  1. If you airgap your PC when using EN you should be able to use your version of EN on the one device. No syncing, just the one device. Not sure that's worth it, but it can be done, until that device dies anyway.
  2. Could be. I was just saying BS could make the decision to terminate Basic with a timeline for folks to sign up or move on. No grandfather stuff. Rip that Band-Aid off. They aren't shy about RIFing acquired development teams.
  3. Force the issue. Fair shot at kicking the tires for a prospective user. Onus is on the user to see if the software meets their needs. Both sides participate in the bargain.
  4. @abdu I don't know what long time means to everyone. A month or two seems fair to me to evaluate something like EN. Years makes no sense. I've used free as well. Still have some free cloud storage, a few GB, that I haven't moved to MEGA or OneDrive, it's not pressing. DropBox changes their plan I'll move it. Personally I think EN gave away too much for too long. When I signed on in 2008 or 2009 I subscribed right away as I liked the product and wanted to pay for the value received. Likewise, when V10 came along and my use case got borqued I moved on and quit paying. End of the day I have never understood the free lunch mentality. It's the company's choice not the user's. Though BP could show a bit more grace providing transition timelines. 🤷‍♂️
  5. It seems a time limit trial for new users and a sunset day for existing basic users would provide a fair testing environment and an eventual clean up. One notebook and 50 notes sounds like target practice with no bullets. And not sure free makes sense for a kind of mature product. One opinion in the wilderness.
  6. The parallels of this discussion and those re the level of welfare in a country are interesting. No particular point, just a "hmmm".
  7. I don't know, old horse not in the race perspective. Feels a bit like old Evernote. Many excuses but not so many reasons. All comes back to management at some point and how they deal with the issues/opportunities before them. Same at any company. It's been a couple of years.
  8. If one is using Legacy as a production app 50 note add limit sort of kills that scenario, if I read it right.
  9. Well, methinks this is the final nail for Legacy use, other than as a lookup tool. Dust off those migration plans or sign up.
  10. @cverdul Not meaning to be confrontational, performance has been disappointing for 12 years and you stuck around?
  11. This doesn't seem to have hit their plan page yet? That would be the final bell.
  12. @kkarney As I recall there was little to no feedback from EN back in the day as to what was or wasn't to be ported to V10 from Legacy. Best I remember it was acknowledged that the first version when released was not complete, that some other features from legacy would be added later. But no list of what the add backs would be. And that went for a while pre BS acquisition. And who knows what assumptions and plans were shared with BS with the merger and the time the teams spent together before the closure of the EN offices. Net of it all, you can't sort by tags and it's anyone's guess as to if you ever will. Like EN, BS does not provide specific feature plans. You do indeed ask simple questions, questions that have been asked before. IAC, It's a personal decision as to the timing of riding legacy, switching to V10, or moving on. Good luck with it.
  13. Plan for the 100% price and potential perhaps "typical" increases and you won't get disappointed.
  14. Yeah, it really is okay to have different views. Dialog is becoming a lost art. You don't think like me so you must be an idiot sort of gets in the way. 🤷‍♂️
  15. @Bill Myers Agree with the sentiment. By the by, Quicken works well for me, so still using it. 😇 EN, not so much - so not using it, for a couple of years now. Coming back to the forums from time to time to see if the things I need ever get back in the product. No joy to date.
  16. There is the option of letting folks ventilate and just leaving it be. Particularly at this point when this pretty much a repeat fest. And nobody's mind's a changing.
  17. @skywalker You can set up scan profiles with ScanSnap Manager (soon to retire) or Home to save scans to a folder. If Import works the same as it did in Legacy it is simple to get the scans into EN. If not drag and drop. IAC, the old scanner should still be useful.
  18. Mostly agree. In our litigious state these days some lawyers could have a ball with this one. But there's no money in it so methinks we be safe. 🤣
  19. Yeah, never have understood this one. Not sure what the right amount of data to absorb in a screen is but I am sure that if I have to scroll a lot something is amiss. Most of my searches, Legacy and new system are less than 30 notes. And if not refining the search or an inverse sort by date sets the table. I think I had about 42 lines on Legacy and I have 42 lines in new. Much quicker for me to have access to more. But my use case is focused a lot on search. Definitely a denser view
  20. This dog is too old to change at this point! As I said similar. I limit indexing on my PC to my repository locations. And as stated before, I am somewhat amazed at the speed of indexing and search with Windows. For example, I have mail opened on left screen, Directory Opus (my repository gateway) opened on the right. I get an Amazon receipt and I have a hotkey which cleans up body and title and saves the email as a PDF to the repository. I add LeftMsg as a "tag" to the end of the file name. The hotkey stops at the save button. After I click save I go directly to DOpus and click on the saved search for LeftMsg. The new file is in the search. Zero lag. Same for file contents. Sorry, way off topic. But always like to share some sweet mysteries of technology bits. 🤣
  21. I guess Windows indexing is similar to Spotlight re searching computer contents. Similar. Existing tags in EN survive the export for search. A few changes since the link above, but the big one was a shift from BoxCryptor to using MEGA. If you don‘t know MEGA is cloud storage with E2E encryption. Enables sync across devices and a form of backup. And a place for my “local notebooks”. Rolling your own isn't for everyone. Good luck in your search.
  22. Glad you are content. But I left EN about 2 years ago now. The loss of local notebooks, the punishing that tag usage took, the extra clicks and wasted real estate, the UI and processing speed slow downs all led me to believe that V10 was not for me. After 12+ years and 60 some thousand notes including archived. The one thing that has improved for the these items in the last two years is speed. But even now there is a slight beat before display. Can't get rid of that with browser emulation. But hey, that's my use case and idiosyncrasies not yours.
  23. You could start with reading this thread and branch out to a couple other "why is this not in V10" type threads. V10 just doesn't fit all use cases that were once run on Legacy. Good for some, not so much for others. In any case, I don't think there's a TLDR for all the issues. 🤷‍♂️
