Just watched Ian's helpful youtube video explaining how Electron/Cordova/Vue or equivalent acts as foundation for shift from v6 to v10.
He spoke about the use cases for check boxes and check lists that are at the start of a line. He said that in the next version, if you have a checkbox at the start of a line, hitting enter would result in a new checklist item - to facilitate moving to the new feature. He also mentioned that there might be a keystroke (iOS/Android??) to convert the new checklist item to a checkbox.
My use case for checkboxes is probably inconsistent with the ones I heard on the video.
I have a grocery shopping list where I have a few stores that I get things from. I might get eggs from the organic shop, milf from a local shop and tissues from a local super market. So I have a bold header for each shop and a checkbox list of items I might get from that shop. But I don't check things off as I get them. I check the things I need and uncheck them as I get them. I don't have a complete list of items, and when I add a new one by clicking enter, I don't expect a new checklist item as I will never keep it.. especially on iOS/Android.
I guess I'm asking for checkboxes and checklists to remain separate entities that chain together on newlines with like members.
