  1. One feature that I would love to see in Evernote is a better interface for doing checklists. Mobisle Note for Android has a pretty decent interface, and if they just added the ability to move items up and down the list easier it would be perfect. The checklists in notes are a bit clumsy and slow to create in for Evernote's Windows version, and I have not been able to figure out how to do them at all in the Android version. So for now I have Mobisle Notes for checklists and Evernote for everything else...

Yep, I would also like to see checklists supported in Android and improved in the desktop client.

  2. Thanks much for the shortcut to note! Didn't see how to add shortcut to search though. Could shortcuts to Notebooks or Tags be added?

I also was not able to add a shortcut to one of my saved searches from the desktop client either. Hopefully this request and some of his other ones can be implemented in the next version! Great work, this is finally coming together. Now I might actually start using my Evernote Android app daily!

When you're viewing any list of notes (you can get to the list from the search, tags, or notebooks screen), press the menu button on your device. There's an item called "Create Shortcut".

Name the shortcut as you like and it will be added to the desktop.

Awesome feature! This is the kind of stuff we need. If you can just add the ability to check off checkboxes now, my list wish list of features will be complete!

  3. I just wanted to say that right now, I am very happy to see the progress on the beta. Due to my frustrations with the original release, I had actually started trying out other services. But now that the beta is out, I'm ready to stick around to see what improvements are made. Already, it seems that formatting issues are getting better, which was a big deal to me. I don't mind the unfinished UI at all, I'm just glad it works better. I'm glad you all chose to do a public beta, so we can see progress as comes.

    +1

This is a huge leap forward over the previous version, and is going to be key in keeping Android users on Evernote.

Offline notes is great as is the improved interface and speed improvements. Keep up the good work!

  4. Tab search issue is now fixed.

I have some information from our Engineer: for making 5 MP photo, it is not necessary generating large file. The different of colors and light may make the file size varies. So, This is not a bug.

Another build is passed to QA now and should be available soon.

The problem is not the file size that Evernote is generating it's the IMAGE SIZE. Having a low-resolution image is useless when I need the full 5MP resolution.

    Please fix this.

Yep, it's not just the file size. The image is tiny (something like 800x 600) when you see it in evernote (using the desktop client).

When I open the camera normally, it says "5MP" on the left-hand side status bar. When I use the photo note in Evernote, the camera status bar shows "1MP". The problem is, there is no menu available when taking a picture with evernote so I can change the size, somehow the menus are disabled.

  5. The new widget is great! Only problem I have is that all the photos I create on my Motorola Milestone are still 1MP, where can I change this?

Hi, just wondering if anyone knows why the photo size used by Evernote is 1MP? When I start the camera app normally, the default is 5MP, but in Evernote it's always 1MP and there is no way to change this. Is this a Milestone bug, a 2.1 bug, or an Evernote bug?

  6. Yup, the new Android lead is up to speed and doing a lot of great work. I saw an internal early alpha version of a desktop "widget" for the Android yesterday that looks pretty nice. I hope to see an external release (or at least a beta) soon.

    Thanks

Glad to hear that. I'm sticking around until the end of August, then I'm jumping ship if there are no significant improvements.

  7. Ok, it's mid-July 2010 now.

There was a beta that basically just fixed the issue that the Evernote desktop client introduced back in May.

Is there ever going to be new functionality that we are all crying out for in the Evernote Android client, or is this a polite way to try and move us all to other note-taking solutions, because that's exactly what I'll be doing in another few months if nothing turns up.

  8. Hi,

My trials and tribulations with the Android Evernote client on my Motorola Milestone continue. Yesterday I was shopping and wanted to check a note with details of a product I was interested in. Initially I had no coverage, so it told me I had 0 Notes. The network coverage resumed and I found the note I was after by browsing (it had been updated about 3 hours previously). What is very odd is the note didn't contain the latest info, in fact it was out of date by about 3 weeks! I checked a few other notes and there were similarly out of date.

    Very frustrating.

When I got back home I checked and yes, my notes were all synched. In fact, I used Evernote on a couple of Windows PCs and both were up to date (as was the view of the note) from the Evernote web site.

This was using the latest version from the Market. I have uninstalled Evernote and re-installed it and I am still seeing out of date notes? WTF?

  9. Does the iPhone version go 2 months between Beta versions I wonder?

Or have a version that is unusable/unstable for many of their customers?

In the time that we have been waiting for a new version of Evernote on Android, I have actually had 2 Android updates on my Milestone!

  10. Is there every going to be an update to the Evernote Android client?

I have just had to uninstall the 1.31 version from the Market as it force closed when attempting to view any note. The last beta version was 2 months ago, and right now we have a release version that doesn't seem to work for many people.

I love the Evernote desktop client and use it every day, but without a decent Android client, I will be looking to jump ship very soon. B)

  11. The 1.4B2 won't allow me to open any notes!

It ends up force closing when I select a Note from the list, so I can't view or edit anything. Even selecting "About evernote" from the menu ends up with a FC!

This is on a UK SIM-free Milestone.

EDIT: Did a complete uninstall of evernote and downloaded the beta2 again and it's working now. Previously I had upgraded when it told me a new version was available on Sunday.

  12. Nice, this is much better having control of the flash in particular!

The first few times I took a snapshot, after I selected "OK" for the image it took me back to the main screen and I didn't get the option to save the image and set the title, notebook, etc. Seems to be working ok now though.

This is using a UK Milestone.

  13. One thing that would improve the functionality of the Android Evernote client for me would be the ability to edit notes that contain checkboxes, so you could 'check' the checkboxes and save the note. Right now I can edit Notes that are plain text, but as soon as I add checkboxes, I can't edit on my Milestone.

If I could edit checkboxes, I could use my phone with checklists, etc that are stored in Evernote.
