  1. Equally a bad idea to allow fields used by the system to be modified by the user. 🤣 I would hope there were invisible to the user system dates for created and modified in old EN..
  2. Some processing overhead if nothing else.
  3. May want to try to go in again as other posts imply access returned. Could have been a coding error causing early shut down of legacy. 🤷‍♂️
  4. Not the best nor long term use case, but maybe for a procrastinator to use legacy to port their data, particularly if access is being shutdown before next month re other posts. May not be any storage savings until BS eliminates free. Static Free accounts are still accessible via V10 Web? I’m fairly sure.
  5. Found the post I used for the firewall rule. 2017. Geez. At one's own risk. https://www.evernote.com/shard/s186/client/snv?isnewsnv=true&noteGuid=ec05ed88-ae37-457d-b188-399615a71449&noteKey=00e5278c5643d9fe&sn=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.evernote.com%2Fshard%2Fs186%2Fsh%2Fec05ed88-ae37-457d-b188-399615a71449%2F00e5278c5643d9fe&title=Fixing%2BEvernote%2BWindows%2BClient%2BFreeze-up
  6. Firewall rules can prevent specific apps from accessing the internet. Not really airplane mode. Have to be careful since if you don't have the rule running when you fire up Legacy you will start syncing and may get logged out by the server, post 3/23. I think Airplane mode would be fine for ad hoc lookups and a place to keep the data with better conversion tools during a transition. I probably have the Windows Instructions somewhere, it's been a minute since I created the rule.
  7. Probably not. BS says they will block legacy starting 3/24 and seem to be doing already, accidental or otherwise. A way to possibly use EN with legacy for a longer term would be to turn off your internet connection before starting the app. After x'ing out of closing, NEVER logging out, start your internet connection again. Not logging out was a standard practice back when to be sure one had access when out of internet coverage. Be sure you are logged in before you start any of this. A firewall rule can be created or a simpler way is to switch to airplane mode. Risk is you forget and open EN legacy then BS logs you out. IAC, this is a short term legacy transition to whatever solution, my view. Or a longer term backup source. Too rickety for much else. 🤷‍♂️
  8. Can you focus on the changes and then reconnect to minimize other app disruption? Would be interesting to know if any impact, plus or minus.
  9. Not something I would do, or did I suppose. But they were paying for an active service and using active though unsupported software. Culpability for customer and company. Bad bet staying with legacy this long, bad practice setting a 30 day date certain window.
  10. Okay. Does that mean when someone has been adding and editing off line, performing tasks like you’re doing, they return to chaos? That would be a PITA.
  11. Would pausing internet have any impact on this? Or would RTE have the same view of the data when reconnecting?
  12. On your home devices? There's x'ing out or closing and then there's actually logging out. Only way to maybe to get in at this point is to have the app not running at home and disconnecting prior to starting it. Logged out or app up and logged out elsewhere at this point is mostly likely toast. Me thinks.
  13. People paid money to use EN with Legacy. Ain't saying it was bright or not, but it was what it was. Crooked. Really? Just my opinion, not a righteous statement of fact.
  14. Yeah, nothing to do with the obviousness of Legacy sunsetting, more BS' handling of the date certain. You know I left a ways back, sans histrionics. More to do with a company perhaps taking money from a user knowing that the client they use (and appear to only want to use after 3 years) is going away soon. Could have been handled better by BS in my view, like last August. Folks would could have been fully informed as to an investment in premium Legacy usage. That's all, just a voice in the wilderness. 🤷‍♂️
  15. I don't know. If one were to be using Legacy and signed up for another yar of Premium or whatever two months ago and was told a few a days ago that Legacy was kaput that could be a case for a refund. Sure Legacy was known to be on it's last legs but there was no date certain. Based upon the banner messages reported, etal, it would seem BS knew who was legacy and could have advised. If they knew. Just saying.
  16. Or could be a simple ***** up on the server side as they process the close down. Pareto with tech. Edit: It was s c r e w in the original post to protect my honor. 😊
  17. To try and get your local notes, when you get home turn off your internet connection before you try to access EN. If the app is closed and you didn't log out you may be able to skip the log in test that way. Unless EN physically logged you out from the server in the last couple of days. If that doesn't work contact support, as it's not 3/23 yet.... EDIT: Airplane mode is the easiest way to disconnect.
  18. Maybe 200 million people downloaded EN. If everyone who uses EN signed up it would be a $20B or currency of your choice plus company. Who knows the detritus left from 200 million window shoppers. As good a reason for purging non paying customers as any I suppose. I don't think I've ever heard an active user number....
  19. If you are okay with HTML, put legacy back and use the export as multiple web pages. Be careful with duplicate note titles. First export to the target folder is fine, EN will add a number to the end of the folder containing attachments for a note. If you export a second time to an existing target folder it will bork the attachments folder if a dup comes along. Dups in a first export to a target folder are fine, not so much if in a second export to the same target folder, 45 characters of the note title becomes the file name. Those are the two warts I found back in Dec 21. Very searchable folder based repoxdsitory is created. FWIW.
  20. I don’t know. I’ve been lurking here the last couple of years since I left. EN soon after the V10 introduction. Old habits. Handwriting was on the wall for my use case. Anyway, not wanting to be too critical, but EN never had good support. If I believe these forums, BS isn’t doing much better. Maybe 99% of their users don’t complain. Forums do tend to be repositories for complaints as opposed to compliments. Customer rolls tend to be more indicative of satisfaction. Still, hard for me to give quarter to a company that hasn’t at least shown signs of righting the customer support ship in a bit over a year. It’s a business run it. It’s hard but it isn’t complicated. Maybe fire the competent members of the old staff after some stabilization? One of the first jobs of management is to simplify. Kool aid be too sweet perhaps? None of us tend be as good as we think we are.
  21. I didn't address the sync stuff. Best case you would have a central copy only accessible by one PC at a time. I don't know if you can move the EXB to a cloud drive and have it work. Accident waiting to happen in my view. One voice in the wilderness and I am no expert. 🤷‍♂️
