  1. Yes, they do. However, that doesn't mean they implement every suggestion or feature request.
  2. One of the great things about Evernote is that it's very flexible. Some people really like tags. Some people don't. And everyone is free to make any (polite) suggestions they wish. In fact, suggestions and requests are encouraged.
  3. Submit it as a support ticket. The link is in my signature.
  4. If the electricity in your house suddenly stopped working, would you sit in the dark saying" it should just work"? Or would you go check the breaker box? Look out the window to see if your neighbors have electricity or not? I will leave aside the discussion over whether technology can work perfectly for another day. The issue at hand is getting your Evernote account working. To do that, you'll need to start with the troubleshooting steps already mentioned. And you may have to do a few more. If you're not willing to do that, there's probably not much we or the Evernote Support folks can do to help you. FYI, no one who has answered in this thread works for Evernote. Like you, we are users. Best of luck.
  5. I primarily use other note taking apps that play nicely with Evernote. I've never been one to use "styles" in any situation, though. You may find this useful: https://kustomnote.com/ Best of luck.
  6. I love FollowUpThen.com. Even have the paid version. Mostly, I use it to send SMS reminders for emails I need to act on.
  7. Yes, Any.do does have recurring tasks. It's not incredibly flexible but it is there.
  8. It's available for Android and iOS in the Pebble Store. http://blog.evernote.com/blog/2014/03/07/evernote-go-introducing-evernote-pebble/
  9. You drag the files from whatever folder the are in on your computer to Evernote. This is the file they are in by default if you're running Mavericks: ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.BKAgentService/Data/Documents/iBooks/Books You may need to make your Library folder visible by going to View>Show View Options>Show Library Folder.
  10. Whether or not it's a difficult feature to implement is something none of us here would really know. What is pretty definite is that Evernote has made decisions about the kind of software they want to use and the kind they want to make. They are not unaware of these requests. It just appears, at present at least, they're not part of the plan. Best of luck.
  11. Yes, this is an appropriate place to make feature requests. Evernote employees do read all the posts, though they don't always reply. It's great that you included your use case. Best of luck.
  12. Google calendar will send an email (or SMS, my choice) for appointments if you have that option selected in the reminders section of an appointment. It's probably one of the top 5 reasons I use Google Calendar.
  13. Where has anyone "demonized" anyone who wants a linux client? How does such inflammatory rhetoric help? As Jeff and others have pointed out. Evernote has given their reasons. I understand that you neither like nor agree with those reasons. And there is certainly nothing wrong with continuing to ask. However, Evernote has shown little inclination to revisit the issue or provide additional public comment. Best of luck.
  14. This is a user-to-user forum so Evernote staff participation is limited. And, as has been noted several times in this thread, Evernote has commented. They said they are not planning to make an Linux version. Best of luck.
  15. Not snowed in, though my city doesn't seem to plow streets anymore. I drive a car with a manual transmission. Snow doesn't bother me much. Yes, I'd like different sort options for different notebooks AND more sort options!
  16. It might be important to you but personally, I really don't care. Now, the ability to sort each notebook individually, now THAT'S important!
  17. And I believe it's so obvious that hierarchical structures can be a waste of time. Did I put the car insurance information in the folder called "Car"? Or did I put it in the folder called "Bills"? Or the folder called "Financial"? Do I put the article on some of the less expected benefits of exercise under "Fitness"? Or "Mental Health"? Or "Productivity"? Do I need to make an entirely new folder for the copy of the score of Vivaldi's Gloria? Yes, many of my notes have multiple tags; it takes but seconds to add them. Between them and searching, I generally find what I want more quickly that trying to remember in which of the many possible folders I might have carefully filed something. Way too many things in my life cross categories. This is a real world use for Evernote. You may think it a "simple use case" but trying to keep a life full of documents organized hardly seems so to me. Needs vary. It sounds as if yours are not met by Evernote. That's ok. But to think that makes Evernote's decisions on how it should structure data some how deficient seems to indicate a certain rigidity of thought. Perhaps it's all that hierarchical filing? Best of luck.
  18. The fact that Evernote does not rely on what I consider to be an outdated metaphor of a filing cabinet is why I chose and continue to use Evernote. I find tags infinitely more powerful and at the same time more simple. Combined with the ability to search, I can actually find and use what I need rather than spending time trying to remember which of several possible folders I may have put something in. My larger point is that Evernote did not make a mistake. They made a considered choice that works extremely well for lots of people. It is unlikely that they are going to change anytime soon. Best of luck.
  19. For my purposes, I would rephrase, the goal is to keep things simple and the best way to do that is avoid structures, such as a hierarchy, that cause you to spend too much time trying to remember where you put things.
  20. Because no one has a "right" to an Evernote client. I can't think of any consumer product that anyone has a right to insist a company make for them.
  21. You seem to be making the assumption that Evernote has some sort of obligation to make a product for every demographic. Just because Linux users would like a version of Evernote for their platform in no way creates a requirement that Evernote do so. There is certainly nothing wrong with asking but, to date, the answer is no.
  22. http://discussion.evernote.com/topic/44801-evernote-powered-grocery-list-for-ios-works-great-with-evernote-food-wpromo-codes/ I haven't tried it.
  23. I think it should also include recipes and nutrition information. ;-)
  24. Privately held has the advantage of not having to answer to shareholders, but, eventually, I expect they'll need the money. Unless, of course, they can get some of that government funding.
