It just happened again. I'm going to post my "fix" for it. 

And thank you @PinkElephantand @agsteelefor the tips. The F11 didn't work, although it sounded like it had a good chance.

If you go to Edit/Search notes from the menu, it magically fixes itself.

Like I said above, it doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, it was when I was searching. 

I don't think it's worth a ticket, but maybe the Evernote developers (or product owners) watch these conversations and will put it on a "maybe someday fix this tiny bug" list.

Ah... I just noticed that it only happens when I'm searching. When I clear the search, it goes back to normal.

Notice the strange white area at the bottom - there's that much of the top part missing:

Any ideas on what to do about this?

I have 18K notes - if I don't have search, I'm dead in the water. I'm fixing to tweet to them and see what's up. This is nuts!

Another reason Evernote developers should consider adding it back - I will scan something via the laptop and then add a photo of something via the phone to the same note, then add text to the laptop version. Then I have MANY copies, none of which have everything I need!

What's even worse is that when it does sync in "real time" it sometimes creates two copies - the one just saved and the one you are adding to. So you get a notification "we found more that one version..."

So now as I add to my gazillion notes, each new note gets one, two, three or more copies. ARG!

AND if it syncs in the middle of you typing, sometimes it just doesn't keep the last 10-50 characters you typed!

Thanks for asking. Alas, I have no experience, but I was just looking at Bear vs Evernote. I've been a loyalist ever since EN began (when you couldn't even pay them anything), but my tiny little 128gb hard drive is suffering from my eHoarding compulsions, so I've been considering other options.

Having read your question, I'm thinking I'm sticking with the big elephant.
