  1. I couldn't even install notion on Windows 10. Kept getting an error, so, looked elsewhere. This thread was a massive help. I went through pretty much every suggestion. The final push to leave Evernote was when Evernote web wouldn't work on my Brave browser. I had been putting up (for years) with the sudden, aggressive and annoying pop-ups asking to subscribe to evernote!. Also, the device limit. Sync issues (there was a few occasions I'd update a note on laptop (e.g. shopping list) just before leaving the house, go out and check evernote on mobile app and the note hadn't updated). Had to rely on memory on what I entered in that note. One time, I updated a note (currency info), that note completely went haywire and refused to sync changes. Here is my research (your mileage may vary): a) evernote - annoying pop-ups, dosen't work with brave anymore b) zoho note taking app - import from Evernote dosen't work properly. Last updated date of each note not accurate for imported notes c) amplenote.com - some evernote import notes does not have correct 'last changed' date. Notes not used for ages marked as changed 'just now'. Support contact us options not clear on website. No contact us link on website. d) notejoy = export/backup option requires subscription, not all evernote notes imported due to limit e) notesnook - based in pakistan, but servers in Germany. Question about data protection. Export options limited (for backing up) - doesn't seem pics embedded within notes will be backed up. f) joplin - no web based access. But have linux app though based on Appimage? I'm a linux user, so the choice became easier after I installed joplin on Linux, tested it, then installed it on mobile and windows 10, tested it. I've been using joplin for a couple of days now, and so far so good. Export (for the purposes of backup) works fine. There's offline mode (well it pretty much works in offline mode most of the time -except when it syncs ) Downside is that there is no web browser access. But as there is an app for each of the devices I use, I don't see this as an issue. Also, it dosen't have the bells and whistles of evernote such as OCR. But I hadly used this on evernote, so it's not a major deal for me. Also, I noticed that the embedded pdf's within notes dosen't show up embedded out of the box. Each pdf shows as a link. I have to click on 'toggle editors' then click the pdf file link, which opens the pdf. Again, not a deal-breaker.
  2. Every week I have a calendar entry to remind me to backup all the Evernote notes. I open the Evernote application on Windows 10 and backup the notes to a .enex file. Then I also backup all notes to a web archive, single web page and multiple web pages. Yes, it's probably overkill, but I feel that if something happens with one format, I have three other formats to fall back on. The .enex file has steadily grown over the years and it's now 176 MB. The web archive directory is 187 Mb. All 4 types takes up 650Mb disk space. Furthermore, backing up everything can take about half and hour. So, my question is, does Evernote have an option I can select to update my backup with notes that have been added since the last backup, notes that have changed, and remove (from backup) notes that have been deleted on my evernote notes repository. So, I guess, what I am asking is does Evernote offer incremental backups? If not, is there any third-party tool than can be used to do this? If neither of these options are available, could I make a feature request? p.s. I'm a linux user. I have been using Windows 10 virtual machine on my Linux laptop to do the backing up described above. Before posting this thread, I did an internet search for the title of this thread and one of results was this: https://github.com/vzhd1701/evernote-backup seems it's available for Mac, Windows AND Linux. From what I've read about it up to now, it does a sync of the Evernote data. So, in effect doing a incremental backup, as opposed to a fresh backup each time (actually what I've been doing up to now is an export more than a backup).
  3. I was seeing the same error on new android phone. As I'm a basic evernote user, revoked access to the old android and tried. Same error. Saw a post on here on another thread about VPN. So, tried connecting to my VPN, then logging in on to new android. Logged in without any issues. Not sure if it was just coincidence. i.e. the system takes a while to register the revoke access of the old android or what (revoking access then trying with VPN all happened all within about half an hour). But worth a try, if you have a VPN. I've explained in more detail in the other thread.
  4. I've been trying to setup Evernote on a new android device. Installed app, then when it came to login, saw the dreaded: Searched online and saw this post that says it may be because basic account only allows 2 devices at a time. Logged in to desktop and revoked access to my old android device. Tried logging in on new device. Same error message as above. Tried clearing cache/ storage. Same error. Tried uninstalling app then re-installing, same sob story. Then I saw the quoted post above about VPN, which gave me the idea of Connected to UK location through Expressvpn (I'm currently away from UK). then tried logging in on app on new phone. Logged in. No probs. So, it seems I was prevented from logging in because my location wasn't in the UK. It seems a VPN can be a curse as well as a blessing. Sorry, if I posted in the wrong place. wasn't sure whether to post here or on the other thread. Since, the VPN post was what gave me the idea. figured best to post here. I will try and put a link on the other thread to this post.
