I use v10 nearly exclusively, and for me it works with an absolutely sufficient speed. I don’t care if it could be 2 seconds faster on tagging 20 notes, when it does the job within 5 seconds. The only exception I have experienced with the last releases is selecting multiple notes and then moving them to another notebook. All the other operations like merging notes, applying tags to a selection etc. works snappy.

If it is slow, a corrupted local database can be the reason. To fix it, follow this procedure:

    1. Go to File > Sign Out [name] from the menu bar.
    2. Select the "Remove my Evernote data from this device" option, then click Sign out.
    3. Restart your computer.
    4. Sign back in to Evernote

Beside this, keep the client up to date (currently v10.33). From other forum users a gain of speed was reported when taking the app offline. I can sort of confirm this, but don’t felt the need since it is fast enough when online for me.

Thanks for your input.  When I used the new build it was vastly slower than 2 seconds here or there (which when using Evernote for many hours a day is actually also not an insiginificant delay) in fact it was essentially unusable.  I guess this might be my machine (not a Mac) but Legacy just runs so much faster and with more of the features I used constantly (eg "ctrl :" for adding a date and time stamp into a note. I really use this often - 220326 2043 now for example creates a unique stamp for which I can search for the date 26 Mar 2022 over all my notes esp for updating a register note or a log.

I just posted a coment asking devs to give us old good Evernote. This new Evernote is too slow.

Thanks for doing this.  I really hope Evernote looks at the stats and reverses this crazy migration to a terrible build. When I used it I couldn't find a single redeemable feature that was not already existing in Legacy.  Mind you it was so glacially slow I really had trouble putting it though its paces.

  3. I am a heavy user and big fan of Evernote Legacy 6.25.2 with finding the all new totally re-designed versions of Evernote to be extremely slow, clunky and puzzlingly lacking many of the features (honed, tweaked, adjusted and optimised incrementally over about a decade) that make the final legacy version great (in fact I think the final Windows version before Legacy was the best (6.25.1 or before)).  I definitely do not want to move off Evernote Legacy which would negatively affect my daily productivity with Evernote significantly.

I am now being prompted by my PC to update Windows 11.   Before I do this, I am wondering if any Evernote Legacy users have experienced any incompatability issues with Windows 11.  I can not find anything regarding this on the forums but if there is I would be grateful to be pointed in that direction.   Thanks.

Same here. I work like a Ninja in the legacy Evernote, changing hundreds of Evernotes during a day, in groups, one by one, changing tags VERY fast, organisering and while managing my company. I switched back to legacy very fast. See also:

Tip: I never used the insert date/time of Evernote, I have always used PhraseExpress to do this and it's more customizable and wonderful. I use qqd for the date, e.g. 20210307  and qqt to also add the time. This besides MANY more shortcuts to insert all kinds of text/structures.

Hi. Thanks for your reply and for directing me to your GTD/TSW topic/thread (which I am yet to go through), and for the PhraseExpress tip.  Massive gratitude to you for letting me know legacy can be re-installed.  My experience has been that software normally doesn't allow this.  I have been away from my PC but have just downloaded and installed.  My notes all displayed instantly, all my formatting, settings and preferences intact -  was bathed in warmth and light as the sun broke through the clouds, birds started chirping and flowers bloomed!  Bitter-sweet though - like you I now wonder how long we will be able to have this tool or an upgrade which actually incorporates the functionality Evernote has spent years and years fine tuning into legacy, just to not only through the baby out with the bath water, but the bath too...

  5. I have been using Evernote for about 12 years and am extremely disappointed with this update.  I worked ninja fast and efficiently on the old platform but this new build is clunky and inefficient.  For a start it takes a good 5-15 seconds for notes to load or for search results to show. That in itself is a game-changer.  This build has also lost the ability to Control ":" to add date and time stamps which I have been using for years to update contents of my 37000+  notes (eg 210306 12:16 p.m.  as I write this posting) which gives me the ability to quickly search for any notes that were in the past edited on that date (even if subsequently edited/updated); the Home page - well, I guess it might be useful for some people - personally I was able to get things done really fast starting at the All Notes page (snippet display) with sidebar which with the new update now also shows about half of the information that the previous Windows legacy version did.   In addition unless this build has changed the search syntax, "Created:<date>" no longer returns notes created after the date inputted - another function I used regularly.

Having only just installed Windows 10.8.5 yesterday I am still finding things that have changed (unfortunately so far almost entirely for the worse not better) but it is not easy to put the platform through its paces when having to wait so long for search results and notes to load.  Really, this update has crippled my productivity with Evernote. I would go back to the previous version even without support at this stage.   I am not a regular poster so I apologise if this is posted in the wrong place. I just has to post about this deeply frustrating change with Evernote Windows.
