of the web client. Looks really good! For some reason I can't see my shortcuts though. Anyone else experiencing this? I'm sorry I didn't have time to read through all the posts. I did try searching. Maybe I missed it.
  18. I know I’ve probably mentioned this before but it seems worse with the latest update. Even on small, with no text or images, I can only see 3 notes at a time. That makes no sense!
  19. Not sure if this is the right place to mention this or not...but it seemed like a general thread to air PDF grievances. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, and I hope that's the case. Here's my scenario: I have two notes and I want to get a PDF in one note over to the other note. I have tried right-clicking in the body of the PDF. Hit Copy. And then Paste into the new note. No luck. Not sure what the copy is actually doing. I have tried dragging the header of the PDF over. No luck. I have tried viewing it as an attachment. And then it looks like it's going to drag to the new note, but doesn't show up. If I drag to the desktop and then to the new note, that works. I feel like Steps 1-3 should be doable. Am I missing something? Can anyone repeat and see if they get the same results?
  20. So I just played around with Notion for a little bit. It's easy to sign up with a Google account or create a new one. Holy cow, there is a lot of potential here. I'm not interested in moving my life over to another app right now, but if I was I would seriously consider Notion. I'm kind of overwhelmed by what it can do. If you just need a place to keep text, there are probably better options for that. But if you need text, next to tables, next to images, next to whatever, it seems like this might be the way to go. Seriously, spend a few minutes playing around with it. Here are some of my first impressions: Very visual. Lots of emojis. You can add covers to pages and grab beautiful images from NASA or Art Museums right within the app. Everything appears to be block-driven, so you create the kinds of blocks you need and move them around as needed. Indent blocks to make them child blocks of a parent. It's really well done. If you just need text, just type text. You can create code blocks and then choose a language. Not sure exactly what that does yet. Maybe it just highlights keywords. Heavy focus on keyboard shortcuts. Yay for that! Lots of ready-made templates to create calendars, kanban boards, and so on.
  21. This is for the OP. Have you looked into Bear? I know they have an Evernote import tool. There's also this new kid on the block (well, new to me) called Notion. It looks like it's meant to be more team-focused supposedly replacing other apps for wikis, notes, docs, etc. Might be worth checking out. I think I may actually give it a throw. Bear is neat but is pretty much Apple-focused only. It looks like you can import Evernote HTML files into Notion. You'll have to do the images manually though. https://www.notion.so/Importing-Guide-b915f547304b401eb1e2ccf742cfe849
  22. Yay! This is my biggest issue with the client. When I'm editing a lot of notes via keyboard, I usually jump to the Note Title and tab down. I have to do that twice to edit each note.
  23. Ok. Even weirder. I closed and reopened the app and it's fine now. My bad. I guess I should have tried that first.
